This brings up another point that Tripwire didn't try and pretend their game could be called "finished" at release. Unlike Overkill. Overkill would've charged for Sharpshooter. They would've charged for Gunslinger too. Knowing Overkill, they'd probably cut the DLCs in half.

It's kind of comforting knowing no matter how bad a developer does something, Overkill would've done it worse.

Found the best setup for this patch: sentries, frenzerker, ictv, maniac, with ak.762 with dmr kit and quad stacked mag. You can deploy sentries with 1-2 bullets out of your primary and 6 sentries keep maniac constantly stacked. Frenzerker+ictv gives you 500+ effective armor and with full maniac stacks you take zero damage from most enemies.

Tripware already had a decent playerbase and most of them got burned from waiting months for updates, then in one of them you bring the most cancerous thing in any game, micros.

It doesnt really matter who is worse, is which one of those 2 actually knew even if they got fucked it wouldnt hurt that much, and that one isnt tripware. As much I would like to play killing floor 2, is just one of my ghost games in my backlog. Also overkill did most of the time 75% sale and shit also free weekends or weeks. Alright guys. I've always been interested in this game since The Heist, but it was an unoptimized mess. I've been playing it as a f2p SOLO trying to git gud before I ruin someone's elses day.

So far so good, game runs nicely and it's pretty fun even with bots at normal / hard difficulty. I've been playing akimbo with dodge just for shits and laughs.

I only have ONE friend to play this shit with me. What I want from you, is to redpill me on Payday 2. Give me your most honest criticism about the game.

My biggest criticism is that PD2 seems to attract shitters who can't make up their own mind about the game and have to get an opinion from random strangers on a Chinese cartoon board in order to form their own.

Also: just jump in to the pubshitter arena. Just the fact you're willing to play a heist solo and learn it before you go out in public puts you FAR ahead of half the pubshitters out there

Seriously though: I've put almost 1000 hours into the game, if that gives you any indication of how good it is. I wouldn't have done that if it was pure torture or the grind felt especially grinding. Cops no longer produce sound when you kill them by default instead of needing a skill, silencers can boost concealment allowing you to bring more powerful guns, skills allow you to bring both ECMs and bodybags, and both are available for free as defaults. The original game had I think 8 missions total? Something around that. Pretty much every single one was top-tier compared to anything in PD2. Even the beginner heist (FWB) held up after you had played for a long while. Difficulty progression was actually good. You didn't have 100 different guns that all fit into 5 categories with varying performance, you had like 15 or so guns and every one filled a niche of some sort. You weren't all running around wity different bullshit superpowers. You had your guns, your deployables, and that was about it aside from a couple passive bonuses.

The heists were grander and more well constructed than anything in PD2. The "classics" in payday 2 don't do them justice.

Overall it was simpler but much more well focused. Everything felt like it had a point and thought was put into its design. PD2 is some strange scatterbrained ADHD fever dream in comparison.

If you haven't played it, try to scare up some people and play through every mission at least once. It was free to install and keep forever for a bit so most people probably have it even if they never played it.

Now this is where judging the merits of either game is strictly a matter of personal taste. People who didn't want to fuck with PD2s convoluted rules and RPG stats in favor of just jumping in to an action shooter that was essentially a horde mode with objectives will declare PD1 to be the superior game.

But the fact of the matter is that PD2 has had a lot more staying power because the complex rules of building character stats and guns gave players a reason to keep playing. And it's what sells the mountain of DLC they've produced over the years.

I've played several contracts. So far, I've got the most fun out of First World Bank. Also played Jewelry, Diamonds, Mallcrashers, Four stores, Nightclub and the one where you steal art from a museum and then you fuck up some politician's house.

They all felt kind of bland in comparison, specially Nightclub. The one with the politician was hard as fuck and I could not finish the third day because it was all clutered with guards.

I guess it says a lot of one game if a mission of a predecesor feels better designed in comparison with his contemporanean peers.

It has more than enough guns, the problem is that most of them are worthless. This was less of a problem before the rebalance. Take revolvers for example: It used to be bronco for optics, mateba if you like hipfire (only one that takes lasers) and peacemaker for raw damage but limited modpool. Now they all do the same damage and the stat boosts are a thing, so the bronco can have all its best mods (aggressor barrel, etc) while still reaching 30 conc. The other two just cant compete since the mateba has shit hipfire (good hipfire was honestly its only ever selling point) and I don't think it even has access to the +3 conc boost, while the peacemaker is just straight garbage.
The quantity of guns is fine, its the low quality that makes it seem like there are less.

Stealth was way better IMO. It was only one heist, but it was way less arbitrary. No varying detection levels, if you're seen you're seen. Also people dressed appropriately, so on stealth heists they wore black and on counterfeit they dressed like pool repairmen. Also, this is subjective, but the game felt more "professional". I don't mean the tone, though that would be true as well, but the game felt like a cohesive quality AAA release, whereas much of the recent PD2 DLC feel like 3 party mods and don't really fit. Like if PD1 was L4D2, and PD2 was L4D2 with a bunch of custom workshop content like mass effect player models and CoD weapons replacers, if you get my drift.

IIRC the reason to wait until your completely empty is because the ammo bag doesn't track partial amounts of refills so the last guy who'd use the bag (so the ammo bag would have one line of mags left) would get ticked the fuck off because they'd get anywhere from quite a few rounds off a max refill to a piddly 2 or 3 bullets for their gun.

It really doesnt help that in PD:TH you didn't have ANY indicator of refills left, so crews just told each other when they used the bag and they kept track of how many refills the bag had left in it.

It's percentage based as far as I know. A basic ammo bag will refill 200% ammo, doublestuffed have 400%. So if you've fired off half your primary and half your secondary a basic bag will have 150% left after you refill. Also for a high pickup gun you're better off switching to secondary, throwables, or melee for a bit to get a small ammount of "seed" bullets from pickups then switch back to it and keep getting ammo boxes with it and build back up to full.

Skim boxes from enemies your team kills if you know your gun is more ammo effecient. I do this with the m308 but bring double ammo bags for the teammates with less self sustaining weapons.
