Why do people want an official modding API so much when "officializations" of literally everything Mojang has given us so far - pistons, horses, dual-wielding, etc. - has been a half-assed and/or incomplete ripoff?

Are there any simple mods that make eating food worth it? There was the hunger overhaul mod, but that just added a bunch of dumb shit that just made stuff annoying. I have pams harvest craft in but I feel like there would be no reason to cook all that complicated shit If it doesn't do anything besides restore regular hunger.

you can config hunger overhaul however you want, it's pretty customizable
you could try spice of life with pam's harvestcraft, it makes it so food gives you (configurable) diminishing returns the more you eat it, making it so you have to eat multiple different kinds of food. pairs particularly well with pam's and cooking for blockheads

I've seen spice of life, but I felt like it was too illogical and would be more of an annoyance. A buff or reward of some kind would be really nice.
I tried disabling most everything besides the Well Fed buff from hunger overhaul but even after I disabled everything my hunger was still doing some weird fuckery that I couldn't understand so I just removed it.

yeah honestly I really hate spice of life because of that, I think it's retarded and only makes hunger even more of an annoyance instead of something cool to play with, but it's all you can get. don't really know of any mods that do cool things with food. it is good to remember, though, that cooking for blockheads adds lunchboxes you can fill with different foods and it'll automatically pick the best one for you
