Only better tools. You can also make accessories for your character that restore stamina over time.

It's been a while since I played, but I think better tools get the job done quicker.

Since you're playing as a boy the girls will have a flower next to their name when you speak to them. Color of flower is the friendship level.

So I just started Story of Seasons after getting stuck in Rune Factory 4 is there any way to move romantic events up? I tried being pure to my first waifu and I just beat chapter 2, but I've still only had 2 events. and I was wondering just how do I get off to a good start? I'm totally lost here; I've got turnips growing, and the only gifts I can give are milk, bugs, and fish because I can catch them without any effort.

A Wonderful Life needs that GBA Harvest Moon to be fully experienced, otherwise you're missing about 10% of the game. And there's just so much fucking walking. SO MUCH WALKING.

Events in RF4 are all RNG. Either you get lucky or reset until you get the event you want.

Some general tips for SoS:
-Go river diving for materials. Sell the gems you get for easy money and keep the bricks

-Seed maker is the most useful tool in the game and it requires 5 turnip seeds to build. The general store will stop selling the seeds once summer hits, so make sure to save them or you'll be fucked until next year.

-The festivals are almost unwinnable early in the game and RNG once you get far into the game. Things like the fashion contest are just bullshit.

-Honeybees are used on the special bee hive plot that you can use later. Place bees in the hive and they'll give you honey. Once winter hits the bees will all leave and you start all over in the spring.

-Be really nice to Eda. There's a potato dish she really enjoys, but I forget the name.

The hives (and the mushroom logs) are up for rent starting in fall. You can cultivate honey and mushrooms (duh) there. You have to fight for it to get it, though. Elise or Giorgio have it first (can't remember who exactly.)

The game starts really slow. Things start unlocking after one another as you go along. Before you know it, you're swamped with things to do.

Just take your time with it.

The general store becomes somewhat irrelevant once you get the other traders to come to town. Early on it's real slow and you have to actually pay attention to the days that you can sell your crops, but eventually that doesn't matter since there will be at least 2 traders in town every day.

He offers part time jobs. Basically quick minigames for pocket change. Some of them will boot you out of the menu and start the minigame. The ones that don't are either item shipping requests or someone wants you to deliver a present to someone.

Minigames and the delivery jobs are the easiest to do.
If you take someone's delivery request they'll have a star icon over their head. After they hand over the gift the recipient will also get the star over their head, so you know to talk to them.
You'll get paid for deliveries on the next day.

No one knows if it's something that can't be gained later since all of the other bonuses can be gained eventually.

For all we know it just gives you a heart bonus early and you won't get a heart reward at a later time.
If it really was a bonus that you can't get any other way then it'd be the best choice, but I can't see the choices be so imbalanced.

We're not too far deep in the game yet. It's possible that it can be acquired later, through a quest or an item.

That 50k cash is a nice headstart. You can buy the essentials with that. Not to say that an extra heart is not good, but stamina management is so piss easy that I won't need an extra heart.

How diving works in SoS exactly? Is there a fixed number of things I can find in a given day or does it change?

Should be 6 for each area. Each river area is split into two areas, usually a left and right, so you get 3 items from each side.

The river in front of the town has the bridge as a separator. Just swim up to the bridge and you'll get a prompt to swim to the other side.
The river by the farm works the same way, but there's no bridge that splits the sides.

The first screen immediately after leaving your farm is an intersection with paths that lead to the three villages. Takes no time at all.

Weird. It's kind of a prototype for a lot of stuff that became mainstays of the current iterations of the game (active attacking instead of bumper-car combat, jumping for combat and navigating terrain, boss rush modes, charge-based magic systems with more depth than "get magic sword/item, suddenly use magic") but it also screwed the pooch a bit by including an undefeatable block (going both ways, so you and some skeleton dude could go on and on trading non-hits until you finally maneuvered properly to attack him) and its BGM was a major departure from the usual style the series had up until that point (not to say that it was bad, it certainly stands on its own quite a bit and is pretty goddamn impressive for the SNES). All in all it's not a bad game per se but it's certainly not one that springs to mind at the top of the list when you think of Ys games.

Interestingly, Ys V's art was handled by Minako Iwasaki (as were several other Falcom titles, including those from Brandish, Xanadu and the Legend of Heroes series') who later hopped over to Marvelous to do art for the Rune Factory games.

I've only played Trails in the Sky FC, I really enjoyed it and really liked Estelle as a main character. Looking at Cold Steel, it seems like it could be kind of harem-y, would that be an accurate assessment? Not necessarily a turnoff, but I don't enjoy that stuff as much.
