Damage done is a better indicator of offensive performance.

Eliminations and Objective Eliminations just means the player has been able to engage the enemy and not get killed as much.

In my experience when I have gold or silver in damage done and we don't have a healer, and I switch to a healer, nothing comes of it and we still lose anyway.

But I think healers are just a crutch for poor technical players. As a Pharah main I'm usually in the deep backline taking out reinforcements one by one. If my team can't 5v3, then it's purely a skill issue.

A healer is just a redistribution of offensive power. If 5 players are getting healed their offensive power is increased to 1.2 players each. So 5 players are effectively doing the work of 6. There is no reason why a pure offense team with no healing or tanking can't take them out, because their offensive score is equal.
