We still have no idea what this hybrid system will be. XV got a wait mode due to "people not used to action games", which is basically a semi-excuse for weaning people into more action oriented gameplay. I expect the remake to have some similiar.

And materia was broken at a certain point, it's not like they'll get rid of it entirely, but a revision wouldn't be bad. Just like if they remade VIII, the magic synthesis reviews they get from XV will likely be used so you can't break the game in the first hour or so through the GF system.

Considering XV has "Magic Synthesis", which given the example of "You can make your Fire Spell also heal!" sounds like Fire Materia + HP Absorb materia in connected Materia slots, I see no reason it wouldn't be back.

Of course that's if that even what they mean and not just that the same spell hurts enemies and heals allies depending on target, which is really just cutting down on menu inputs.

Yeah, both of those were using power instead of attack to calculate their damage. However to help them function differently from normal buffs, they've been changed to 12 MP and 25% current HP cost.

If you're the same guy who asked yesterday, the new patch also changes power based skills like rasp and prayer in melee-centric jobs back to attack, since it's clearly far too niche.
Also power sash was apparently ridiculously strong, and dirty fighting ignores reaction abilities now, which was suggested as a way to deal with dying dragonheart dragons and general utility.

The spells in XV were made specifically to give more utility on the consequence of fewer spells. Lightning no doubt will chain and paralyze, blizzard and fire do damage over time, blizzard slows enemies and can use the environment to hold them in place by freezing the water the spot hits for a small length of time, and fire spreads out and encircles, which can help.

So if they add more elements to it, you effectively can gain all the buff spells without needing to incorporate them all in there. Materia was also a way to cut down on menu inputs with the ALL and COMMAND types. It was the synergy meta of some combinations that broke it in FF7 (Final Attack + Phoenix, using Hades in ways that effectively made a free Ribbon, and so on), that is what they should revise. Mime has got to go, for example imho.

You and the gang look more frostbitten the closer you are to the epicenter of a blizzard with them stumbling as it wears off. While I understand the reasoning to have Ayame & Currila as representatives for Bastok & San d'Oria, there are more interesting choices (Naji still gets no respect as seen in this old pic). Still, nice to see a Female Samurai and another Female Knight.

I hope that we get some confirmation soon on some of these Crossover events that are coming. I worry that we won't get Ayame & Currila, in the same respects for the Mobius characters.

I'm pretty sure there was an interview somewhere in which Normura said outright the only reason for the big hair in FFVII was because of the polygon limit. She's almost certainly have a more normal size look than the original game.

If you really want an idea of what Tifa's model will be like in the remake, look to more recent versions of her, Advent Children, Dissidia, etc.

The way that it was explained in the game (to my recollection) is that you basically just need to get to a point with the real person where you form a strong bond with them to enable the summoning of their trust.

Once you have achieved that bond and learned the trust magic, they are yours to summon over and over again at your leisure, and they will always be a carbon copy of that person at that point in time the bond was established.

Further versions of the same person are enabled as additional trust summons (Shantotto I, Shantotto II, etc.) so even if something about the person's prime form changes in some way, the original trust you learned would remain true to when you learned it.

Presumably this always means that if your male character forms a strong platonic bond with a female character and learns her trust, she would friendzone your character. If you later got closer to the prime character and moved further than friends and learned a II version of her trust, that trust would be romantically interested in your character.

To answer your question though, trusts are capable of fighting, spellcasting, and doing anything else the actual trust character would be able to do, so most likely.

Meh. Lightning's SSB kind of sucks these days and I'd rather run Exdeath for runic shenanigans over Celes anyways, plus SSII means that Y'sholta is the only white mage I will ever use on my A-team ever. Out of those it really would just be PCecil's BSB or bust. Yunalesca is going to die in a fucking fire tomorrow thanks to Grand Cross and I will laugh the whole way through while spamming Memento Mori+Ebon Plate boosted Dark Zones, vomiting +150%ATK boosted Saint Crosses from Leon, and generally shredding her into tiny pieces with my A-team. Have fun trying to use those instant-cast Holy spells now!

I should probably do the last two stages in the Sabin/Edgar thing huh.

Lightning's SSB does not suck. It hits a good boostable element and has high damage. It's a simple pure damage SSB, though it does lack a nice buff that some others have.

Ultimate level, Bahamut SIN is back but without the retarded Shadow Creeper condition and now with a Water weakness when charging the sphere.. Yunalesca is a lot more respectably difficult than back in Rikku's event. Gilgamesh in the last stretch has a move that lets him trigger a counter on all your attacks. Other than that, it's not an issue if you're able to beat Ultimates most of the time.
