From personal experience I want to say this is false.
Been in more than a few teams that took the lead early and held it super solid only to collapse like a house of cards in the second half. Sometimes heavy ammo is involved but usually it's because teams just can't play well enough to keep the pressure up or because they just stick to using the same tactics over and over again.
