primals are different since you can just farm them and figure out new stuff each kill and improve your performance which is fun and why I like to spend time doing it
I'll probably try some dps job next but those tend to be a lot more setup dependent to parse well on which can be frustrating

I disagree with that. I think Frontlines rectifies much of the problem with the games distinctly PvE nature because it's such a big battle field that one on one encounters between classes don't really make a difference. Some classes in PvP are way better than others (AST shitting all over SCH in PvP despite the opposite in PvE), but when you have that many people playing at once the differences don't matter.
The problem I have with Frontlines is that they got the formula for it right the first time with Secure, and they've deviated away from it since, despite everyone practically asking for it back.
Secure was good because it mixed medium scale battles with larger ones, so there was no 2v1 bullshit like with what happens in Seize and Shatter. For god knows what reason they released a mode with 'practice your PvE rotation on crystal dummies' with a horridly designed map and bullshit RNG. Overall it's just not fun.

The Lore cap is fine. The way in which Lore (and by 'Lore' I mean 'whichever tomestone has a weekly cap at the time') is used needs to be overhauled.
The amount of time it takes to gear up one class is appropriate, and it would be a mistake to make it any faster than it already is.
But the amount of time that it takes to gear your second (or third, or xth) job takes a ridiculous amount of time, and needs to be shortened considerably - it was bad in 2.0, it got worse in 2.4, worse still in 3.0, and it'll hit a breaking point if 4.0 comes out and introduces even more new classes (particularly if they use the shit Myth/Esoteric model of job-based rather than role-based gear).
Lore should be used to buy something similar to the Animus books from the ARR relics, where you get a book full of a bunch of different tasks to complete. Except there should be one book for every gear slot, and once you've completed one, it unlocks the ability to buy different pieces of gear for each class, using Esoterics (or whatever the uncapped tomestone of the day is).

I think the DoTS are fine (classic SMN had them!).. but Egi's completely fucking ruined it. Egi's aren't exciting or showy as traditional summons nor do I really get the feel that Ifrit/Garuda/Titan are really there fighting with me on the battlefield when they're out.
What's worse is there's really not much micro needed for Egi's either. SMN - a class that was to be a high skillcap DPS is actually one of the lowest.

Not really. Most people just didn't know how to play BLM when it came out, and ended up doing so much unnecessary movement that the average BLM did worse than the average SMN. The gathering component of Diadem isn't done as a group at all except that you need more than one person to go there.

there's actually gear that bolsters your mana regen (+refresh) and gear that reduces your perpetuation cost for avatars. it's not difficult to get your perpetuation cost down to 0 now.
avatars in XI are considerably more powerful than in XIV, but the summoner theirself has no innate spells other than the summons. they can summon elementals that have some spells they cast on their own that vary based on element (light elementals can cast healing spells, for instance), and summon avatars that they can command.
the avatars have a base cooldown of a minute between abilities, but it can be reduced via gear down to i believe 30 seconds. the abilities are very expensive in terms of mana cost but also do a considerable amount of damage, with summoners being able to do display cap (99,999+) damage with some abilities with proper buffs/debuffs. there are job abilities that interact with your summons as well, such as one that removes the cooldown for one avatar ability but increases the mana cost of the next ability you use.

Why would you ever want *more* micromanagement with the pets? It's bad enough that their skills have a painful delay. It's the same shit as using your own spells anyway, but slower.
They do need to buff the summons a bit however. Buff up Enkindle's pathetic potency, give Garuda better skills than stupid Shockwave and Contagion becomes a SMN skill and replaces it with something better and fitting for Garuda. I'd rather want to let it be on Sic. I suppose the summons need a bit more skills to play with.

Yeah I guess not so much micromanagement as more skills or more interesting skills. I dunno it's hard to articulate it, it's 3:00 AM and I should be asleep right now. I like your ideas though, especially contagion getting moved to smn and replaced by a different skill on garuda. That would not only give garuda a more fitting skill but could also free up the possibility of using a summon other than her.
