Since everybody thinks the plot of Fates is shit, how about we spitball more ideas and actually bring them together to create a plot that isn't retarded? It doesn't need to be amazing, just better than Awakening (might be a good starting point?)
Common ideas are:

You now have enough time to grow closer to and get attached to both the Hoshidans and the Nohrians in the beginning. Make it so that both nations have just reasons for war and that siding with either one isn't necessarily good or evil. Sumeragi and Garon are still alive and are tough but stern rulers of their nations. Arete's still alive and same with Mikoto, serving their kings. And finally, give more choice. Get the choice to side with Iago and Hans and burn Hoshido to the ground, and then fight possessed Takumi whose hatred is now burning more intensely since you've been murdering his family and his people. Get the choice to side with... I don't know, insert extremist Hoshidans (Kumagera or whatever) to wipe out all the Nohrians, then fight slime Garon who prays to Anankos to give him strength or whatever. And should you side against those extremists, you enter a full on royal family showdown for Endgame where you fight the entire royal family (king, queen, princes and princesses and their retainers).

I'd be fine with Valla because we still need some reason for the two nations to band together against a common enemy. It just needs to be far less retarded.

Fair enough. I do want a path wherein you get all the characters, but like you said without Revelations it'd really emphasize the importance of choosing a side (just like the advertising and marketing too).

Perhaps you could have Corrin say "fuck both sides" and build his own army and start off with the neutrals (like Mozu, Nyx, and the Tribesmen since I'm pretty sure they're mostly loyal to their tribes first, then to the nations their tribes are a part of). Then have Corrin fight them both and conquer both somehow? That's what you're saying right? I like the idea, actually. I'm just wondering how the end of it would look. Because once Corrin has enough people and you start going after one nation, like let's say you go after Hoshido, the Nohrians will be like "so you finally chose a side and you're with us, the Nohrians". So it'd have to be clear that you're only conquering one nation to get them to back down, then conquer the other nation. And it'd be hard to imagine that you wouldn't see, say, the Nohrians in Hoshido trying to conquer it as well.

Unless you could make it the length of one campaign and you simply choose which side you want to fight (and you'd also get the appropriate difficulty and map design so if you fight Hoshido, it's like you're playing Conquest) and by the end, the other side's like "well damn, you conquered them before we could, we surrender to you". Meaning it'd basically be Birthright/Conquest but you're basically on your own. Maybe I'm thinking too much about this? But there is definitely potential and I'm curious to see how it'd work.

He's legitimately one of the best, if not the best, non-royal Hoshidan unit you can promote. Oboro is another monster, and so is Subaki. Kagerou despite being universally disliked for some reason is stupidly strong and can deal by herself with a lot of enemies who other character struggle with even before promotion, thanks to the dumb damage she deals.
Rinkah is weak as shit without stat boosters, but if you fix her stats and promote to Blacksmith she becomes the best Hoshido tank and able to murder everything with the low hit clubs.
Also, knights and cavaliers are completely trivialized by her once she gets Lancebreaker.

I love these guys. Some of them take some commitment early on, but I prefer it to just bruteforcing through Birthright's early and then simply spam Ryoma.

If Corrin had a twin in the game you could split up the army and flank the nations while they're preoccupied with each other. Both are tired and wounded from invasions and then you sneak in and fuck them in the ass.

I think that's the biggest issue: somehow being able to take on both armies without it seeming like a rehash of one of the paths. I was thinking that depending on which nation to take on first you'd end up getting different units at different times, like Kotaro if you choose to go for Hoshido and Shura if you go for Nohr.

I wish villains didn't look so ridiculous most of the time. It's a trend that has always been in FE, but since Path of Radiance they really started to get dumb with the looks of some bosses.

Her Strength and Speed are very consistent so defense seems to be the key in balancing her if she's gonna be a Hero.
I can see that Camilla, Effie and Aptitude Mozu are clearly her best mothers, with Beruka and Selena being her only bad mothers. Selena not so much if you don't mind her lacking strength weak.
