Cargo tech is a terrible job to learn ss13 from. Every new player is sent there and you all waddle around with no idea of what to do next at all. Do you get it? You're told to go there because it's low impact to the station as a whole and you're far out of the way of the valids and the serious players.

Play robotics, a lot of experianced players play research roles, and there's plenty to keep you occupied and it's not a high risk high demand job. You also get to learn about how items interact and context sensetive items, and everything you'd need is in a small lab and you can't get lost.

The game relies on a level of secrecy and players finding out things through the game to function. Because we cannot (and will not) predict or sift through all the possibilities of how IC information may effect the round by posting outside of it we blanket ban it entirely.

That round has ended and because I have other things to do I'm not going to log on and yell.

Also as you have noticed any sort of namefagging will get driven out unless the user is an admin, and even we get shit on for it. I would not recommend it.

I would try enabling graphics hardware in your preferences by pressing the gear symbol in your Byond client, selecting preferences, and then going to Games and ticking the box. You are looking for "use graphics hardware" option.

We're moving away from supporting users that don't use graphics hardware. If that was what you did you may experience completely black space. If this occurs, disable parallax by typing toggle-parallax (or any fragment of it then pressing space) in the pink bar at the bottom. It relies on graphics hardware and will shit a brick if it isn't enabled.

Yes that is exactly what I am saying. There are many games I would love to be new to again. It pains me that I cannot play X3:TC or Albion Prelude. I have over a thousand hours in it. I don't see it like newer players do anymore. All I see is scripts telling things what to do in predictable, seen it before ways. Mods have died out for it which is understandable since X3: Reunion, the first in the series, was published in 2005 and the two expansions kept it alive for as long as it could but it shows its age and isn't as timeless as SS13 or DF.

I want so badly to be new again and not know what's in a Xenon Sector. I want to build my first space empire again. I want to supply fleets of ships again. I want to capture carriers and destroyers and raid star systems. I want it to all feel new and unexplored. But I can't. Because I've played for over a thousand hours. And I know what's happening even if I try not to think about it. I don't see it as a game anymore that I can be immersed in. I'm just following the well worn path I've followed a dozen times before.

So yeah, if you cannot find enjoyment in SS13 anymore I can't give you anything I haven't given you already. I'd recommend it again if you haven't tried it - a new server. There are codebases that are dramatically different from ours with different people.
