How does Bodyslide armor work? I see a ton of this stuff saying it's compatible but when I load it up they just stick to some default form and don't adhere to my custom shape. I even followed on of their instructions and built another body but got lost halfway through. The impression I got was once you build a body post installing the bodyslide armor files, the armor files all update and work for it, but is that really the case?

Well, Ak'chazar is already a good fit for Spooky Suave Skeletons.
Mead Maniacs/Beer Septims are tag team champs as it stands, and breaking up Ermalda and Meara would be a crime.
Not sure about Kathniel and Punchy, I think given the way things are now Ruru and Punchy would work better.
Aylen and Auris sounds pretty good, actually. Team Fabulous or something.

No, thst's not how it works. Armor meshes are complicated. They take the Body slot, which means that the armor itself (if you were to open the mesh with nifskope) not only has the armor mesh, but the TORSO MESH.

If you install a CBBE body, and put on UNP armor, your body mesh turns into a UNP body mesh.

Now, what body slide does is it allows you to edit what type of body you want to have, but this is just the naked body.

Downloading bodyslide compatible armors essentially gives Bodyslide the ability to make not only the base female mesh to your preferred shape, but you can build the compatible armors to the shape, too. You should use the Batch Build for this- make one preset, then build ALL your armors and such for it at once.

Sky City adds more buildings up into the mountains of Markarth that you can access via dwemer lifts. Some are empty cause the mod author is always like that. He did a Windhelm mod but I didn't find it decent, you might. Don't use his Solitude mod though, use Solitude Reborn, its 10x better.

Outfit studio is not needed at all, Outfit studio is for making armor meshes work for bodyslide.

First step- make sure your Caliente folder lines up with the one in Bodyslide.

Second step- run bodyslide (through MO if tgat's your beef)

Third step- make a juicy preset. This will be applied to ALL meshes you build.

Forth Step- hit batch build. Select everything you want to edit. Only pick one body, if you use an HDT body make sure you have the skeleton and HDT physics stuff for it.

This should either output new armor meshes or edit current meshes for the armor. Vanilla .bsa stuff won't be edited so don't worry about that

Alright, so I'm trying to start a new run through as a mage, and I have a couple of questions because I'm still really new to modding (running everything through mod-organizer).

I'm looking to use the Immersive College of Winterhold mod to make that place a bit more lively and interesting, and I was debating using the improved npc mod for winterhold as well, if only to make them look a bit more interesting, unique, and be essential by default.

In installing ICW, though, I don't understand it's instructions for adding an ini file to SKSE. I'm not sure what that does, really, but I was getting some instability on my test play.

Also, a lot of the instability I seemed to be getting was connected to Devious Devices, which surprised me. I'd had a game running with those already without issue. The only change was that I removed captured dreams for this playthrough, but I'm not sure why that would be making things act up. I ran FNIS again just to be sure, but I'm getting a lot of glitches and crashes surrounding the items in question.

Any wisdom on either of these points?

basically it goes like this: some mods have no scripting (say you changed your body type from unp to unpb), or you simply replaced some textures... This is perfectly safe and requires no caution on behalf of the modder.

Some mods use scripts though, this is a touchy area. By removing that mod you could break the game, you could attempt cleaning your save file, but this is far from a garrantee as the script may become 'baked' into the save file and cannot be removed. So you can try to remove it, but be prepared that your game will start to act weird in the future, perhaps not for another 10-20 levels or more even...

If the script is baked into your game, this still doesn't necessarily mean that it will crash your game, but it is very likely it was cause something to go awry. This is when a fresh start from the beginning is required, start a new and fresh game.

Your best bet - While still altering your mod list, presume that the game will break, test it out and see if you notice bugs, don't get attached, just play and have fun. Once your mod list is 'set in stone' so to speak, and you have play 2-3 playthrus with it (and not to level 30, like at least 60-80 each time) without a hickup, then you're game is likely stable.

This is where it gets me. I do pick only one body, the HDT one but when I go back in game the bodyslide compatible armors don't match up. They still look default.

It gives a sample file in the mod downloads. I'm honestly not sure what to do with it, and I've been warned away from messing with the .ini files before.

Anyway, with custom armors like that you can retexture them easily and they cone out looking hella good. You just need to open the mod, see what assorted textures it references (looks like Forsworn, Thieves Guild, and Stormcloak Officer at least) and overwrite them by hand with good ones
