So peopel keep talking about X's Demon King End, but i just realized that the actual excecution of it would be quite tricky

In KR, Sill's Death was what made Rance cave in to Satella in the first place. But Sill alone probably won't cut it anymore. At the very least Reset needs to die as well and arguably Shizuka and Kanami

So, we have two options:

True Demon King which would require the above mentioned Girls to all die

or

Watered Down Demon King in which Rance just does it because and makes all his Favorite Girls Dark Lords

I personally think Option Number 2 defeats the purpose of the Route but i can't see modern Alicesoft choosing the former

Speaking from a gameplay perspective, It's pretty great for a point run since you can clear it potentially in a few turns, her country is easy to conquer and arguably the best character in the game, Natori, is on the way to Useugi and Ai, who are also fantastic units. Even if you don't know what you're doing, it's still easy to clear.

Storywise she's just a genuinely nice girl, and her story lets her personality really shine. The story-line also has probably the most humor to it of the other routes, like Kenshin becoming the emperor and telling Oda to stop being possessed and it actually works. All the other routes have a lot more bitterness to them, but Kenshin's is very light-hearted. I don't even think Kou gets raped in her path.

That's just trying to be objective though.

As someone who played eroge for quite some time already I did hear and had an interest in the series and Alicesoft, but wanted to play in order so was waiting for the translation to come by. Got really hyped with Daiteikoku to the point of deciding to go through the extra effort of playing it in Japanese as it was released, and loved it. So a bit later played translated 1 and 2. First one was poor but 02 was a bit more interesting, especially with the new graphics. But didn't want to play the ones that were too old in Japanese so waited. About two years later as IV was being released in English I played III, which was the one that really got me into the series. Then IV right away, 01 that was released a bit before, and give up on waiting for 5D to be translated so played it and up to Quest in Japanese.

I'm not a huge Rance fan and had only beaten SR before (and only one time), but I decided to download 02 and give that a shot anyway. I'm pretty surprised by how easy it is to read, are the later Rance games written at a level like this too? I have tried to read a few other VN's and quickly got frustrated at how many kanji I was having to look up.

That said I can't get a text hooking working properly with it so it is slow when I dont recognize a kanji

Heard about KR while talking to my uncle in the early 2000's (He translated Rance's speech to Leazus) but I didn't know Japanese so I sadly gave up on reading it. Didn't really hear anything else about the series but heard about Alicesoft's decline in the mid 2000's.

Eventually played SR when it was translated but while the characters were great, I wasn't that interested in the gameplay but I kept my eye on the releases and Alicesoft in general. By the time Magnum had come out I was in the middle of learning Japanese after a failed translation project enraged me enough to force myself to learn the language to be able to read it and I gave it a short try, Gameplay turned me off almost instantly and I stopped there. I replayed SR to completion some time in 2012 (100% report) and once again in 2013 after losing my save.

When I heard about the OVA being released in late 2014 on a hentaifu thread on /a/, I thought it was finally about time to play the series and marathoned it while posting my comments here. Lia's rape scene won me over and I've loved the series since, well except Quest's gameplay I still hate that
