Again, the problem isn't what I'm against, it's my sister, who's not even level 30 yet. She started less than two months ago,and has only faced off against about half of the champion roster. Unfortunately, the best way for her to learn is play solo. I wish I could play with her, but apparently, having one win in ranked means I'm pulling people who have been playing a lot longer than she has.

you are right in identifying that lux and xerath have similar play patterns but there are a few subtle differences, lux's lane is sligthly stronger since she has targeted damage with her passive and she can 1 shot carries mid/late game with QER whereas xerath has to land E and several other skillshots to maek a pick at a slightly longer range while being more stationary in the process

imo xerath is more fun and has a higher skill cap but typically low skill floor champions triumph

I've only played Morde top. You build him full AP if ahead, AP into tank if behind (but because Morde has no mobility, CC, utility, or really any outplay potential Morde being behind is usually a lost game with little chance to bounce back.)

Mordekaiser is basically just a huge ball of stats that tricks enemies into overcommiting to a fight and dying because a lot of his damage is backloaded and his tankiness is almost invisible in lane. He's nothing but damage and tankiness proportionate to damage dealt. When he's ahead he kills everything and takes little punishment in return, when he's behind he does no damage and because he has no damage he can't take any damage either.

He's a feast or famine champion like Katarina who appreciates a little team support to avoid getting kited to shit, but unlike other feast or famine champs he's strong early and has the tools to get fed in lane himself. Also easy as fuck to CS with.

Started playing ranked after a year of normals and watching streams. My record so far is 19 wins and 7 losses, got to S1 pretty easily within a week.

I got to gold promos though, and I won 2 then lost 3 in a row. 1 game had an afk and the other 2 had EVERYONE go 0/5 or worse by 15 min even though I had 10+ kills in both games. DotA has many variations of abilities and combinations of said abilities that can work in tangent or are augmented with the use of items.
