Forge in 5 is godlike compared to the previous iterations. It takes some time getting to use to the new control scheme but once you get a hang of it it's practically the wc3 map editor

Charge is just a sprint + melee with more knockback than a normal melee, Boost and Thrusters are the same that's correct, Ground Pound is functional and balanced reasonably well, it takes a bit of accuracy, precise timing, and luck to get a kill with it and it's satisfying when you do pull it off.

I played 6 matches throughout today an 4 of them were darkstar, 3 of them were failures, it's the least fun map and the 3 mantis round is near impossible without at least level 5 reqs, and most of the time it happens when you're only at level 3.

my only complaint about Firefight so far is that there are a few scenarios that feel impossible.

usually where they tell you to defend a place after having spawned 9 waves of enemies inside while we are using ARs.

or where wave 2 is 2 Wardens surrounded by his big dudes with rockets.

or where they spawn a group of bosses and put 1 or most of them in a place you cant fit a tank, but insta die on foot if you even look at them. So you spend 99% of the time trying to kill them. then the final part of the wave is to kill the other 2-3 bosses that are Mythic with their own Airforce and NAvy spawning in to butt rape everyone. doesnt help that it takes 40 seconds to spawn in those rounds with only 4 minutes to the wave

It's... ok

The first 20 minutes are really impressive because of the way the tone of the game impacts the way it's played. They did a phenomenal job making the game play in a way a real person would react to being in the game. Like, you're expected to play the game as if you were the one going through this series of events.
It's also atmospherically one of if not the greatest game i've ever played.

Despite this, it's still more of a 2D walking simulator than a game. All the puzzles, for instance, have rerally no consequence. You're just stuck where you are until you figure them out. There's not more than 1 way to solve them.
Because of this, the replayability really isn't there.

It's better than Limbo and Journey, so if you liked those games, get it, otherwise stay away.

i think they should have a natural disdain for spartan 4s if anything. spartan 2s were kidnapped and trained since adolescence. theres no short cutting in practice there. half were killed in painful augmentations, something volunteer adults like ODSTs didnt worry about. there combat ability was still developed through training, and their training was much more demanding than ODSTs anyway. Spartan 4s can be regular old faggots who volunteer like any special forces in the real world, get comparable augmentations and a bunch of fancy gadgets without any of the risk, and with about an 8th of the training as spartan 2s. Sooner or later people are going to have to accept the fact that Halo gameplay is not canonical.
The way the spartan's move in-game is not the way they move in the established lore.

I realize that's bizarre, but that's just how it is. The cutscenes are more indicative of what the spartan's move like than any other part of the games.
This is just another reason why it's important that people don't refer to "the stories" as the same thing as "the campaigns"
