I was correct. Most of the popular gear designs such as AF and High Allagan were by 3 artists; Takahashi, Namae and Masao. Yoshida barely designed any gear even in 1.0, and he's mostly credited for environment concept art, key art, NPC designs and art of others' designs. arcanist is useful in that you'll get a DPS and a healing job out of leveling it, and scholars are pretty much always in demand.

archer is fine, bards and machinists have guaranteed spots in eight man content that matters, more or less, though it turns into a proc fest once you get rivers of blood.

monk is pretty much the highest single target DPS in the game and fairly simple to play, also rather enjoyable in my opinion.

What? Akihiko Yoshida was the art director of 1.0 and 2.0, that means the gear and concept of the game was his influence.
Same with Uematsu. Just about the entire soundtrack of 1.0 was his work with some of it reused in 2.0.

Nobody will give you shit in dungeons.

Bad players will love you whether you suck shit or not because they only think as far as "Paladin = Shield = Harder to kill", and will be convinced that you're impossible to kill and easy to heal, even if you never use cooldowns and are objectively squishier than even an average DRK/WAR.

Good players won't care one way or another if you're farming primals, or the easy-mode raids, or anything else, because none of that shit is tuned high enough for it to matter.

The only place where it'd ever possibly matter would be doing progression raiding, and by the time you get to that point you'll almost definitely have DRK leveled too anyway, so you can play whichever is best at the time.

Paladins are the -worst- tanks for lvl 60 dungeons.
Nothing in 60 dungeons hits hard enough to need the extra mitigation that PLD brings to the table.
lvl 60 4mans are all about DPS, and PLD DPS is the lowest out of the tanks.

But the other guy shouldn't worry either way, DPS is just min-max stuff and you can do your dungeons just fine even with lower than optimal DPS.

I'm hoping we get Gunblades, but that'll probably wait until the inevitable Garlean expansion.
Ala Mhigo seems to be pretty heavily influenced by Spain, so if they decide to go off the flamboyant rapier wielding style of Red Mage that's been popular lately I could see them implementing that.
And if the story's heavily based off of resisting the Empire, it's feasible that you could encounter a Doman Ronin or something of the like as a way to shoehorn in Samurai.
I still want to learn the ways of the Gunblade from a jaded Imperial Centurion who's seen too much bloodshed in his life. Maybe a way of bringing back the poor sap in Eastern La Noscea? But I doubt they'd do Gunblade so soon after Machinist.
