Dragon's Dogma takes some elements from Monster Hunter (mostly the fact that you fight big monsters and that heavy weapons actually feel heavy) and Devil May Cry, then adds its own thing to the mix.
If you like either of those two, or both of them then I think it's likely you will enjoy DD

>What makes Dragon's Dogma unique?
It's a single player action game at its core, but creating your own pawn and setting up a party with the proper combination of skills adds a layer of depth to it. Pawns can be good at combat, but never really quite good enough to be left completely on their own, so it's more like they complement you instead of taking your place.

Waifu potential?
Well, you can make a perfect waifu pawn who will accompany you everywhere and fight by your side, but you can't actually romance her, so if that's what you want then no, can't be done.

>(mostly the fact that you fight big monsters and that heavy weapons actually feel heavy)
Also, you know, the crucial thing that sets Monster Hunter apart from most ARPGs which is that you actually go out and fight bosses specifically to chop parts of them off to upgrade your weapons and armour rather than to progress the story (usually). Apart from that (which Dark Souls also has to an extent) the only things that make it more MH than DS are how varied weapon classes are and gathering materials from the environment (also to upgrade shit and make healing items).

>>146875851
Unfortunately magick archer levels are generally detrimental to a magick archer. I feel like MA got shafted because its stat gains should have been identical to strider's; meanwhile strider's should be more like MA's but favouring physical attack, since striders don't use magic anyway.

That said, MA gets okay magic growth (the same as strider, in fact!) so that isn't a huge concern. Framae blades give 1429 physical attack when gold forged. Using the framae the difference between a pure MA, an optimal phys/mag mix and a pure assassin is 11% between the first and second, 17% between the second and third and 30% between the first and third, significant but not all-important considering you'll be stacking loads of 20% buffs by the end anyway.

If you're dead set on minmaxing, I recommend a balance of pure offence (use iframes and instant reset, you don't need defence): start as strider and starting at level 10 go 81 levels in assassin then the next 109 as sorcerer and get 601 attack and 604 magick attack.

But if you just grab like maybe 10 levels pre-level-100 as assassin and start as a fighter you'll be fine. You'll be picking up probably about 5 each warrior and sorcerer levels at some point to get their rank 9 augments anyway. Here's what that would look like

Hey /ddg/ long ass post coming but I hope some of you might be able to help.

I don't like to shill but I'm completely out of rift crystals(?) and I really don't know a reliable way of getting more so that's my problem number one.
Secondly I'd like to ask help in making a proper good pawn out of this one, she's scather/guardian and I'd like for her to become one of those dragon's maw spammers instead so I'm trying to get the RC for the elixirs and I'm in the process of doing casual BBI excursions in hopes of getting exp/vocation ranks, am I/the pawn overleveled for the area? each fight feels pretty darn tough.

Also, tips for augments/strats for fighter pawns? I know I want her to be a tank-ish character but as for my arisen I really don't have a clue, I haven't maxed out a single vocation yet and I'm currently a ranger but I really don't know if it's a good choice, the stat growths have me worried.
>>
>>146881932
Also I really don't understand how as a ranger my longbow is doing ass damage while swinging daggers at enemies seems to wreck shit like I was playing strider/assassin, is there a powerspike or am I missing something?
>>
>>146881924
Biggest thing to remember is that minmaxing doesn't matter much since it's a non-competitive singleplayer game, I just recommend some assassin/warrior levels to even out the offencive stats.
>>
I honestly don't get why they didn't bother to put in SOME kind of aiming system for bombs. Literally no reason not to be able to aim slightly up without having to bloody jump.
>>
>>146881932
>>146882336
I'll give you a hire for a while as I go through the main story a bit.

>am I/the pawn overleveled for the area?
Nah, there's no such thing as underleveled in BBI1.0 since it's actually well-designed to enable you to get through at any level (the first major boss even has a huge box of throwblasts right before you fight it so if you don't hit its damage threshold you can still kill it ezpz with those), but you're not overleveled for BBI1.0 until about level 70 either I'd say.

>Also, tips for augments/strats for fighter pawns?
Clout, the rank 9 warrior augment, is invaluable for any class that uses physical weapons. It's a passive 20% attack boost, stacks multiplicatively with other augments and periapts. I don't know otherwise though.

How many ranks are you as ranger? Tenfold flurry (rank 5 skill) is the best dps ranger can get I believe, and ranger with blast arrows and tenfold is ludicrously powerful and can even kill the final boss of BBI2.0 in a few seconds. Ranger gets the best stamina growth, probably to facilitate spamming tenfold. I think ranger is still lacking for everyday use compared to the other yellow vocations, but yellows are just really strong in general.

Thanks for the hire and the tips, really appreciate it, come to think of it I did think throwblasts were a bit OP, feels like I aught to carry some with me all time
>>
>>146883819
Because bombs are extremely powerful, having to learn their trajectory and get close when you throw them as well as losing mobility when holding one is how they're balanced.

Have you tried coin purses of charity yet? They do like 3x as much as throwblasts.

Purty kewl. Kinda makes me think of The Rock.

Quina looks odd, though.
>>
>>146881932
>she's scather / guardian
Don't use the Guardina inclination ever. It only makes the pawn stay closer to you, which is really bad, since he won't fight enemies unless they're close. I'm playing sorcerer and the last thing I want from a fighter is him getting close to me and bringing all the enemies to me while I cast.
If you replace Guardian with something better I'll hire her. Check the New /ddg/ Pawn Sheet if you want other pawns as reference.
>>
>>146888638
Quina always looked odd.
That's why she's not the best grill.
>>
>>146889134
There are times when guardian is nice, though it's certainly a lot better on ranged classes. A guardian/utilitarian sorcerer for example.

Problem is you end up having to use the "come" command a lot to direct pawns and that increments their guardian inclination at an unfortunate rate. Meanwhile I hate scather because it makes them do that "HANG ON GOTTA SHIT MY PANTS" gesture all the time
>>
>>146889350
Best grill would be Aelinoire. Letting Grigori burn Aelinoire in exchange for immortality and a kingdom? Easy choice.
>>
>>146889573
>There are times when guardian is nice, though it's certainly a lot better on ranged classes.
Why would want your pawns to stay close to you? That usually means more enemies too, making it harder for you and easier for them to hit you and your pawn.
>A guardian/utilitarian sorcerer for example.
Yeah, sorc pawns don't cancel their spells often enough, so I'll give them that inclination so they also cancel spells to reposition closer to me.
>>
Alright, just bought the game.
is there a spoiler-free list of things I need to absolutely know before starting? Stuff that'll fuck me over in the long run, or will be a tremendous boon if done early?
>>
>>146890062
>Why would want your pawns to stay close to you?
Because they can catch you if you're flung or dropped or jump from a high place? Not everyone is playing a sorcerer with three fighter pawns expecting the pawns to just draw aggro somewhere else. The only inclination that's always bad is acquisitor.

>Yeah, sorc pawns don't cancel their spells often enough, so I'll give them that inclination so they also cancel spells to reposition closer to me.
Utilitarian sorcerers don't cancel their spells if you're casting the same spell, you share the same spell meter (as in, if one of you is knocked down, the other continues casting and you can pick the spell back up at the point they're at), you cast everything faster the more sorcs you have casting it, and they have to reposition closer to you to synchronise in the first place. Assuming you, the player, are smart enough to position yourself well for long casts, this is pretty much all ideal. Of course, if you want a sorcerer who will chain cast with other sorcerer pawns while the player plays something other than sorc, guardian is a bad thing.
http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Spell_Synching
>>
>>146890260
Don't worry about noticeboard quests, those are "grab and forget" type of things that you will accomplish eventually, but if an NPC tells you to do something you should REALLY consider it since quests with actual story can be cancelled if you progress too far
>>
>>146890260
The sooner you talk to the mysterious woman on the docks the more fun you'll have (she shows up in cassardis after an early point in the story)

Don't put your pawn in the queen's set, it just looks tacky. Dress pawns for fashion

Like >>146891250 said story sidequests can be missed if you go too far on the main story. On the other hand new game+ is an opportunity to do things you missed so don't worry about it enough to read a guide until then.
>>
>>146891250
>>146891636
sweet, thanks.
>>
>>146890984
So higher chance of pawns catching you when harpy-like enemies grab you is worth having your pawn bringing the enemies to you. Nice priorities.

>Not everyone is playing a sorcerer with three fighter pawns expecting the pawns to just draw aggro somewhere else.
I play with 0 fighters, because I don't really need them since I can manage aggro perfectly fine, but I don't want to get hit because a pawn was hugging my ass and I get hit by an attack directed to him.

>Utilitarian sorcerers don't cancel their spells if you're casting the same spell
Sorc pawns saving 2 seconds before they start synching is worth them bringing the enemies to you. Good luck casting when you there aren't any safe places outside of the enemies reach.

>I'll link the wiki Spell Synching article like you didn't know what you're talking about.
>>
>>146892568
Guardian as an inclination is okay early-game for mages. Keeping your little buddy close to you so his enchantments come faster, or so you can defend him while he's healing are pretty neat.
>>
I'm a level 86 warrior. Is BBI supposed to be hard as shit at this level?
>>
>>146892568
>So higher chance of pawns catching you when harpy-like enemies grab you is worth having your pawn bringing the enemies to you.
No, I was naming one benefit. Having your pawn bring enemies to you is only bad if you're a ranger or sorcerer by the way (you shouldn't be a mage in the first place).

>I play with 0 fighters, because I don't really need them since I can manage aggro perfectly fine, but I don't want to get hit because a pawn was hugging my ass and I get hit by an attack directed to him.
What do you do about attacks directed at you? You're a terrible player, you're always hugging your own ass and drawing aggro.

>Sorc pawns saving 2 seconds before they start synching is worth them bringing the enemies to you.
I don't even know how to respond to idiocy of this magnitude.
>>
>>146893827
No but BBI is hard as shit for warriors period. Warrior and fighter are the worst vocations for bitterblack but especially warrior.
>>
>>146893827
It isn't. Ton of people do BBI as soon as they get to level 10.
>>
>>146894004
>>146894041

Level 10? So I'm assuming everything here scales then? I can run through any enemy in the main story but everything here is tanky as fuck. Even the smaller enemies.
>>
>>146894275
>Level 10? So I'm assuming everything here scales then?
No. There's no scaling whatsoever in the game.
>>
>>146884339

Pretty sure you can do that too if you click down on the left stick.
>>
>>146893851
Fuck off, shitposter.
>>
>>146894275
>So I'm assuming everything here scales then?
Nope! It's in perma-hardmode too. It's just that the environment is designed to be exploitable by ranged classes and between endgame-tier weapon drops from the first area (if you're lucky) and various items and environmental weapons (like bomb barrels) at key points where a low-level character would have the most trouble, you can succeed at any level if you're clever and cautious. It's like all the dev time that didn't go into polishing the main game was added to BBI as surplus.
>>
>>146894505
I'm not the one regurgitating stale memes, nor the one who has apparently only ever played one vocation since level 10.
>>
>>146894358

lol what? There's no fucking way. I have a full dragonforged grisly bone set and a dragonforged dwells in light greatsword and some of the enemies still kick the shit out of me. Like the giant wargs for example. Takes fucking forever to kill them and I have to spam curatives the whole time.
>>

>>
>>146895334
git gud
Also, weapons you find in BBI are much stronger than the weapons you find in Gransys
>>
>>146895334
I really don't like saying that, but you seriously need to "git gud". I started BBI myself when I was about level 60. It wasn't exactly easy, but at the same time I never needed to look for help. And I was playing offline too, so with the mediocre stock pawns. The best advice I can give you other than to get better would be to just dodge really difficult enemies and level up on easier ones. Try to get bitterblack weapons, too, by purifying them, especially level 2 ones.

see
>but BBI is hard as shit for warriors period
The problem is that warriors have only exodus slash as a defencive skill and rely on superarmour to poise through hits and high knockdown to avoid taking subsequent hits by knocking down and then curbstomping foes, and BBI enemies do astronomical diarrhoea shitloads of damage per hit and are highly resistant to knockdown. If you must play warrior I recommend throwblasts.

for assassin specifically, thousand/hundred kisses is the only real must-have. With opportunism it can be very beastly.

Strider and MA have more diverse dagger builds since they get better skills.

Actually that first encounter isn't random. They throw Death at you early in BBI so that you know it's a bad idea to try to take him down until you're ready.

But yeah, he despawns if you go to a different area, and afterwards it's mostly a matter of chance, though killing more things is supposed to attract him. He also won't know you're there unless he shines his lantern on you or one of your pawns, so if he does show up, stay out of line-of-sight, and use the Come command for your pawns to keep them too busy jerking off to make trouble.

I think it's recommended to attempt BBI at lvl 40+. Even the tier 1 gear has minimum level requirements of 32. So, go in as far as you're comfortable with if you're only level 24.
>>
>>146881932
I'll take her out now in a minute but I'm seconding changing the guardian inclination. Scather/challenger is probably alright and you can throw in pioneer to keep the pawn further away from you but guardian will just result in a pawn too preoccupied with your arisen to actually be helpful. Reds are good when they're aggressive.

You folk should play through the main game before you go to bitterblack isle. You can almost consider the main game to be the tutorial for Bitterblack Island, if you would.

>>
>>146916404
it's hard mode BBI that's a problem for warriors. Enemy damage is doubled, stamina usage spikes, and it becomes very difficult to knock anything down.
>>
>>146916319
BBI's difficulty remains as challenging as ever, even after completing the main game because none of the gear in the game remotely compares to what you can get on BBI. You will NOT trivialize it by playing through the story first.
>>

I thought bbi was at its own difficulty no matter what you did. And how do you even run out of stamina as a warrior? The defensive augments get a huge boost in hard mode too.

The difficulty is still pretty exaggerated.
>>
>>146917535
no, BBI gets harder just like everything else. Give it a shot if normal is too ez pz. Warrior has a notably tougher time in HM BBI 2.0 than the rest of the classes.

Masterful kill is pretty much what sets assassin apart from other classes and makes it more than a mixed fighter-strider. It's good if you're in the 1% of people that actually like assassin's creed's combat I guess.
>>
>>146908628
ALL THE WAY NIGGER SEE >>146895839
THAT'S LEVEL 31 AND WAY PAST THE MIDNIGHT HELIX

I recommend either ignoring the gorecyclops or cheesing it with ranged attacks from the doorway. Then work your way up killing the mages one by one, try not to use anything with much commitment and remember they don't have much health. The real threat here is the gargoyle, make sure you bring secret softeners if you have them and if you can hire a mage with lightning spells if you don't have any yourself (levin might be best), gargoyles are weak to lightning. Alternately, if you can juke the gargoyle, just bolt for the top, grab the key and liftstone out, you can now open the grated door in the duskmoon tower.
>>
are the later assassin skills even worth it?
I never see anyone recommend or even really talk about spider bite or easy kill unless they're talking about their upgraded versions?
>>
>>146924319
Spider bite doesn't really work, better to use arrows or rusted bow.

I like the fancy windmill move but it's not that good either.
>>
>>146924319
Spider/snakebite is really satisfying to pull off but only effective on smaller enemies (humanoid or smaller). Masterful kill is actually pretty strong but it's really shitty to use from a gameplay perspective (it's basically an assassassass creed counter attack), thousand kisses or gouge and climbing are your bread and butter.
>>
>>146914337
I sort of got around this by only doing the first two sections of BBI and not using any BBI equipment I collected until after Grigori.

But then I went through Daimon 2.0 after that before I really did anything around Gransys post-Dragon, let alone the Everfall, and that was super underwhelming when I got to it.

Is it weird that I almost want to do a playthrough as a support mage magic archer? Loading up on buff/debuff skills and not really doing much in the ways of direct damage. Seems like it would be a fun change of pace. Maybe a strider pawn? Or warrior/fighter? I'm not sure.
>>
>>146937463
So shackle, rebalancer, immolation or something, bracer, ward, vortex trail and perdition? I'd recommend a sorc pawn to benefit from rebalancer and handle magic shit since you'd still have a skill free on your daggers for something that deals physical damage like immolation or hundred kisses or sunflare.
>>
>>146935583
That's not bright at all, you just don't have a proper filter for the glow and it's showing colour banding.
>>
>>146937463
I tried that as a Mage and it was kinda fun but not as much as I expected tbqh
This >>146937643 sounds like a much better idea, I think.
>>
>>146937583

I was actually thinking of packing a rusted staff for sweet cursing action but yeah, pretty much that. Grab those mystic knight augments to buff pawns on revival and either stack spell screens or rebalancers. Could be fun.

Not quite the same, but I actually had a pretty good time using that DLC archistaff that gets stronger as you land spells but drains your stamina if you get hit. Leveling pure sorc and the buff gets pretty huge, and the stamina loss adds to the glass cannon feel. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
>>
>>146937463
I do that sometimes for my sorcerer pawn and have a really good time with it. If you're set on not doing much damage yourself you could throw in golden/aneled/rusted daggers for some debilitations too. Rebalancer makes the best magic bow valid even at low base magic so it's not like you'll even be completely defenseless.

Yeah some of those dlc weapons have the potential to be really fantastic. The heracles sword scales almost purely on your physical attack but when goldforged has a 2/7 chance to do a 10x damage critical hit that, for instance, with a build that leveled solely as fighter and assassin (highest attack possible) will be the equivalent of a roughly 10k attack weapon (sans periapts of course).

Why does Mage pales in comparison to other blue vocations even though Mages have restorative spell?
>>

Capcom was silly and didn't give them a proper fighting role, like... I don't know, holy magic.

Think he means unique holy spells. Of course I'm sure they'd still be outclassed by HFB.

Were mages' healing spells better than curatives it would be a worthwhile vocation. The only good and truly unique thing mages get is grapnel and grapnel mages are the only kind I'd ever hire.

What is your top, absolutely most hated enemy in the game? The one that makes you want to bang your head on the desk in frustration, whenever you spot it in your path.

For me, it's Strigoi. They hit hard, fast as fuck, got the most annoying grab attack and you cannot run away from them if their focus is on you.

Ghosts, because I have yet to hire a pawn that knows how to fight the fuckers and they waste so much of your time by not even being there. It's completely tedious and I hate waiting for the fuckers to appear so I can get a single hit on them.

If you wanna focus on magic get some levels as a sorc. If you wanna focus on knives level as an assassin. Otherwise just grab whatever augments you want and play the dang class. MA has enough utility shit to make up for pretty much any weakness. Just play the dang class if you want to.

Yeah, your stats matter, but not so much to where it makes any sense to avoid playing the class you want to. You can make that shit up in so many other ways. Don't force yourself to play classes you don't like because numbers.

>>
>>146976039
The one that makes you able to carry more shit, Predation and maybe that one augment from Sorcerer/Mage that reduces magick damage taken.
>>
>>146975042
Potent greenwarish/kingwarish, panacea, give my pawn or any medicants mushroom potage and spring water, give all pawns secret softener. All of those except spring water which can be more easily had from the peninsula are either common in BBI or made from ingredients common there.

>>146975913
If you purify some level 1 bitterblack weaponry you might get a cyclops sigil, which is a decent post-game (actually mid-game thanks to BBI) hammer. It has much more attack than the triple tooth.

Personally playing warrior what I found best was exodus slash for hairy situations and dealing with hordes (surprisingly corona slash didn't seem very good for that, I'd usually get interrupted trying it), the jumping attacks, especially the jumping heavy, with the strider augment that increases jump attack strength by 30% and the warrior augment that increases the power of core skills as bread-and-butter, and arc of deliverance for seeing multiple healthbars go away at once.

Sometimes pawns will comment on battle tactics and areas so it's worth listening to them if you're having trouble. This is of course totally dependant on the pawn having the knowledge, but it shouldn't be too hard to hire one that knows what to be doing. Keep an eye out for a red pop up bubble above your pawns heads.
>>
>>146991029
Pawns also just innately know about some weaknesses/tactics it seems. They tell you exactly what to do in the gazer fight.
>>
>>146991130
do they say "don't forget about those 25 throwblasts you picked up from barroch, master"
>>
>>146991434
Nah but they tell you about turning away from its gaze to avoid being petrified, about getting the large tentacle to attack the eye and about utilising its magic cannon against it.

I have a bit of a problem. I previously lost my save so instead of killing myself 800 times in the everfall again, I decided just to use an editor for get my everfall items back for my fresh game (although for the sake of fairness I don't intend to use them until I get to BBI).
I've managed to open the ddda.sav file in notepad via DDsavetool.exe, but now haven't the faintest fucking idea as to where to start.
It definitely works, it's just that the save file is fucking huge text-wise. If I just want to add items to my storage, what should I be looking for?

Hey lads

Just bought the game and I already made it into the main city & I'm doing these duke quests n shit.

The thing is, I'm in dire need of a quick travel mod because this game is witcher1 level of boring if I need to travel across all the fucking map every fucking time just to get 1 quest done.

tl;dr: any mods to make the game less boring?
>>
>>146992962
there's an infinite ferrystone in your storage
basically lets you fast travel

Also, get portcrystals so you can tleeport to them
>>
>>146992378

You're on your own for item IDs.
>>
>>146993207
but that would only work to go back to town, right? I wanna go back n forth senpai
>>
>>146992962
Funny thing is that made me think how we take fast travel in games for granted.

On one side, not having fast travel can make a game more immersive, as you need to plan out your travels accordingly. I can still remember my first Dragon's Dogma run where going to the blue moon tower and back WAS in itself an adventure.

On the other hand, not having fast travel can make a game tedious and frustrating. The travels can feels like padding the game.

Also fuck escort missions to the other side of the country, fast travel or not.
>>
>>146993413
you can use your eternal ferrystone to teleport to anywhere you slap down a portcrystal and can always teleport to locations where there's the portcrystal circle, such as the Pawn Guild in Gran Soren and right outside Cassadris

you get more and more portcrystals as you progress through the game, and you can also duplicate them at the Black Cat in Gran Soren

there are plenty of really great places to thrown one down, such as the Extermination Zone, the Shadow Fort, or the healing pool in the fields north of Gran Soren, a little past the river

How to git gud
1: find some bitterblack weapons level 2 or 3
2: save and make your pawn and yourself blues
3: purify the weapons, if you get a magic bow skip to 6
4: kill yourself or quit without saving, then make your pawn and yourself yellows
5: if you get a magic bow keep going, else return to 1
6: switch to magic archer and equip the bow
7: grind vocation ranks if necessary, and equip ricochet hunter on your magic bow and magic rebalancer on your daggers; upgrade the bow if possible
congrats you're "good" now

no, you get back a "Gold Idol Forgery"
as far as I can tell the stuff you get back from Monteblanc will be perfectly usable so long as it's not a specific quest item, like you can duplicate crafting materials like Silk for example and I even think you can create portcrystals too, but other things like the Gold Idol or Salomet's Tome will be returned as forgeries and have their own set of consequences if you use them

I think what you're supposed to do is give the real Gold Idol to whoever wants to for the quest (otherwise they figure out it's a fake) and keep the forgery in your inventory for the discount

though I never paid any attention to how it all works so don't take my word for it, I just think it's fun sending pawns back with forgeries of cool things

I've been wondering the same thing while posting the good ones I know. I always try and have Monteblanc be forging/duplicating something for me so I always have materials for upgrading and nice gifts for good little pawn girls and boys

the Wyrmcrest Ring is fantastic since you can complete the quests with the forgery and keep the real deal for yourself
I mentioned the Gift Ledger and the Chamberlain's Affidavit for the quests, and Gold Idol
I hear conflicting things about duplicate portcrystals working the same as 'real' ones but I haven't tried it myself so I can't confirm
I think the item you get towards the end of the game (Arisen's Bond?) still works fine if you duplicate it, so you can go around maxing out your affinity with anyone you want
I gave a forged Salomet's Tome for the quest so I hope he gets eaten by a griffon, but apparently it's also a usable item that casts some lightning spell so that's cool to have too

>is not going to be fun for them because they'll get oneshoted constantly?
I'm mostly telling people that ask if they're underleveled at 60-100 that they are not, because they seriously aren't. At that point you're already overleveled for like the first half of BBI 1.0, postgame/ng+ (the latest you could go to BBI without going through ng+ first) is typically done for by ~level 50 if you don't stop to grind extensively somewhere along the way.

Anyway going to BBI ASAP is by far the most enjoyable way to play the game, unless you're the kind of person that just like "press x repeatedly to win" in which case I don't think you're any more qualified to tell someone how to play.

Building on the other advice, I like carrying a portcrystal around with me in early levels so I can just plop it down anytime I need to make a quick run to town, eternal ferrystone my way there, then eternal ferrystone back and pick it back up. Really wish there were a BBI equivalent to port crystals so you could do the same there--it'd make vocation grinding while min-maxing much easier.

I am noticing that nobody uses their Gamertags in the [Name] field here anymore. I take it that's because of the transition to PC?

Basically I have a decent PC and $39.76 in my Steam Wallet. I'd buy it easy if it was 10 buck$ but it's $20... is it worth it senpai? How big is the pawn-moonity?

Nobody posts with names anymore because the PC version is weird and you have to go through a bunch of loops to even find people's pawns or something. I don't know exactly how it is because I don't play the PC version.

>It's not that hard to find pawns, idk if it was easier on 360
You just type a person's GT in and the pawn pops up. I hear it's weirder on PC since you can't search people's IDs or something?

I don't think the change in /ddg/ has anything to do with LEEJUN fags or anything. Namefagging has always generally been bad, but DD is a game where the social aspect is a key component of it, so namefagging actually served a purpose here.

>Jessie Slaughter

Ah, yeah, you have to search by level and vocation on PC. People you add to friends via steam have their pawns show up in your rift automatically though, which I imagine is the same as it was on 360.

>That shit was like, way back in 2010? Maybe before that? No idea what you think that has to do with /ddg/.
It's the slippery slope from that. There were always leejunfags but the huge influx of new users surrounding and following that bought into it a lot more. Since the problem has exponentially increased since then, it's more of a problem all the time.
>>

>they've all been mage/sorcerer shit.
You can't reroll for them completely by save scumming but you can influence the outcome. The outcome is set in stone but there's three possible outcomes based on your class. Each vocation will always return the same outcome for the next Bitterblack _____ level #, but the hybrid vocations can be either of their colours for that, and non-hybrids are always their own colour. The outcome is based on colour. Your pawn also affects the roll. If you're playing a MK with a strider pawn for example you can get anything from a weapon roll, but if you and your pawn are both mages you can only get things for mage, sorcerer, magick archer and mystic knight. If you're playing MK, for example, and looking for something in particular, you can reset if you don't get what you want from blue shit and make you and your pawn both fighters to see what your red rolls are. Same applies if you and your pawn are different vocations to check for gear for both of you, like for example if you're a ranger with a fighter pawn or something you can check both red and yellow this way.

Tripfags have always been shit on, long before everything with jessie slaughter. I'm honestly not even sure what that has to do with it exactly but it's not like I followed it all that closely. I personally don't care about people using trips if it serves a purpose like it does here but the whole thing runs in opposition to the idea of an anonymous image board so it's not like I don't understand people who have a problem with it either. Seems to me like there's fault on both sides of the argument.

An idea is just something that exists in your head or in practice. A board with a name field, that actually exists in reality. It's called 4chan.

Any leejun person who feels slighted by names being used to play a game together is a fool.

Seriously, there's benefits to the whole thing. Old /ddg/ partook of all of them because we weren't 100% socially stupid.

But to a dumb guy who's been fucking himself with his rigid 4chan "culture" any cool shit that might happen to a namefag or tripfag is cheating. Anything they do is offensive, even if they're trying to do something good or are interesting people. The dumb guy actually has the balls to get jealous and demonize people over something he'd never let himself do I guess.

I see a name field, I see the image upload ability. Tears and misery in response to this? Rethink your life.

That's amusing, because in the very old days of 4chan, it was really common to post with names/trips all the time. All derivative imageboard sites did the same as well. Anyway, people used to post here with names because it was free advertising to get your pawn hired.
I'd probably start posting with my name again if I ever get to replaying DD.

The parry skills work pretty well if you are good at timing the parries in the first place (i myself am terrible at it). I find having to recast the elemental buffs so often pretty boring, but get good at it and you can put out good damage while being pretty much untouchable.

>Is leveling Attack on Magick Archer necessary? Could I just do fine pure mage?
It's not necessary, you can do fine with pure magic, and in fact leveling either attack stat is never NECESSARY. However, leveling attack will be very beneficial. On the other hand if you specialise and level a bunch as sorcerer as well then you'll have magic that's that much more powerful I guess.

Why doesn't Barroch regain his heart and turn to dust when you slay the Dragon? Or Olra for that matter. Are they actually dead and just particularly solid ghosts haunting BBI at this point? It would explain why Barroch is surprised you're able to come and go and why he and Olra can't I guess. Also that's assuming Grigori is even the dragon that took their hearts and not a previous Dragon from before Savan.
>>
>>147077941
BBl exists outisde of time and space. Olra, Grette, Ashe and Barroch probably come from an alternate universe. It's also possible what you see is just remnants of them and not actually themselves.

Clearly doesn't exist outside of time, as time passes while you're there. Outside of local space maybe, it's another plane/universe which is explicitly mentioned early on iirc. But all the worlds seem to be connected by the rift and fairly similar. Grigori emerges from the rift in the intro cinematic as well, suggesting one dragon is shared across the worlds (and the similar worlds you enter through the everfall still recognise you as the arisen and are essentially the same as your original world, so there's that). Basically I don't think being on another plane of existence or whatever is especially relevant to the matter.

Being some kind of gestalt ghosts is also a plausible reason you can't interact with them physically though. Can't pick them up, can't damage them. Of course it's also entirely possible the reason for all of the above is they provide unique services to the player and capcom didn't want to make them not arisen but also didn't want to take those services away when the dragon is slain or you foolishly attack barroch or something.

>>147078371

They're mostly useless in Normal except for the fight against Daimon and maybe for memery with Sorcerers

>Are stamina consumables as useless as they seem?
I'll say yes but some might argue about that here. Later on you might find Liquid Vim indispensable for climbing some really big monsters (and it can't be bought anywhere).

> Is there an easy way to target enemies with throwing objects like Foreign Knives or explosive barrels?
Sadly no. Do your best aiming manually.

> Should I spend my time combining random stuff to figure out recipes, or just look up guides?
Look up guides if there's something you want. Crafting is generally a useless mechanic in this game though. (Again my opinion, but I don't think many will disagree besides maybe for crafting skeleton keys or something.)

>is there anyway to make sure my main pawn will case Anodyne on command?
Medicant inclination will have them cast it more often. Calling for help during combat will get pawns mostly to head your way and cast buffs/heals on you.
>>
>>147080951
>I am NEVER lacking for stamina in the middle of a fight, and I wouldn't break the flow of combat to use one instead of refraining from special attacks for 2 seconds.

I very rarely use them in combat myself, only on those occasions when I cast a big spell and I run out of stamina since that leaves me vulnerable. Other than that, I think they are most useful when you are running from one place to another, not in actual combat.

>Is there an easy way to target enemies with throwing objects like Foreign Knives or explosive barrels? Or do I just estimate it?

Never use those tbqh but there is no lock-on when using items so to speak. Not as far as I know, anyway.

>> Should I spend my time combining random stuff to figure out recipes, or just look up guides?

Some combinations are not particularly intuitive, I'd say use guides for this one.

>> I get the basics of the Inclination system, but is there anyway to make sure my main pawn will case Anodyne on command? What do Left/Right on the Dpad even do in combat?

Expecting pawns to do something on command is kind of iffy. With Anodyne for example, the best you can do is set up inclinations so your pawn will use it automatically when your health reaches a certain percentage.
The "Help!" command gets you different results depending on vocation; Mages are more likely to enchant your weapons if you use it, I think.
>>
Mushroom Potages for great gamble spam is pretty useful, otherwise stamina consumables aren't all that useful.
>>

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2889601 (GTX 960)

Only real difference I can see is the graphic card and the first comes with SSD.
>>
>>147080951
>Are stamina consumables as useless as they seem?
Absolutely not though it may depend a bit on vocation. Like warrior I've almost never run out of stamina with, sorcerer struggles with stamina pretty badly and most vocations are in between somewhere. On Hard you use more stamina so they're even more valuable there, but just in general stamina consumables mean you can use special skills more (you probably aren't far enough for those to be great though) and run farther. Later when you have loads of stamina they become less important.

>Is there an easy way to target enemies with throwing objects like Foreign Knives or explosive barrels? Or do I just estimate it?
No easy way, just have to learn the arc. Throwing weapons are powerful though, so it's a tradeoff along with the fact that they eat up carry weight.

>Should I spend my time combining random stuff to figure out recipes, or just look up guides?
I mean I'd just look it up personally to know what I needed but when you have the ingredients the recipe should show up on its own when you choose one of them to combine.

>I get the basics of the Inclination system, but is there anyway to make sure my main pawn will case Anodyne on command? What do Left/Right on the Dpad even do in combat?
Medicant and the help command will make that pretty consistent I think. I don't use healers though so I'm not sure. Help makes pawns heal you or come to your aid (if you're pinned/grabbed, if you run out of stamina, if your health is critical and they have group curatives), go makes pawns go in the direction you point and attack enemies or open chests there, come makes pawns stop what they're doing and come to your side which is helpful to keep them from dying or doing something you don't want them to like attacking a particular enemy or opening a chest they shouldn't. Each also increments some inclinations; IIRC go raises scather, come raises guardian and help raises medicant, but I think there's others I've forgotten.

750 ti will not play this game that well, it's underpowered.

I wasn't voting for anything. I was giving my question context.

Back to school, noob.

My PC uses a 750ti and runs DD mostly fine on 1080 with max settings.

SSD is a waste of money though imo

SSDs are great if you like starting your computer up instantaneously. But hold off on buying one at the moment, because there's a better technology coming out soon.

How do I build a good Warrior?

A 960 is vastly superior to a 750 ti. If you want to run DD better, I'd go with that one.

just carry fish and other random expire crap, and dump it if you dont use it before it poisons you

It's got very low vram and runs anything but smoothly in my PC.

>>147087126
I've got a 750ti and DD played perfectly fine.

Unless you're using an intensive ENB or something DD doesn't require jack shit for power. With an i3, r9 270x and ENB with no DOF or AO I usually sit at 60 fps with rare dips to ~45 in some areas. A few times I've had a weird dip to like 10 for a few seconds, probably when enemies spawn in.

Well there you go. A requirement for stable 60 means stable 60. DD does run incredibly easy on PC though, gotta admire a great port.
>>
>>147087613
But is it cheaper than SSDs?
>>
>>147088574
That is again with an ENB, though. Without that I can guarantee that except for maybe those occasions when it just straight up drops about a hundred frames loading enemies in I'd always get 60.

Am I going to have a bad time as a warrior? I thought they seemed fun and I liked the concept but I hear that they are best used on a pawn.
>>
>>147089065
Frames dropping with enemies spawning I'd attribute to your CPU rather than your graphics card by the way.
>>
>>147089168

They're fun if that's what you're into. I always go for the big sword in any rpg that I play so I might be a little biased. It's also good if you want a challenge when you get to BBI. Get the real Guts experience by pulling through every fight by the skin of your teeth.

That's two anons who haven't had problems with running DD on a 750ti, lad.

Was your processor shit or something?

Arc of Deliverance is one of the single best and most satisfying skills in any game ever.

There is truly no reason for this bullshit when mages and sorcerers get 6. I don't even like warrior aesthetically, I think oversized weapons look stupid and while it's a fun class it isn't the most fun imo, but that really is just a baffling design decision. Unless like >>147036239
and >>147089369 said it was deliberately to make it more like you're Guts since the devs have a huge boner for Berserk.
