I'd love to see a vastly-built-upon trading aspect, like the idea that you can have fluctuations in the price of crops and goods depending on what season it is and what events are happening in nearby towns, being able to place bulk orders for specific items, standing orders from merchants to refill your stock of commonly-used things like fertilizers and giantizers, etc.

Also, overhauling inventory a bit to just use a single-slot high-quantity system with a total item limit you can increase with better backpacks and stuff would be nice. So if you pull up a big-ass harvest of stuff rather than 60 slots of 9 items each you'd just have 1 slot with 600 items (even being limited to 255 by the hex value cap would be a vast improvement).

Problem is that most of us don't play anything else that the thread is supposed to be about, so whenever someone comes asking a question about those games they're usually met with silence because we just don't know what to tell them.

Thing is we used to be exclusively an RF/HM/SOS general but then we hit a point where we were constantly dying due to inactivity and we figured broadening ourselves somewhat might help in that regard, though how effective the shift was still gets debated from time to time (I'm the guy that originally pitched /XSFG so naturally I'm biased as shit about it).

One other thin to think about is that one of the constant things that gets brought up about this general that people like is how nice and laid-back it is here compared to many generals, I mean /SKG flies through generals on an average of one a day if not faster and never mind how nasty many others can be. Mostly our problem is surviving the late-night and early-afternoon periods where things seem to slow down the most, that and the odd spam attack.

Well they get a flat 10% conversion rate for the XP their character gets, so anything that boosts that'll help: apparently there're some XP+ quartz you can get mid-late game and you could try putting the ones you particularly want to boost on your traditional benchwarmers and carrying them through fights for powerlevelling.

My bad, the only reference to an XP+ quartz is from Cold Steel II so it may not even be present in AoK. As for specific ways of boosting xp, though, Shining Poms seem to be the standard, particularly for the last dungeon, so hunting those fuckers along with bringing out members of your B-team and bumrushing them to higher levels seems your main option.

Just picked up Unchained Blades. So far, it isn't terrible. The follower system adds some reasonable Pokemon collection to the dungeon crawler formula, and its story-based/linear nature is working on a good power curve through the first two dungeons (as far as I am right now). Its version of the sphere grid system from FF10 is simplified, but I do prefer it in these early stages. Not needing to backtrack or find key spheres is appreciated, and letting each character get their own unique grid means that there is no situation where you're having to manage and redirect earluer characters around later ones. It does mean that everyone won't get everything eventually, but that was pointless in FF10 anyway, unless you really like grinding for days at a time.
The story has promise so far, and the characters are likeable enough. It's nothing spectacular, but it could shape up into something solid.
The voice acting isn't terrible, the dub is okay. Walking does feel a little sluggish, coming from Etrian Odyssey Untold's breakneck running pace and smooth animation. The levelling system isn't as swingy as a Compile Heart game (oh, I'm getting one-shot by the boss? Excuse me while I kill one enemy, level, and then one-shot you right back.), but it is still fairly noticeable where I am. I'm hoping that, with such small number gains, it'll even out later. We'll see. There's also the issue with needing to walk into every square for the automap when there really isn't that much to look at. These levels are not gorgeous. Last gripe would be the tutorial system, which is long, dull, and still somehow not informative enough.
All in all, it's a fine dungeon crawler if you're looking for one, but it isn't my first recommendation for someone looking for a good time. My opinion might change as I see more of what it has to offer, but right now, it just doesn't do anything in particular better than anything else.

IIRC critical hits ignore defense and're something like a 50% damage boost, though since so few items and materials boost critical chance it's better to focus on overall damage than try to specialize in critical hits.

As for Sechs territory, it's pretty horrible in that it forces you to do a lot of roundabout-ing and also has plenty of hidden routes and transitions and whatnot, so make sure to hump the walls and check every available area you currently can to see if you maybe missed a switch or something.

I’m going to finally try out the Trails in the Sky series as soon as I’m done with the SMT main series. Should I play these games in English or Japanese? I’ve watched a little bit of the beginning of the game in Japanese and English and the localization looks pretty good. Still, wanted to ask others, If I really get into the series I’ll likely want to play the others in the Trails series, and Ao and Zero haven’t been localized, so I’d have to play those in Japanese anyway. Might be weird to play TiTs and CS in English and Ao and Zero in English, but then I’ve done that before.

It's a shame, too, I could totally see Amber and Kiel getting together, and Leon and Dolce could possibly work something out snarkily ever after. Xiao and Arthur could make a very interesting couple, too. Clorica and Dylas? It's really kinda' neat actually, now that I think about it the starter town theme from III definitely has some elements and vibes from this piece and I'm sure plenty of others have bits here and there. Go river diving and see if you can get some bricks and gems. Keep the bricks and sell the gems for money.
Work on clearing the rocks and trees from your farm when you have the stamina to spare.


Make sure you also keep at least 5 turnip seeds before spring ends. You need them to build a seed maker and the shop doesn't sell them once summer hits.

Bokujō Monogatari in Japan is now Story of Seasons in the West. HM is now reduced to shovelware reveling in their former success glory as an exclusive localization company for BM for close to twenty years.

There are 6 bachelors and bachelorettes. One bachelorette is introduced in the fall (the park ranger), one a secret candidate unlocked via event (the plant girl you may or may not know from another game). Four (4) bachelors/ettes each are available at the start of the game.

And yes, the dating system is carried over from ANB. You exclusively date first before you marry. There's no divorce, but you can break up with said girlfriend/boyfriend and freely woo other candidates again.

A Wonderfu Life is alright, its the most realistic HM but that's one of its biggest flaws as crops take ages to grow and cows don't give milk until they've given birth iirc and some other stuff. Fortunately it has the best child mechanics as you get to raise him from child to adult each waifu gives you a different child with a different look/personality, bad thing about it is there's only three waifus.

The other game, Magical Melody is pretty good and is more of a traditional game if you can bear the terrible chibi like models and the somewhat clunky controls. Its pretty decent for a HM game.
