Go look at the bonuses the Legendary weapon and SS give SF. It basically doubles their dps and then some.
Right now they will be average, with Legendary, whenever the SS comes out/SFs get their weapons, they are the best. That's fact.

Just do it. You'll learn. The difficulty of tanking comes from having to stay alive through more mechanics than ranged, and through more attacks than the melees not tanking. At first it'll be hard but that's just because you're new to the game in general. Each new dungeon you go to will be less challenging than the previous one because you're a better player than you were before.

This game has 4-man and 6-man dungeons, out of which 4-mans are the endgame ones with cosmetic drops and the better loot in general. Difference is that 6-mans show ground indicators for enemy attacks; yellowish for blockable and red for unblockable. In 4-mans you go by animations alone. As such, you can just practice tanking in the 6-mans.

I played a tiny bit of TERA towards the end of last year just before the closed beta period of this game. I felt like DPSing and watching out for myself was more than enough in the dungeons and I had some slight feelings of anxiety about joining new dungeons even as a DPS class. I tried a lancer alt and the tanking was even worse despite it being content I had already done before.

Regardless of my unwillingness to tank in that game, I made a BM for the beta and liked it. I had no idea how to tank and I didn't realize until after release that I'd be expected to do so in 4-mans. At first it was rather intimidating for the exact same reasons as in TERA: I didn't even know the general mechanics of the dungeons or the boss animations associated with them, let alone the attacks I was supposed to block or dodge as a tank.

A friend of mine carried me through my first 4-mans and I got past my anxiety a little bit. After that, I got confident enough to run with /bnsg/ and kept learning. Now I can tank any new 4-man dungeon without any issues despite not knowing the attacks beforehand and never going to the 6-man. It has become very intuitive.
