I would have liked factories dedicated to engines, and factories dedicated to guns, and a vehicle designer where you put together the engine, guns, and armor on a body, and even get a bonus to production if you follow historical templates. Want to save production time on aircraft by having fixed landing gear?

Save on production by sending your obsolete tanks back to the factory to become tank destroyers and self-propelled guns. Send ships back to drydock to be fitted with additional AA and radar. Send a cruiser back to drydock to be converted into a carrier.

Questions about CK2 from a newb...

I'm a Petty King of Ireland right now and it's like 780 AD. I've got one duchy and another duchy that I can't afford to make a title for yet. So my questions are:

Who should I be giving my holdings to? Men from my dynasty only?

What do I do with the bishops that I inherit from taking over a county? They always hate me and I often see the warning about losing the title when they die?

Will my vassals always want to be on the council? Should I just ignore their demand to be on it? They seem to have shitty stats most of the time.

Finally, is there anything I can do to prevent my lands from being divided up due to gavelkind succession? I figure I need to change my succession laws, but my only option is one that seems even worse. Will I get more options as time goes on?

IIRC, because you started that early Ireland started as tribal so they only have gavelkind. In 1066 you'll start as feudal and not gavelkind IIRC, so that won't be a problem. Yes, tribals can only have gavelkind, that's pretty much the only reason why people feudalize ASAP

Just keep your vassals happy, making them on council or giving holdings only to your dynasty won't really matter much, though IIRC your dynasty members love you more by default

That warning about losing the title is usually a bug, let the game run for a few days and it usually fixes itself. You can check their successors in their character pages, just make sure that dude doesn't have a higher title waiting for him in other kingdoms than yours. I guess you can figure this part yourself in character screen

The AI does stupid shit, and I mean at the high and low level it's all fucked. Overall the results for early and late game improved dramatically. At first I made the mistake of focusing too much on late game and now I balanced early game to be closer to vanilla. This implies changing a lot of things, but overall its better than shortages.
Unciv shortages is also something I need to tackle.

In any case the numbers for the economy have never been better. Demand for tea reached 30K, something I never saw before with the best in vanilla usually fluctuating around 20K in a peaceful era.

I don't have Victoria 2 at hand, but does Istanbul get a province modifier to signify its economic importance? Even though trade had mostly migrated Westwards by Victoria II's time-frame, Istanbul was still at an important crossroad. Russia was keen to annex the area near the end of the 19th century so I think there should be an incentive.


Another addition I think would be historical and fun is an 'Ottomanism' modifier for a monarchical Turkey, which reduces pop assimilation %. It's kind of annoying seeing Turks become the majority in the Arabian desert and Balkans.

No. It wasn't really important from an economical.

Russia wanted to control the dardanelles, the incentive for it already exists in the game. The Dardanelles are closed if a nation goes to war with its owner.
Besides, the small amount of economical importance the city maintained was mainly because it was the capital of a big empire.

These arabs are not assimilating, they are just turks migrating and since these places are sparly populated, they quickly become the majority. This might happen less frequently when I redo provinces in the ME to be mostly desert while most arabs live in a few habitable provinces near the big rivers.

There's no way of growing faster if not westernized. To westernize quickly you have to raise the clergymen pops to 4% and keep militancy low. After westernizing keep militancy highto get the reforms faster.
