I actually think that most BBI gear is fairly ugly. The witches hat, the heraldic gambeson, the MK mace, Bitter End (the recolored Lancers Sword?) and the Trophy set are the only decent items.

I'm sure that there are a few more items I like but by and large I'm not a fan of most of it. The stuff that I think looks good though looks pretty great.

The helmet is arguably the ugliest max tier helmet in any game i've ever played. To the point that I've never used it unironically. The torso armor is way too bulky and makes any character look like they're wearing armor more than a few sizes too large. The leg armor is similar in that they instantly turn even the most petite of pawns into a pear. And pear pawns into walking cranberries. I don't mind the arm armor, it can stay.

It really is just personal opinion but in my case I enjoy the more realistic and grounded items and gear. I mean I don't mind over the top FF style stuff if it fits in the setting but I think that for the most part, items like the grave set and what have you just look out of place in DD.

But yeah, Bitter End in pretty fucking neat and the Witches hat, can't think of it's name, is fancy as fuck.

The Archers cap, is also pretty spiffy.

But yeah just to recap, most of the gear is too edgy fantasy for my taste. When compared to the rest of the base game anyway.

Welp, BBI 2.0 was my ultimate goal of that particular play through. Starting a NG+ now! Edited my Arisen's face a tiny bit, do you guys like it or should I go back to the drawing board?

I guess to ask another question, my Arisen went through life as a Mystic Knight. I played it out by leveling as a Fighter until I had maxed the vocation, and then leveling as a Warrior until I maxed the vocation. Since this is NG+, and I'll probably do Hard Mode, should I level in any other vocations before going back to Mystic Knight?

I should have explained further. It wouldn't work because there's a cap on the amount of damage one person can do per round. If you go over then no damage that you inflict is counted against the total. Maker's Finger would certainly be too much damage as the caps are very low on PC.

Got a bit curious whether to switch over to magick archer now that I'm level 110 and get some more defenses out of the last 90 level-ups - or stay sorcerer for more magic damage. Anyone here got some advice, possibly?

If it helps, I spent the first 10 levels as Strider, then hopped over to Ranger up to about 40 before making the switch to Sorcerer.

Searching for level 200 in the pawn is bugged, you have to search for level 199 instead and still sometimes you can't find the pawns you're looking for. In that case, it's easier to add the owner in steam so you can find its pawn in your friend list. It will also cost 0RC hiring it, regardless of level.

I don't really like the aesthetics of giant swords, nor do I usually like playing slower classes, and Berserk didn't particularly appeal to me (though I like a lot of games that draw inspiration from it), so I didn't expect to like it. Well you're a lot more likely to get hires if your pawn's a woman, unfortunately. Also, while I'm not a huge fan of mages in general, I think Utilitarian and whatever else should work well. Anything but Guardian basically. Other than that his spells are alright. Personally I'd switch him to sorcerer, as Anodyne's healing drops off like a rock around like level 70ish

It's a shame it's unfinished but the texture pack makes the blue moon tower look really good.

So, since Fighter pawns are best when they have Dragon's Maw, and Dragon's Maw uses a LOT of stamina, it's a good idea to give them some levels as Ranger, right?

It certainly plays a part in already enchanted weapons, since the Magick Attack goes up with Acuity/Attunement.
On a spell-enchanted weapon, your Magick Attack is meaningless, only the enchanter's Magick matters.

Grigori was a badass arisen who lost against the Seneschal (Savan), that's all.

BBI is like the Everfall, it's connected to all worlds.

The female dragon that cursed the other guy (Ashe) was Grette, an arisen from another world who also lost agaisnt her world's Seneschal (not Savan), becoming a dragon. When she was arisen, she saved Ashe, who was a kid when the dragon attacked it's village. He was the only survivor and Grette adopted him. When Grette became a dragon, she chose him as arisen. Olra (not the one in BBI entrance) was Grette's pawn and when Grette died and became a dragon, Olra turned human and eventually became Ashe's beloved. When he discovered the truth about who the dragon was and was presented the option between killing Grette or sacrificing Olra, he cursed the world. Grette interpreted this as a wish and took Olra's life and turned him into Daimon.
Shit wouldn't happened if Ashe wasn't a bitch and understood Grette wanted him to free her by killing her.

Is act of vengeance worth a shit? When I'm charging it trash enemies just seem to stand back or use ranged attacks and larger enemies give me a faceful of dirt, though I imagine the latter wouldn't be as bad if I used the augment that gives you more stability when charging and didn't have a min-weight character. War cry doesn't seem to do anything either, I thought I could combo it with that or corona slash to take out crowds of trash fast but they don't even seem to switch aggro from my pawn to me, let alone actually approach me.

whichever is most appealing to you. The classes are well balanced and play relatively uniquely from each other. The pawn system allows a lot of flexibility.

Strongest class is debatable/depends on the circumstances but all four contenders are the yellow classes. Weakest class is warrior. Every class is super fun, though, although they usually suck until you get them to rank 6 or so and unlock their fun stuff.

The only class I recommend against is mage, it's fun but sorcerer is better in basically every way and has access to every fun thing mage also has. Mage gets a couple of healing spells sorc doesn't but curatives are simply much, much better than mage healing anyway.

My favourite is magick archer personally.

the Augment system (passive abilities) forces you to play most of the classes anyway since the best augments are usually unlocked at rank 9. Magick Archer and Mystic Knight are two of the most fun classes ever made in a game. They will make it hard to want to play other classes.

oh yeah and since it's your first time you should know that there are very few arbitrary stats/things in the game. The first place this is going to matter is the height and weight stats in character creation, which you would probably assume were cosmetic. They aren't, both stats affect numerous things. Heavy characters are more stable and can carry more but move slower and have more trouble climbing on monsters, for instance, and there's a lot more to it than that.

This game is made in a way that encourages you to pick your battles.
There are some fights that you encounter early on for which you are not really supposed to be ready yet. The pawns and loading screen tips frequently remind you that sometimes it's OK to run away from a fight.

I can see why people might dislike this but I think it's pretty neat, it's an interesting way of setting up the world, at least during your first playthrough when you still don't know what's up.
