I'm curious, why does everyone think the game is so casual?

Where does the element of luck come into Overwatch that makes it less like StarCraft and more like Mario Kart?

Is it simply the aspect of it being a team game? Is it ultimates? Can't using ultimates be considered a form of skill given that everyone has them.

I think two teams who are both highly skilled will pretty much always end up involving a lot of team coordination and just raw skill from the players.

Comp Overwatch is actually pretty interesting because it involves thoughtful team composition, positioning, and intelligent choices regarding when to push, when to die, and more.

Casual Overwatch isn't luck based in the sense that your fate is decided by a coin flip, but you have much less control of the game when you're good than you do when you're bad. For example, if you're a shitty Roadhog who mostly acts as a human pin cushion and gives the enemy easier ults, you're making the game much harder for your team without realizing it.

It has a decent skill ceiling. It's just astronomically lower than games like sc2 and moba's.

There is just so much more thought and depth to those games and so many more variables that effect decisions and how you play. I speak regularly to someone who has coached both korean sc2 pro's and korean league pro's. Including some of the best players in the scene.

They just have infinitely more depth at the top level. Overwatch is mostly just aim, smart picks and co-ordination.

Fps games are inherantly less skillfull than games like moba's and sc2 because it's just 90% aim. And i'd still rank csgo as being a more skilled game than this.

Depends on how Blizzard adapts their anti cheat and prices the game. Overwatch has an inherent advantage over CSGO since it actually costs a substantial amount of money. So long as the price is there, it'll prevent people from constantly repurchasing the game at almost free prices.

Cheating was so rampant at the top levels of CSGO that when a giant ban wave happened in 2015, everyone got bumped up like 2 ranks because most the top ranks got vacated (which has been reversed from 2016's mass deranking). Pretty good, 50+% accuracy usually coincides with the point where I feel like I've done well as McCree. You're going to have to go for more headshots eventually though, I've got nearly double your crit rate and still often feel like I'm not being helpful. McCree is in a weird spot right now, I feel like Soldier does nearly everything better, much more consistently.
