There are graphical overhauls called ENBs that make the game prettier. Resonant and Ruby are probably the two most popular.

A few mods that tone down the bloom effects of certain light sources, a cosmetic change to armor here or there. Other than that, there isn't a great deal I can think of off the top of my head. Search through the Dragon's Dogma nexus if you want to investigate on your own.

It's a singleplayer game, it doesn't matter how many people are playing it, you'll get the same experience. Even if players aren't active their pawns stay in the rift for you to hire them, so it's still worth getting. Only problem you might have is a lack of players hiring your own pawn, but you can just shill yours to /ddg/ and get rents here.

Yeah that's me, I actually tried to upload one of them with that comment but the image limit was reached.

It is a shame that they couldn't give each npc unique end game dialogue for being a beloved but I'm honestly surprised that such minor npc's, like the owner of an alehouse that isn't even involved in any actual quests, were given so much dialogue in the first place. It really helps the Gransys seem like part of an actual world inhabited by actual people. I think it's this attention to detail and setting that makes DD one of my all time favorite games.

No, not really. Mages/Sorcerors are sort of a pain in the dick to play.
Fighter/Warrior can't do aerial combat or kill magical enemies (ghosts/living armor). Warrior has better damage while in the air, through virtue of his basic attacks, but the limited air time reduces the viability somewhat.
Strider destroys every fucking thing under the sun except the aforementioned magical enemies.
Ranger is excellent for hunting down the Reaper/Death, and fares well against any airborne enemies.
Magick Archer is undoubtedly the most well-rounded class. It can dish out physical and magical punishment very well, and at any range.
Magick Knight is the king at staying alive while simultaneously maintaining some decent area control. It also has some ranged capability, and a really good movement skill.

Now will anyone help me convert this motherfucking save file?

I played this game and had a lot of fun climbing on giant monsters and fucking their faces. Really felt like an epic adventure, travelling from place to place and killing things so amazingly.

But the walking got old quick. Real quick. And having only one real town made me sad.

I was here back when there were only console versions of Dark Arisen and I came back when it was announced for PC.
Back then plenty of people agreed that this game would benefit immensely from getting a PC version. Once the PC version was released, some PS3/360 players moved on to the PC version.
I doubt there are many posters in here who ONLY own a gaming PC.
I also very rarely see /v/ style console war/platform war bullshit so I honestly don't know what you are on about.

There was more activity back in the console only days but this has always been, and still remains one of the best generals in /vg/

I just bought the game on a sale after not playing it for years and forgot how to min-max.
My last playthrough was a MK, but I want to do it as a full fighter instead. Like a full fighter vocation only by lvl 100.

I honestly don't know if it's truly min-maxing, but I think no one wants an extremely frail healer pawn, even if they have Legion's Might. Scather isn't as bad as anon >>146458949 says. Scather will promp them to charge attacks to the biggest target. If they charge attacks towards a weak target and it dies before it's over, they will cancel the spell instead of switching targets, so it's a waste of time. If you do not use long charge attacks then any combat inclination should do.

Scather is good, but it also urges them to stay 4-5m ahead of you. This means that when you're a Sorc who wants to charge spells at the optimal distance, they engage the enemy before you finish casting.

In general I believe min-maxing is not necessary, but if you find those vocations fun then yeah, stat growth should be pretty favorable for a Fighter.

Start out with Fighter until you get Vehemence, Strider for Dexterity, Warrior until Clout, then purely Assassin. Switch to other physical Vocations whenever you get bored.

what i did was level strider to 10, ranger to 40, sorcerer til 115-120ish before making the switch to magick archer. augments and gear will do more for you than a super optimized build. that said, i recommend pure physical daggers to deal with golems - magick bow will not let you down against anything else.

Good point, I only have a couple of vocations and better speedrun times left really. Plus this way I can level up more intelligently, I fell for the "how you level up doesn't matter because your stats come almost entirely from gear" meme and now have like 15-20% less strength for strength-based weapons than I would have with a more balanced build.

Hard Mode is shit. Enemies deal crazy damage and being oneshoted will be pretty common, but eventually, you'll be overleveled because HM doubles the exp you get, and nothing will be a challenge.
It's also awful in BBI (expansion content) if you're warrior.

Hard is basically impossible early on unless you play a dagger class and can dodge well. If you get hit you're donezo and blocking doesn't really work either because if you get hit once your stamina's gone then you will probably get hit again and die.

For new game+ hard is probably the only way to have any kind of moderate challenge outside of BBI since the world doesn't level up in ng+.

Scather is a good primary inclination, Mitigator or Utilitarian as your secondary. Clout, Eminence and Vehemence Augments are a must.

Fighter should definitely have Dragon's Maw; Full Moon Slash and Hindsight Sweep are good too. As for shield skills, avoid Shield Summons.

For Warrior, stay away from Arcs, Lash and Lunge.
