I thought of that as well, but one of the goals of my fangame is to create discussion about what Sonic is and how he could/couldn't work in 3D. The project is meant to be both a fun experience and one that sparks discussion in the community. What if this new, upcoming game actually FIXES some of the problems that I set out to address? Don't get me wrong, that'd be great for Sonic as a franchise to be sure, but I feel that releasing my fangame afterwards would just make me look like I'm addressing issues that are no longer relevant, you know?

I dunno. Does that seem like silly logic? The project is wrapping up very soon. Even with the bug-testing, lighting builds and final packaging I can likely make the deadline, but some extra tests and touches couldn't hurt either. I need to decide if beating Sonic Team to the punch is even necessary.

Thanks. The idea is to take a lot of the ideas that a lot of message-board folks spend hours hashing it out about and actually try to apply them in an actual, practical, playable setting.
Could a more exploratory Sonic actually work?
Can slope-based physics create as satisfying a feeling in 3D as they do in 2D?
Can you do an entire Modern Sonic level without using a single Boostpad, or Scripted running sequence?
Can it all come together in a satisfying, cohesive experience that is easy to pick up and play, but difficult to complete 100%?
So far, according to my testing team, the answer to all of these seems to be 'yes!' However, that's all something for you all to determine for yourselves when you hopefully get to play it in the coming weeks.
