Make sure you play IB next time, I came back on the Monday of the last IB and got all my characters from 300-310 to 320+ On the same day. Always wear the highest light level items you have, even if it looks like shit and gives you bad stats, you can worry about that when you're 320 and you can start focusing on build rather than level

I think they fixed necrochasm to always proc firefly on kill which could cause game crashes. vex was a mistake and nerfing/buffing it fucks up fusion rifles because they're stuck in the same archetype. thorn is thorn. ice breaker is infinite ammo.

What planet are you farming? But yea its all RNG, you can run it all in one zone if you want or switch its up to you. I ran spinmetal for the arc sword recently n got it all done in The Divide in about 2 hours. Was using a motion sensor gun and started to recognize material spawn locations after the first hour, made the next hour fly by.

The five second delay means he's dead if you have your shotgun out. Worst case is a trade if you have to pull yours out before shooting him.
If you don't have a shotgun it means you're using a sniper, in which case you suck at sniping if he gets close enough for a 1HK in the first place.

From everything you're posting i get the impression you're not playing your weapons at the range they're supposed to. If you don't push corners while your radar shows corners, and if you land headshots, there's no excuse to die.

I highly doubt someone will be Blinking towards me at sniper range, if he's blinking then it means he's close enough to land the shot

Im doing the exact opposite, i use a sniper like i should, to kill people in long range exclusively, and switch to either a HC or SR to deal with people at Mid-close range.
The only time when i use a shotgun is when im forced to play in close quarters maps like drifter, any other time in rocking SR and Sniper

I think your basing all of this in the context that the guy isn't blinking when he's already close enough to you to kill you right after blinking once, and that you have to headshot the shotgunner the second he turns the corner with your sniper, something which is not only harder to do that backing away and using your primary, but also leaves you in a situation where, if you miss, you are already dead.

I don't like risking my life for an epic close range headshot, i prefer backing away and having more room to work with, maybe use grenades or at the very least shoot him twice and punch him and hope for the best.

How important is a mic for a raid? How necessary are raids? I've never raided and I just started getting back into Destiny, working on getting my levels up, even though my light is still kinda low level 38 light 180 or so. Right now I'm working on taken king stuff.

I'm trying to stay mainly coop though I may jump into team deathmatch later.

What I recommend: Find a group of people you know, get to be friends and then stick with them and use /dg/ as lfg.

communication is key in raids. you can get to max light without raids, but raids will always be the fastest way to do it. right now you dont need to worry about raids until you hit like 300 light

so what's the deal with resource nodes and their spawn parameters? aren't patrol areas re-instanced frequently?

for example, i'm farming spinmetal on earth for one of the exotic swords. i'm spawning in with a spinmetal ghost, aiming down sight with a sniper and going to the location of every resource node. once i've gotten them all i move on to the next area and do the same. rinse and repeat until i've cleared every area and i've made my way back to the patrol spawn in The Divide.

When I get back however, the spinmetal hasn't respawned. Normally I'd expect there to be a new instance after ~10 minutes have passed. I thought going to orbit and coming back to patrol would CERTAINLY give me a new instance and thus more resource nodes, but no dice. I'll spawn in and have to wait a while for the resources to respawn

How does this work? Any way I can manipulate this..?

So I just started this game and I have no idea what i'm doing.
I'm trying to complete Patrols 101, but the markers on the map aren't giving me the missions I need to complete the quest. It keeps giving me shit like collecting wires when the only ones I need left are simply killing enemies and collecting energy spikes.
Is there any way to guarantee I receive the missions I actually need to do, or is it completely random?

On release the game was far worse. Think of it as a Diablo 3 situation, where the expansion fixed most of the problems.

Honestly though, I think that even on release the game was slammed a bit too hard, mainly because it had been overhyped.
