dolphin rape caves confirmed yet?
>>
Oh god, I just got the Seamoth and I'm getting massive motion sickness when piloting it.

I don't think I can play this game
>>
>>147258324
It could just be your Scanner being snarky.
>>
>>147258425
Are you playing with VR or something?
>>
>>147258324
are you implying it's possible to dissect it to actually confirm how it functions

it already has a more or less pointless roar for gameplay purposes of not being raped
>>
>>147257869
That would require many little needles poking from the Stilsuit into your body, can you imagine swimming and moving around like that?
>>
>>147258657
Do you know what IV is?
>>
>>147258657
IIRC Dune had it to where the stillsuit had a little tube at your mouth you just drank out of

I assume that's how a stillsuit would work in a futuristic setting, just grip n sip
>>
Friendly reminder https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy4HA3vUv2c
>>
>>147258772
Yeah, a BIG needle in your arm. How is that any better?

>>147258854
That works fine when you're not underwater most of the time and also need a regulator in your mouth.
>>
>>147258487
No, just regular 60hz monitor. I get bad motion sickness from games with headbob, but so far Subnautica was fine. I really like this game, but I can't play it if I feel like throwing up after 5 minutes in the seamoth
>>
How accurate are the reaper spawnpoints on the map of the last thread?
>>
>>147259067
That's a shame, anon. I hope you can find some way to tolerate it
>>
>>147258324
They're saying "no brain" the same way a person would mean "lmao that nerd has no muscle"

they don't mean he doesn't have a fucking brain you big dummy
>>
>>147258973
OK so apparently the stillsuit is just a Dune thing and probably heavily if not entirely "inspired by" dune
description of a stillsuit via Dune
>It's basically a micro-sandwich—a high-efficiency filter and heat-exchange system. The skin-contact layer's porous. Perspiration passes through it, having cooled the body…near-normal evaporation process. The next two layers…include heat exchange filaments and salt precipitators. Salt's reclaimed. Motions of the body, especially breathing and some osmotic action provide the pumping force. Reclaimed water circulates to catchpockets from which you draw it through this tube in the clip at your neck…Urine and feces are processed in the thigh pads. In the open desert, you wear this filter across your face, this tube in the nostrils with these plugs to ensure a tight fit. Breathe in through the mouth filter, out through the nose tube. With a Fremen suit in good working order, you won't lose more than a thimbleful of moisture a day...
So I think the stillsuit in subnautica given a helmet would basically make H20 a non-factor while eliminating the piss bags; such a helmet would definitely be lategame equipment though.

I can't find jack shit. I've been going through kelp forrests, wreckages and grassy plateaus for a solid hour and haven't found a single one.
>>

Should be finding them in the Grassy Plateau. Try saving and closing then retarting, may be a glitch.
>>

>>
>>147260820

>>
>>147260820
I haven't found any seamoth fragments in the kelp forest. The red grass area is where they are, also they aren't little boxes anymore they're actualy scrap parts
>>
>>147260562

>>

Try the aurora maybe
>>
>>147260820
You need to go around where the sand sharks like to hang out in the big open seabeds. The pieces of the Seamoth are different from regular metal salvage pieces, they tend to look like rounded quarter-circle sections (the ship's stubby wings). Be patient; when you come back with the Seamoth you can pulverize every last one of them to death with your titanium bubbleboat.

>>147259234
Just consider everywhere in a 1 kilometer radius to be a dangerzone.

Not that it mattered much for me. When I finally got to the Aurora I didn't see a single one. Went in through the scenic route, tossed a few crabs into the sky, fixed the ship, harvested several lithium nodes off the cliffsides, nearly got all of the Cyclops parts in one go, then suddenly two Reapers almost right next to each other. This was the first time I've ever seen them but thankfully my time spent smacking sand sharks around was good piloting practice.

The couple now visibly patrol the seas leading to the now-inert Aurora. Too fucking late, niggas.

I honestly though you can only start building your base starting from the pod, since there's an entrance on the bottom of it. You know, it would be attached and shit.
>>
>>147267953
I wish you could attach it to a base. The pod is pretty useless after the early game and you build your first base.
>>
>>147268131
It is. It should have more of a purpose in my opinion. I don't know, make it possible to either salvage it for materials or actually sail in it.

It's your indestructible respawn point so it must always exist. The only thing I will ask of the devs is for the cave reel to modified so that it can be used to tether the pod to a nearby base. Now that's a genuinely useless item I won't spend the effort making after the next update hits.

>>
Two hours in. Just got the Still Suit and the Seaglide.

When can I start really exploring and building bases? It feels like I'm moving at a snail's pace right now.
>>
>>147271132
1. Get an additional oxygen bottle in your backpag
2. Start going down around 100m and try to find ruins/seamoth pieces
3. Start building more shit and getting more materials
4. Once you get the seamoth shit will become easier
>>

I've got two tanks but it still doesn't feel like I can go very far.
>>
>>147271413
I felt the same for quite some time but then I just figured out I can get some stuff in just more than 1 dives and it usually helps me get the shit I want.

Try to visit the floater island when you can for good blueprints that will make it easier in some parts too.

>>
>>147271132
>When can I start really exploring and building bases?
you can start that faster than you think, the first playthrough is always slow. get at least two oxygen tanks and use the seaglide to find the seamoth parts in grassy plateus (sandy area with red grass). after that air isn't really a problem since the seamoth will replenish your air wherever you take it. if you have the upgrade station you can make your tanks hold even more. two high cap tanks give you about 165

>>147272181
From what I saw they start appearing at around 100m down, depends. I know there are some schematics near the Aurora, to the left of it. If you find a forest of weird mushroom looking things, that's it.
>>
>>147272181
search the whole area, most of the parts probably won't be near the wrecks at all
>>

Alright, thanks. Just getting some more batteries for the Seaglide so I can go back there and properly explore.

Any way to better escape those shark things or is it just a matter of swimming away?
>>
>>147272669
Early on, swimming away. And hope that one day we'll get spears in the game so it will be easier to defend.

Try getting a radsuit and fixing Aurora if you haven't already. Lots of crates there, some with batteries.
>>
I got got the bone shark and sand shark eggs to hatch in my aquarium, makes scanning them easier when they're tiny non hostile babies.
I wonder if I should put them outside my base too, I'm worried they'll turn hostile.
The worst the Stalker does is pick up my little robot camera buddies. They'll chase them to hell and back too.
>>
>>147272782
Think I'll make that my goal for the time being then. Then I'll stock up on food, water and start exploring that biome for the pieces.

Really liking the game so far but it was dragging quite a bit.
>>
>>147262824
Anyone? Is there any confirmation on terraforming going out or is everyone speculating?
>>
>>147272934
Yeah I felt quite the same and was progressing really slowly for a long while but now that i have the seamoth shit is a lot easier.

This game has way more content than I thought it would have.
>>
Please tell me the Seamoth fragments aren't close to the Aurora.
I went there and it's over 100m deep and pitch black in all directions.
I saw shadows of the Reaper twice and there's no way in hell I'm ever going back there.
>>
>>147259067

I found them around the mushroom forest that's furthest from the Aurora. Then you'll want the moon pool which I found all of them on the cliff side bordering the great reef
>>
I think if the lifepod still drifts after you weld it, you simply need to reload the save after welding since the pod is still smoking/sparking a little despite being welded so it definitely counts itself as "fixed" and enables the gravity well thing

>>
>>147273180
Just got the last Seamoth blueprint piece! Do I have to build the mobile vehicle bay to build it? I also got the upgrade station yet I don't know how to build'/find it.
>>
>>147274610
>if you're bad at the game your lifepod could float into dangerous waters

>>147273386
They're in the Grassy Plateau and Mushroom Forest. It's full of sand sharks but with the seaglider you should only take one hit at most per scanned part
>>
>>147275154
You need the mobile vehicle bay to build all the subs. It chills on the surface so place it above your base.

Upgrade station is an appliance that's placed in your base

Not even that. Once you get the sea moth and built a small base, there's really no incentive to explore. Sure go get some blueprints for furniture or the cyclops so you can dive super deep, but why? You don't have any reason to explore those areas except for sight seeing purposes. From the time you build the first couple rooms of your base and get the upgrade station, there's little to no actual progression left

About to relocate my base to accommodate the cyclops. Where should I put it? Thinking about the grassy plateau.

Now I'm just worried I'm fucked; I'm at 11 health and it isn't going up, even at full health and h2o. I'm on Survival, and I'm sure there's no death penalty other than losing all of my items, but how the hell do I heal other than the one medkit I started with in the lifepod?
>>

>>
>>147283049
In your escape pod I there is a health station that gives you a health pack every so often.

The life pod should fabricate new health packs every so often, not sure what the time period is though. I think you can also fabricate more health kit fabricators for your base.

This game gets pretty comfy around end game, I dunno if it's just me but I've always wanted to be able to listen to my own music in game.
Like just drag and drop some MP3 files into a folder and play them on an ingame radio.
Or like, do the same with videos, just drag and drop an mp4 file and watch a video in your deep sea underwater death forth.
>>
>>147283617
Suggest it to the devs, there's a built-in feedback button that's super easy to use. F8 I think is the standard keybind? I can't imagine adding your own music would be too difficult to implement, though personally I'd be worried about ruining the atmosphere.
>>
I was running out of space, and built a waterproof storage thing. It said my inventory was full, so I went to put stuff away. Where does it put the item for me to pick up? It's not on the floor of my lifepod, or nearby in the water.
>>
>>147285104
I think it stores it in a buffer and then as soon as you have enough inventory space it adds it. If not, then idk it might have been deleted.

You need to create your own goals, man. For most people interested in this time of game, that collecting shit and exploring locations to make a comfy base. With alien containment you can also build an ark if you like. This is a game about conquering the ocean.
>>

>>
>>147295018
Stuttering will be mostly fixed once terraforming is removed. It checks every time you load into an area what you've terraformed.
>>
>>147295785
Hope so. I'd take no stuttering over not being able to dig useless holes.
>>
>>147295992
So will the update completely invalidate anyone's save that used the terra former tool? Or will it affect anyone who so much as just dug a hole once in the shallows.
>>
>>147295992
Don't forget allahu akbar fish expanding the cave systems and base construction awkwardly carving out formations.
>>
>>147296260
it's safe to assume you'll be stuck on an old, unpatched save since base-building is also tied to terraforming currently (it flattens terrain)

Jesus. I hope they release the patch soon so I can actually start playing.

Just to shitpost to try to convince people to stop liking the things they like?
>>
>>147286064
Some of the habitat parts are going to be made unavailable until you find the blueprints for them, so they might put some in the Aurora.
>>
>>147298068
Yeah they know people want it since everyone constantly asks for it but they want to actually get the game out as something of a complete experience and won't consider even looking into multi till then.

Similarly, aside from performance issues, they chose to remove terraforming because the amount of time and resources that it would take to get in anything near a workable state in-line with the rest of the game would detract from everything else.
>>
>>147296635
you'd be surprised how fast you can scrounge up all the stuff you want within a few game days, barring maybe the cyclops
>>
>>147298171
Nope just disappointed that the game starts off well then turns in to complete shit. Could have been great but ends up feeling empty and lifeless. Just look how great everything in the intro sequence is, as well as shallows area. Clearly defined progression actual goals Tha make sense, some semblance of a story arc...

Then once you move past fern gully the graphics turn to shit, horrific gem try and sharp polygons everywhere on floating islands terrible textures no sense of direction just a bunch of shot and a handful of poorly modeled fish slapped into an empty worldscape.

I mean if I were a new device this would be the best place to learn things - oceans are empty as duck to begin with and I it takes next to no skill to generate a world with no ducking landscape whatsoever. You can tell he can't model for shit because everything outside of the tutorial zone looks like a kid made it
>>
>>147298026
This is one of the few without procedural generation. They crafted environments and creatures to be discovered, which is the wonder of oceanic exploration that would draw people to a game like this. If you arent interested in that, the game isnt for you, much as a grand strategy game isnt for the dudebro. You wouldnt claim that grand strategy was shit on the basis that it doesnt have content that interests you.
>>
>>147298864
It's almost like theyre still making the game.

>>147298864
This might surprise you, but the game isn't finished. Of fucking course there's not much to do at the "endgame".

>>
>>147298864

>>147298901
Conceptually the idea behind exploring an ocean to survive after a ship crash is great. However the game is empty as shot once you leave the tutorial areas and the story drops off. Have you been to those floating islands? They look like something from TES III: underwater red mountain, with how poor the modeling is. If the main draw of a game is to explore a stunning landscape they could at least make some competent looking fucking models
>>

You realize this game is a bit different in that they automatically push updates twice daily so everyone can see and PLAY what theyre doing, and they've been developing at a pretty decent pace, such that two months is enough time for drastic change, right? There's a ton of assets that need an art pass still, and that's the main complaint aside from adding concrete goals, which is the coming story, mandatory for full release.

I am highly skeptical of EA from all the numerous examples, with tripwire's incompetence firsthand, but you are a fucking moron.

What would /sub/ like to see as far as map boundaries go? I haven't been but right now I believe there is just a huge abyss drop off with tons of dangerous monsters running around. That's pretty much what I did.
Leaving the escape pod from the bottom isn't as scary as jumping into it from the surface. I staying in the safe shallows for a while, stayed around the bottom because fuck wide open water. Eventually you just get used it it, you know what can and can't hurt you, what will and wont be there, and it feels a lot safer.

I'm trying to elevate my base a little because of stuff on the floor clipping inside, but don't want a foundation on the bottom as it interferes with what I'm trying to build. Also its teeth don't look like something any aquatic animal would have. That's a problem with a lot of the aggressive life in this game; they all have mammal teeth.

-more scuttling crustaceans and creeping sea slugs that can be food
-large bivalves that are defensive and can clamp onto your arm, leg, or head if you're careless, they can have pearls inside them that can be used to make things
-a sea snake-like creature that's aggressive and tries to coil you up and constrict you until you get free or die
-a large crustacean or cephalopod that camouflages itself as a rock until you swim past then comes after you, if you fight back it flees and hides
-finish working on the Sandworm and put it in as a menace that lurks below the sand and erupts upward to attack
-anglerfish and other deep-sea things that try to lure you in with lights and then attack

Apparently when you place a chair in front of the controls of the Cyclops and then stand up, the sub shoots up into the air and flies forward until you take control of the ship or it flips over in the air. In which case it crashes down into the ocean.

Arctic biome is in the planning stage.

>weather systems such as storms, high currents, hurricanes, whirlpools, ect.
This would be really nice.

>undersea caverns with airpockets that extend into normal dry caverns
The Mountain Island has that, and the floating Island has a hidden cove in the center of it.

>animal life that stays near the depths of the ocean and only rises out during storms
And also creatures that migrate between depths and surface during the day and night.

>life specifically evolved in dark caves
Crabsquids, everything in the Lost River.

>more small creatures of aquariums and general atmosphere like crabs, small squids/octopi, shellfish, small eels, jellyfish
Agreed, would make it feel more alive.

>more large passives and medium sized aggressors
This, we have little things and big things but few in-between.

>more mega-fish
Shit like a Leedsicthys expy or a Dunkleosteus expy would be awesome.

>animals that deliberately attack your base and try to get in
They're implementing creature attacks on bases in a later update along with base defense systems.

The very first eggs I found were a full batch of rabbit rays. Released them right outside my base because I didn't know better; they ended up constantly stuck to the side of my base's containment tower, presumably trying to get back into the safe aquarium.

It wasn't harmful to my base but I just didn't fuckin' like it. All of them are dead now, slammed into walls with a propulsion gun until they stopped moving.

Freeloaders not welcome. Staying in the safe confines of my base comes with the price of being ready to become chow at any moment. Such is life in the sea.

entirely subjective for each person. there's no one right answer. There's enough that, if you know exactly what you're doing and you make a beeline to every single object you need, it'll take a couple of hours. That said, if you're like me who has 35 hours so far and JUST started to branch out from the starting area, you're looking at quite alot.

You have a lot of options, but I guess bases sorta look relatively the same since you only have certain modules. really up to your own imagination.

>>
>>147346952

>>
>>147346660
I think the demand for lovecraft shit is because of the idea of "something" out there.
Yeah we have leviathans and sharks, and they're scary as fuck at first, but once you adjust and realize that's the worst you have to worry about, the tension starts to fade.

The idea of "something" lovecraftian is more of an intangible concept. Phenomena you can't explain, odd sounds and sights, something fucking with you that you can't fight back or run from.

Things you can't fight back against are scarier. That's the reason why a lot of horror games don't let you fight back. Once you can defend yourself, you can take control of the situation, and taking control obliterates fear.

I don't want to see cthulhu in the game, but I would love for something paranormal to occur at places around the map. Like sounds, wails, or calls you can't hear anywhere else playing near/off the edge of the map. More odd messages playing through your receiver, shit like that.

>>147347298
I like that idea of strange sounds you hear occasionally that don't match the other creatures, and disturbanes and currents that happen in certain areas. Seeing the creature itself would just start an ever-escalating ladder of "Once we see it we stop being scared and want something bigger" that would just get ridiculous.
>>
How do I turn the cyplops' lights off? When I push the button for it, nothing happens.
>>
>>147347667
You know on /v/ there was a great thread with ideas about scary shit. Like hearing your base say "Welcome aboard captain" Even though you're already inside of it. Hearing footsteps in your base or your bulk head doors closing.
There were those fish that tell your to 'come closer' so I don't think that kind of stuff is too out there for this game.
Getting random distress signals would be cool, ones that are trying to lead you into a trap or something.
Maybe if you have a moonpool there is a chance something will sneak into your base and start breaking your things, or eating the fish in your tanks.
>>
>>147347813
Wait, the floodlights do actually turn off, but the interior ones don't.
>>
>>147347667
>Seeing the creature itself would just start an ever-escalating ladder of "Once we see it we stop being scared and want something bigger" that would just get ridiculous.

Exactly! That's why I don't want to be able to see the "something", but hear odd things or experience phenomena I can't explain

>>147347962
That's also really cool. Just imagining hearing a bulkhead open and "welcome aboard captain" when I'm already inside gave me chills.
>>
>>147348171
It'd be pretty cool if you would randomly hear your 'radio' tell you that help has arrived and to come out of your base for rescue.
But it only happens at night and only when you're at least 200m deep.
>>
>>147348325
It would have to happen rarely enough that you don't grow accustomed to it.

Like the bulkhead opening and "welcome aboard captain" would have to happen with no audio or visual queues, and after they happen, nothing. They leave you wondering if it was just a glitch or if you imagined it.
>>
>>147348597
That'd be the best part. It only needs to happen once in a blue moon, just enough to leave you nervous enough to wonder if it'll come back.
>>
>>147348827
needs to be different each time, too.
Maybe one time you hear it and think "oh my game is just being dumb again" and then you hear a series of loud CRASHES and something scream and your base has several breaches in it.

And you never find what did it and you wonder if it's still in the base with you, somewhere.

The Mountain sland, the Jelly Shroom Cave, and several other places have old abandoned seabases with PDAs from the three survivors of a previous crash. One of them talks about how it was stupid to explore deep underwater and that they now know that they're there. It's also implied that the Warper creatures are two of those three survivors mutated into Warpers and the third survivor built a weapon ti fight them but accidentally shot down the Aurora. There's also logs and communiques involing something searching and gathering up the Aurora survivors, which is why all the lifepods you find have the exact same type of damage to them. A lot of the PDAs are still blank right now, much of their story is from the developers. As for the communiques, when you repair the Communications Relay in your lifepod it will play these messages in this order:

"This is an automated bounce back from the Aurora Mining Vessel. Your distress signal has been received. An emergency relief team will be dispatched to your location. *Static* Estimated arrival time: 99999 hours"

"This is Second Officer Keen, broadcasting to all surviving Aurora crew! Captain Hollister is gone. I have assumed command. The computer has identified dry land aproximatley 750m south of the crash site. Your orders are to stay together, ensure your immediate safety, and the regroup at the attached co-ordinates. Good luck. Over and out."

"This is an automated distress signal from Aurora Lifepod 17. Co-ordinates attached. Please send immediate emergency relief team"

"This is Aurora Senior Engineer LaFette, broadcasting from Lifepod 7! We have survived impact, but flotation devices have failed to deploy and we are sinking! Co-ordinates attached! Will attempt repair! Anticipate losing radio contact at- *Static*"

"Nine new biological subjects designated. Mode switch: hunting/analyzing. Sharing subject location with other agents."

Help isn't coming. This is the second craft to come down over this planet.

The construction of a habitat is necessary for continued survival, while exploration vehicles are necessary for finding resources to exploit to improve your safety (Remember Lithium is essential to having an durable habitat).

At that point, you have taken care of all your needs, now exploration takes on a primary role to determine the reason for the crash and gather associated data on the planet.

It will not do to have your rescuers arrive, only to see yet another ship shot down and crash into the planet.
>>

>>147358101

There's a major difference between "Help is coming" and "They're sending a ship"

Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action.

If the diver has half a brain, he knows that unless something changes, there will be three wrecks on planet. Waiting for rescue is not an option when rescue cannot actually land.

Pretty much literally this tbqh desu senpai.
Cyclops gets you to places and acts as your mobile base/storage,
Exosuit/Seamoth are your exploration tools to get around
Seaglide is your "i'm in a tight tunnel/exploring a wreckage" close detail exploration tool

They did actually add respawning in an update though if it actually works it's really goddamn slow. It's also obviously silly to think one man can hand fish or stab enough fish out of the open ocean to actually depopulate an area. Look how many fish are in the schools you can't touch, you're not putting a dent in that without a trawler.

>>
>>147376451
I think they only respawn when eaten by other creatures. I do wish the ecosystem was more alive though. At the moment fish just swim around aimlessly and predators eat every couple of seconds.
I wish they would actually simulate feeding and mating. Creatures having specific places they like to lay eggs, distinction between males and females of certain species. maybe even mating grounds.

Same.
And pods. Passive fish AI should have them group up like those static pods of boomerangs. They stick in pod and scatter when a predator or the player comes near, then stick with others of the same species.

And color variation! Recoloring the models isn't that hard is it? Make six or seven different color variations for the smaller fauna, maybe two or three for the larger since they're so rare, and they'd seem so much more varied and diverse.

Peepers and reginalds, however if you can farm eyeeye's. They can be eaten raw, it's best to farm them and set them free around your base or in a personal cave near a place of interest.

Shot of day time, I have no idea how I'm going to light this place up. Spot lights suck because they move often and I can't get my power to daisy chain off the transmitters. So they end up getting a personal power source they don't need.

Floodlights blow because they use batteries and I don't want to exchange them constantly.

between kelp and grass lands is a great spot, the kelp lands have a lot of pain in the ass resources like fiber, lube and silver.

I suggest between red grass and kelp because if you put your base in the kelp it will clip through the structures constantly.

Second place would be either down in the great reef or at the Sparse reef like mine.>>147393867

Because all of the high tier resources spawn there, and it rests in a safe zone and helps you learn how to operate. since its only a small trip away from Tier 2 hostile fauna the Crab Squid.

>use lots of solar energy

>>
My absolute must haves that I think are reasonably realistic:

Elevators
Switches (can work on doors)
Shutters for windows (triggered by switches)
Lights on and off (switches)
Electric doors that require power
Tram system
Weather
Waves (currents?)
Bigger rooms
Pneumatic delivery system
Robo arms that can take fish out of tanks, place them in lockers or bio engines, I'd love them on a rail system but that's getting too wishful

I'd love multiplayer and legit cable lines for power, as well as some form of oxygen management, and maybe legitimate airlocks, but none of that is gonna happen.
>>
>>147396397

Grow kelp for bioreactor, keep about 2-3 reactors.

You will never see a lone Bleeder floating forlornly in the water
You will never unzip your wetsuit all the way down to your crotch letting your penis float free in the water
You will never have the Bleeder beeline to your hips and start engulfing your penis in its sucking mouth
You will never watch it work itself down your length as you get hard until it's a living condom stretched by your size
You will never feel amazing pleasure as its tentacles wrap around your thighs and balls while it sucks for all its worth
You will never have a huge orgasm and fill the Bleeder's sac to near-bursting with your seed

The devs need to take more advantage of the day night cycle. I know most fish have varying activity levels but there should be creatures that migrate zones as the time changes.

Giant squid, for example leave the depths to hunt at night
