Disregard the first part of this post, read the article wrong. At least we'll probably see a reveal trailer before /acg/ throws in the towel. For the record, I feel like /acg/ is one of those generals where for all intents and purposes, should be dead, but will always refuse to be so.
>>
>>145840880
/acg/ is that one heavyweight AC getting shitfucked in a free for all where everyone else is bouncing all over the place in lightweights, but the lone heavy just refuses to fucking die for some reason, even when the lightweights start ganging up on him. Then some cunt closes in to try and blade him to death but he just pulls out a physical blade and punches the blader in the face and one shots him.

>>145823535
ACFA, more than any game in the series, lets you equip whatever feels right/looks cool and be successful. It doesn't punish you for not figuring out how the game works and just jumping in and spamming weapons. The single player is incredibly easy.

Top-tier stuff is only 'equally' complex to other games because of the amount of reaction time and aiming precision that's required.

A new AC game of some form is confirmed. We don't know if it's one of the 3 next games, or something coming afterwards.

The only evidence that it might be one of the next 3 games is that it's confirmed one of them is a reboot of an old series.
>>
>>145844828
You might want to clarify that in the future then, because as far as mechanics go it is much more broad and nuanced than any previous title. FA is the third easiest game in the series though, next to 4 and SL.
>>
>>145845187
>SL is easiest

Did you not play 3?

I wouldn't call FA "nuanced". It just put numbers to stats that were already in previous games. But it also dumbed down things like acceleration/top speed (making it pure thrust/weight except for overweight ACs) and making the lock box 'fuzzy (worse lock on the corners)' and invisible.

But overall, the changes to 4/FA (nuanced or not) mostly reflected making the game easier to for single player for a new audience.

>>
>>145848621
Acceleration/top speed has been delegated to average speed, which is much more efficient in telling you how fast your AC is generally, especially considering top speed would be a useless mechanic in gen 4 anyway. Mechanics like stability, Primal Armor, different stage boosting, and how literally every part class and even some individual parts change flight patterns does add nuance to how you pilot an AC, and how you spec it out.

I don't quite know what worse lock on the corners is supposed to refer to, I'm assuming it means the corners of the screen. If that's the case my lock doesn't have any trouble tracking enemies that are even beyond my screen when I play with /acg/, and the lock on mostly has to do with why the game is so easy. Having an automatic lock allowed the control scheme to be pretty much perfected for this type of game. It takes more skill to juggle aim, movement, and weapons in the previous titles.

Strayed's NEXT from ACFA. If you exclude player characters it gets a lot harder to narrow down. I'd say White Glint, but that's technically also a player entity.

Either way it's probably something from the 4 era.

You'd think they would have a back up NEXT considering white glint is still registered on Collared and seems to do missions, earning Coam.

Also blows that he doesn't appear insuring the ORCA arc or as a wingman in. any other mission than his own.

>>

I feel the role of Line Ark was as a distraction to lead the player to belive they were going to be the main faction that will drive the war against the corporations, making ORCA somehow a surprise.
>>
>>145885748
What I mean is that all ACs accellerate on the same curve in AC4/FA. There's no accel vs top speed tradeoff like in other games, raising your top speed raises all of your other speed stats. That's why movement is really floaty when slow. Every other game has different accelleration profiles depending on booster stats.

I meant when the target was in the corners of the screen, not the AC. The further your target is from the center of the screen, the worse the lock time, response time, and tracking.

It's the same lock box as Last Raven, but with a "fuzzy" lock box outside of it that gets worse and worse the further away from the center depending on your stats. Both of these changes were made to 'clean up' the gameplay so you can more easily just jump in and spam weapons.
>>
>>145917641
In terms of raw skill, the player character from AC:LR, mostly because he didn't have human plus when everyone else did.

In terms of raw firepower, Probably N-WGIX/v from ACVD. While the single player version is obviously weaker than a next, the multiplayer version probably packs more firepower on an even playing field than anyone else.

In terms of both? Strayed from ACFA.

But if you put the pilot from AC LR into Strayed, that would be the most powerful combination of skill with the firepower to match.

The arms forts weren't really all that powerful. They even explain in-game that they were mostly next deterrents, not actual weapons intended to destroy pilots. Hard mode Motherwill is probably the most powerful arms fort.
>>
>>145919416
This is a good answer, if only it had been allowed to keep building. Unlike arms forts, all of the pulverizers were legitimate threats.

No other AC game did the whole "accumulate battle data to create the ultimate weapon" thing better than ACLR.

>>145934341
ACVD had J/the foundation, ACFA had the arms forts, the PS1 games had Nine Ball, ACSL had IBIS. All of which were "ultimate weapons" that were improved or involved over time, usually with some input from the player character
>>
>>145933175
>put the pilot from AC LR into Strayed

if that happens, it would be the most OP character in any mecha related crossover.
>>
>>145934605

I dont think that really counts, since they just shift from using another ACs to a NEXT, they just tried to kill you with a far superior machine

>ACFA
those dont count, I think they dont fit the concept

>Nineball
same with ACVD, it just goes from normal to super mode.

when talking about "evolving weapon" I feel it has to appear multiple times and each time improving little by little until it reach the ultimate weapon phase, just going from normal (Nineball/Reaper Squad) to ultimate weapon is like going into a super mode instead of actual "evolving" (J/Nineball seraph). IBIS is super weapon already. with no "normal" mode.

This is how I generally separated the tier:
God tier involves amazing achievements that shouldn't be possible.

If any pilot was considered the greatest pilot on earth at any one time (Maggy, Zinaida, Evangel, Berlioz, Leos Klein, Anatolia's mercenary) they are in the dominant tier.

Irregular Tier are pilots that were so dangerous they were considered a major threat, and if the player character did not stop them, they would have been a contender for most powerful combatant in the world at that time.

Rebel Tier are notably strong pilots that could beat a majority of other pilots in their time, but are ultimately killed / likely to be killed by anyone in the higher tiers.

Normal tier is everyone else.

God Tier: Greatest of all time
Dominant Tier: Greatest Living
Irregular Tier: Top 5 living
Rebel Tier: Top 30% living

I'm guessing Berlioz got more backstory in the Japanese version or something? What was his deal other than being rank 1?

Otsdarva was never with Rayleonard was he? I thought he was always an Omer shill.

Shinkai got fucked over pretty hard though. He's got one of the most tragic stories in the 4 series.
>be new guy at the corporation

>escape with your Next, find mentor's wreckage and take her sword, begin planning your revengeance
>years later
>your new Orca bros have you all hyped up since you're the last Rayleonard Lynx

Worst thing is if strayed joined ORCA, he gets his shit kicked in either way.

Fucking Omer ruins everything though.

in game biography of Otsdarva

>Formerly from Rayleonard, this is Omer's trump card. His home is the battlefield, where he developed ingenious battle strategies. His mid-range attack style ignores all limitations of his LAHIRE frame, evidence of his estrangement from Omer.

I think he was a pilot in training when Rayleonard fell, when OMER took everthing that was left from Rayleonard, he came along, when OMER discovered the Closed Plan he and probably with the help of Maelzel, manage to convice OMER to support the plan, and being the "ghost of Rayleonard" also offer to lead the plan, then manage to contact his senpai (Shinkai) and the other of the five and start building ORCA.

I didn't care much about the plot up until that moment. Then it hit me: the wrecked cradles throughout the game weren't just a cool reference. I realized I was playing the sequel to the 4 era games, and that I was fighting against a Next with nothing but my custom Normal. My hype levels reached critical mass at that point.

>>145982168
The one in FA probably could have been fixed with time and resources, but Line Ark was destroyed and so nobody could bother to restore it. Plus since the machine was defeated, it was probably deemed inferior to the Nexts that took it out. Why bother spending money rebuilding White Glint when you can just hire Strayed for the job?

Also, the fact that the player is able to buy the White Glint parts may actually be canon. Think about it. If it's not profitable for anyone else to dump resources into recovering and restoring those parts due to it being more economic to hire Strayed, that means restoring White Glint is ONLY profitable for Strayed himself (if he deems the parts to be useful to him).

Going by that logic, it's not unreasonable to say that VD era humanity (or whatever the Foundation Man is) could also restore White Glint if they manage to recover it. If we take multiplayer as being somewhat canon, VD era humanity also managed to restore Motherwill, so rebuilding a Next isn't too far out there.

It's really fun, you have to make use of terrain a lot more and cover is more important. It's harder to gain elevation and you have to really work to stay mobile. Once you git gud the gameplay is only a little bit slower than 4 relatively speaking (though in reality you're moving a lot slower than a Next due to the scale of the game and the smaller AC size). It makes more sense once you play it.

The final battle of VD has you fighting 1v1 against a 4 era Next, complete with primal armor, assault armor, quickboosts, etc. Meanwhile you're stuck in a manlet AC half the thing's size that's basically just a custom Normal. It's one of the coolest fights in the series, I just wish it was a bit harder.

Anyone have that piece of art with the AC standing on the ground while NGWIX is flying towards it with its VOB?

Forgive me as I have a cold and was too weak to say it earlier to those who were in SNFA;

To simply put it; you guys are amazing pilots. Unmatched. Unparalleled. As I attempt to take on pilots who probably have years of experience under their belt. Coming form the FGC, a lost from such a skilled pilot is no weakness, it only relaxes the mind. Understanding why I lost is the most important thing in my life, because not knowing only drains your ability to keep going.

>The Fight
Ha, what fight. I imagine you guy saying something like "you deserve to be in a normal" or "Did you actually think you could beat me with such a terrible build?" and the likes. One thing that really effects me is my own fault of placing expectation onto myself which in return causing me to get nervous (the butterflies). I fear not being good enough. I constantly wonder how to get better and want it badly.

>My build
I have been in an experimental mode since I started ACFA and came here to join the community. I'm pretty sure there have been multiple pilots who come to /acg/ thinking their some hotshot only to be slapped in the face with realization. I too went that route. The only thing I can think about in ACFA is going faster and how to I do more damage. But I guess the game is more balanced than I thought. Placing shoulder boosters onto my NEXT I knew it was a big risk - gaining speed and losing power- to compensate, I threw on Assault Armor and of course shoulder missiles. With this I figured I could depend on AA and chip away the remaining damage with my arsenal. But it didn't work like that. I should finish obtaining the remaining FRS memory via hard mode completion. I also notice a lot of times I have an opportunity to blade, so I will be testing out using a blade. If you don't mind me asking how do I obtain the strongest blade in the game? Is it from Shinkai through completion of the last Collared mission(Hard)? And what's its name?

TL:DR I'm happy I joined the AC-munity. Thank you
>>
>>146041627
If you buy them on PC or PS3 yeah.
>>
>>146041627
AC games have pretty solid agency. I don't ever feel as if the game is directing me on how to feel about a mission. If I see a dozen drones flying out of an Arms Fort, I freak out and worry about my present ammunition, if I have enough firepower to kill all of them, and if the supposed "help" will arrive soon enough or will be helpful enough to even soften the foes up. If I'm playing gens 1-3 and I get overheated or I see my AP drop to nothing, the warning sirens get my blood racing, not because the game is telling me that this is a precarious and dangerous situation and I should be careful of who's around me, but because there is still a job that needs to be done and my lack of AP presently will force me to make extremely cautious decisions, or I will fail the mission in entirety, considering I still need to worry about ammunition conservation, which foes I should be targeting immediately, how evasive I should be versus how offensive I should be, and the significance of "cover" has now skyrocketed, as every single bullet I take from here until the end can potentially be my last.
>>
>>146042380
Don't ever beat yourself up for stepping into a pack of wolves and getting chewed up. Only beat yourself up for thinking that you can't get back in there and start chomping on their fur.

If you're trying to blade, rock the Dragonslayer. I'd avoid shoulder boosters unless you're only trying to be a sword skater. Make sure you have some form of tool for a ranged offensive that will keep consistent damage on your targets. Snipers are really, really shitty in most cases to be quite honest, unless your build is exclusively a sniper build. If you intend to use a close-ranged bipedal sword-user, I'd recommend a machinegun with a really high rate of fire. AS missiles shoulders are also a pretty decent compliment to this setup, as they permit you to keep pounding away at your opponent's PA and AP even when they aren't directly getting pattered by Machinegun fire. Assault Armor is a nice touch, although I wouldn't come to rely on it unless you figure it'd be good for boosting a weapon with really low PA piercing, in which case I'd recommend you put a Grenade Cannon or Missiles on your back to take advantage after you AA their PA away.

I'd also advise you practice QB and Quick-Turning as much as possible. Learn how to get behind an opponent and, as quickly as possible, be facing them again. You'll notice a significant increase in victories when you can "pass" an opponent and keep on their ass in the heat of combat.

AC has tons of player agency. I can even give an example with comparisons to other games in the genre.

>The mission is a high speed chase/assault where you have to rapidly get from point A to B while fighting enemies
Armored Core just gives you a mission briefing and mentions that you'll probably want to equip your AC to go fast. Front Mission Evolved on the other hand actually restricts your ability to use any leg piece but hoverlegs for this mission instead of allowing the player to be creative and find their own solution.

Really, mech games as a genre have some of the most player agency in any video games out there. You have to look pretty hard to find examples of the opposite (Front Mission Evolved is probably the biggest offender I can think of, it does the forced leg piece bullshit several times throughout the game).

>League needed line ark out of the picture before doing the ORCA thing

I have being wondering. Is really accuarate to say that is the LEAGUE the one behind ORCA? while the game said that the league has become just a front for the political influence of OMER, remember that the league is composed by all the coorporations, the assaults cells were created to make a stop to a space race withing them, if the league, and that means all the coorporations, were ok with ORCA, why the need of the secret war with terrorist? wouldnt be more racional to create a secondary set of anti-satellite cannons and build their own power supply? for me ORCA is leading the war in a honor of the original plan of Rayleonard and being the proxy of the real intentions of OMER, the ones that decide to support the closed plan after Rayleonard's fall. The whole scenario is like a war were OMER is against the league, but using ORCA as a proxy to avoid what happen to Rayleonard and Akva vit, all the coorporatiosn forces gangbanging them.
>>
>>146072954
yes
>>
>>146072981
Except OMER has different intentions. They just want to be the first to space, whereas ORCA supposedly wants to give humanity a fighting chance. This is very different, as the rule of the companies will continue and get even worse with OMER building a monopoly in space by being the only ones prepared for the rush, and the reason why the only ending where humanity has a long-term survival chance free from the corporation's control is the Destruction path.
In the words of Senator Anderson: "We need to wipe the slate clean. BURN IT DOWN!"
>>
>>146072954
Really depends on the game. In Verdict Day that would be most lightweight bipeds unles you really know what you're doing, and the infamous Kumo Quad for actually taking quite a bit of knowledge to get really good damage.
Ans sniper RJs in team battles. In 1v1s you can dominate the pace of the fight with them, but in teams your damage is irrelevant and the opponent can just rush in and 3v4 the rest of your team to death and then focus on knocking the annoying little guy out of the sky.
>>
>>146073419
I never said OMER intentions were pure, probably from the ones in ORCA, but OMER is just securing his position. what I wonder if it is correct to say the whole thing is supported by the "league".
>>
>>146073802
OMER does have a monopoly on most of the League excluding GA and Algebra.
Though I guess(speculate on no basis) it's either RL's original closed plan would've taken longer, and OMER is already focusing on a profitable market (AF & NEXTs) and building energy sources would've taken longer.
Plus there's the issue of pitching this idea to league may result in rejection be other corps as they may not benefit from space fast enough.
OMER never made any sense to me since Seed A Barren Earth.

All parts from 4 made it to FA, even though they renamed the ones referencing the Religion of Peace, and WG's emblem is there too. So yes, you can. The Laser Blade he uses isn't the best, but he's far from terrible. If you give him better binternals he can be a pretty decent CQC AC and one of the better cosplays, even though his damage output is kinda lacking. Not sure if he can be used without load tuning, they changed carry capacities pretty drastically over the patches.

>Mechwarrior games (namely 2)
Mah melanin enhanced individual.

You'll probably like AC if you're into Mechwarrior, especially MW Mercenaries since they're pretty similar concepts (although you don't manage your own team in AC, you're typically just a solo merc pilot). The only thing that might put you off is that there aren't really any stock frames in AC, and instead you build your mech from scratch. So instead of buying a specific model and customizing it (like a Thor or Madcat), you're buying all your parts separately (torso, arms, legs, head, weapons, generators, boosters, etc) and mashing them together into your own personal creation.
>>
>>146079519
Ah, hopefully it's from shop at least since I don't have a 4 save.
I don't mind tuning, though it interests me how barren the fame looks weapon wise compared to Raven's.
I though it was the other way round with stuff like Aalyiah frame.

I'm completely cool with that. Sounds fun to me!

How's the mobility of the robots though, I think that's the important part. Is it minor boosters and jump jets like MW or is it full-on spastic boosting everywhere like VO or Gundam Vs.? Both are cool in my book, I'm just curious.
>>
>>146079453
Maybe. This game has a fuckton of customization. Get FA (very fast and simple to get into, fairly hard to master) or VD (a little more complicated movement as you can't freely gain altitude, but almost as fast as FA once you git gud. Has a lot more terrain variety too and utilizes the environment way more). Be aware both games are fairly dead, even though there's a /vg/ team on VD that plays somewhat regularly (hint hint, you should join. We're helpful) and usually an active FA lobby on sundays and sometimes during the week if you ask. Both games have a decent single player, with FA having the more interesting story since there's actual twists involved and you get to chooses endings on multiple playthroughs.
Or I guess you could start with an old game. Be aware anything prior to Nexus uses tank controls and it'll take you a while to get used to that. It doesn't really matter which game you start with, the pastebin explains how the save transferring between individual games works. Also, you really shouldn't go into Last Raven without prior experience, even though it's one of the top titles in the series. Literally everything has an advantage on you (Human+ enhancements), even the lowest arena opponents, and even the first of the Pulverizers will wreck your shit if you haven't played an AC game before and are at least an average pilot.
AC3 and Silent Line are both pretty easy. Or just start from the first one if you want to experience the glory that is the OG Nineball.
>>
>>146080489
>tank controls

My favorite game is Virtual On. I have no problem with that at all. I was kinda hoping for something single player in either a MW or VO vein so multiplayer isn't really a thing I need. That said, if the single player's shit but the MP's good, are there any games I should avoid if I just wanna play alone?
>>
>>146080034
Everything is buyable, don't worry.

>>146080373
Actually, now that you mention it: AC4/FA is full-on spastic boosting everywhere, to a pretty damn ridiculous degree if you're in a lightweight, while AC5/VD is more like a slightly more free-form MW thanks to walljumps, revjoints and glide boost. Online is also mostly team-based.
The old games are kind of a mix. You're mostly unable to premaflight or boost constantly unless you build for it, and there's no Quick Boost save for the occasional extension part (which is a fixed angle, usually back or quick turning), meaning you can't instantly change direction.

I haven't played any Gundam games lately but I'd say the older AC games (1-3 and their expansions) have similar speeds as Virtual On. Most of the combat is grounded and kind of slow paced, though I'd say you're still more maneuverable than in MW (Mechwarrior feels more like you're driving a walking tank, while AC feels more like you're in something from Gundam).

AC4 era goes insanely fast though and focuses a lot on aerial combat, complete with a few stages taking place in low orbit with you flying around dueling other mechs on top of space stations. The ACV era games go back to the more grounded combat and focus more on using cover and terrain, though it still plays really fast like the 4 games since you have a lot of mobility options like wall bouncing.

One thing to remember is that each AC game typically gets better with the following expansions. For example, Armored Core 4 isn't really anything special, but it's sequel Armored Core For Answer is considered one of the best in the series. Similarly, Armored Core V is so bad that its servers got shut down BEFORE the AC4 servers, yet its sequel Verdict Day is also generally considered to be one of the best games. At least among the "modern" ones anyway.
>>
>>146080951
Both of the gen 5 games are somewhat multiplayer-focused, but they still have quite a bit of story content (which is completely doabel by yourself, and if you're 2bad fot that you can program an AI companion in VD), and the old ones are almost entirely single player with a duel mode strapped on top.
If you want a current game with lots of single player, take For Answer. Maybe play 4 first if you want, it's a litle rough around the edges You should get VD after though, please
>>
>>146081136

Generally speaking, faster is better in my book. I like Oratorio Tangram (VO2) better than the original VO, but they're both good. Force (VO3) is too slow for what it is. MW works though because there's some semblance of strategy and shit (and you actually have to aim), whereas VO: Force is basically just Virtual On played in molasses with a team mechanic in a game where that doesn't really work that well.

So if I were to guess I'd say I'd probably want to try whatever the most recent expansion of AC4 is then?
>>
>>146036719

I feel stupid for not getting it earlier and now both Online are dead outside of here and Asians.
Probably would get VD at somepoint but I'm holding out for 7, which I hope is within 2 years
>>
>>146081669
Armored Core For Answer is basically the pinnacle of FAST for AC games. Definitely a good place to start too.

If you can handle a mild downgrade, you should also try Armored Core 4 at some point. FA is a direct sequel to it and there are a few characters and plot points carried over between the games, so if you're into the story and like FA then you definitely have to play 4 (4 can still be enjoyed after playing FA as long as you can handle the weaker gameplay experience).

That said, the story in the AC4 games is told in a vague way similar to Dark Souls, so it's mostly just DEEPEST LORE type stuff like realizing that a certain NPC in FA was the player character from 4, or the background on how the planet got so polluted. The stories in the two games are mostly unrelated and self contained though.
>>

>>
>>146084191
Depends. It has a ton of side missions and really isn't much different in length from 5 (someone correct me if I'm wrong, it's been a while).
>>
>>146084425
Is it shorter than most in series?
I just want a game to occupy weeks of time before going online.
>>
>>146085938
It's story missions are a lot shorter than the ones in VD, but there's more parts and around 40-50 side missions I think. Maybe a bit more. You also have to unlock parts by getting good ranks and completing side tasks. If you're the type of person to spend a lot of time customizing your mech, it'll occupy quite some time. There's also hardcore modes, where you only get a specific number of ACs ( each mission fail is -1 AC) and each one changes some numbers around that grossly impact how you'll play (ex. Effective damage you take is amplified by 5, but ineffective damage is reduced, so you'll have to either buff out all damage you take with defense or avoid getting hit at all). If you're the type of person for that, it's something you can sink some time into.
In terms of single player content FA and LR have the most though.
>>
>>146088162

This man is spot on. VD is good for the singleplayer content, but not up to par with previous AC games. High standards and all that.
>>
>>146093058
>>146088162
I feel a bit let down but interested.
I'll see if I can find it. Had to travel across my city to nab one game in the series.
>>

>>
>>146096463
We should change the OP so the area under SNFA doesn't just say
>ask
anymore. Every weekend someone hosts a lobby on FA, it's fun but if you play people with shitty connections latency will hinder your experience.
>>
>>146096463
The game is so fast that 60-70% of weaponry is downright useless because latency makes them never ever hit. This includes practically all laser weapons sadly. Bladers will also teleport everywhere.
>>
>>146102698
Artillery only?
>>
>>146093742
>>146093058
>>146088162

VD's hardcore mode and better conquest system (V's isn't even online anymore) does give it a lot more replay value. Plus, there are UNACs and the unidentified weapons, which gives you basically unlimited replay ability, especially if you have the UNAC DLC. (though some of the unidentified weapons can be beaten with 2 ACs).

VD's story is also pretty good. Not as good as FA, LR, or 2, but better than SL or AA. About on par with Nexus, but with less lore.

Also, even though FA is "faster" than VD, it's not actually more fast paced. Nexts move quickly, but they're larger and fight form a further range with less cover, which makes them feel 'floatier' and slower than the tight precision of 5th gen ACs.

If you run the numbers, apparent speed (how fast enemies move across the screen) is actually HIGHER in VD because of the closer range and higher acceleration.

>>146079453
Ultimately, it comes down to this:

1. Are you a masochist?
2. Do you love math?
3. Are you willing to spend hours staring at a customization screen only to feel a few seconds of sweet, vindicating badass victory after 2 minutes of actual gameplay?

If so, then yes, you will like AC.

>>146070634
There are a lot of iconic ACs
White Machine gun AC with grenade launcher in AC1 and AC3
Nine Ball in MoA
Karasawa AC (Leos Klein) in MoA and AC2
Farley and Spade from AC2:AA
Genobee and Evangel from Nexus
Nine Ball Reboot from Nine Breaker
Zinaida from LR
Supplice or Leonhardt from AC4
White Glint from ACFA
RD or Chief from ACV
Blue Magnolia from ACVD

Maggy, Nine Ball, Leos Klein, White Glint, and Evangel are probably the easiest to name.

There are many more less iconic ones though.
>>
>>146102698
It's more that most weapons have shit muzzle velocity for the combat range. It takes half a second for most shots to fire.
>>
>>146102698
I had being using laser weapons lately, they dont miss that much, probably like a normal rifle, Hi laser are a little tricky but one can learn how to use them withouth much effort.
>>
>>146106454
I know. But latency exacerbates this problem because they often won't lead properly, and hits are determined by the screen of the one being attacked (at least when it comes to grenade launchers I can confirm this personally, huge explosion from a direct hit and no damage taken)

Yeah, defense in FA is a % damage reduction based on your PA durability and your defense.

Here's a chart showing the individual reduction. Basically, each point of PA durability is worth ~13 points of SH defense and 8 points of EN defense.

So Judith has an extra 50-60 PA durability over other legs, giving it about an effectively 500 point higher defense than what is listed.

fa chart.png
29KB, 941x472px
>>146236693
>>146208467

herp derp forgot to upload the chart

This shows the tradeoff for shell vs en defense, and PA durability. PA durability is x10, so 5000 = 500 units of PA durability. I think the highest durability you can get is close to 900.

Multiply the PA damage and the defense damage to get total damage. So at 500 PA durability and 5000 shell defense, you have a PA damage of 55% and about 72% shell damage

.55 * .72 = ~40% AP loss for every 1 point of shell damage you take.
>>
Ideally you want your EN/SH defense ratio based on your PA durability and how long it will stay up. a 50/50 split is good if you expect your PA to stay up all match.

The more often you expect to lose PA, and the lower your PA durability is, the more SH defense you need compared to EN defense.

The stage is set. The rest is up to you--good luck.

I know all the bumps are horrid, but going to /m/ is accepting defeat. Plus, we'd get lazy and finally die, since no one is compelled to post.

They also have tripfag wars and shitposting galore, with a fuckton of unfunny in-jokes thrown in. I'm glad I left.

>Continued with white glint original
>got his laser cannon and generator
>realised cannons have a shit firing rate, just stick with blade on left side when playing
>had enough chips to tune rectification of the core and legs as well as increase load, though it doesn't help with capacity much
>add WG2's rifle/reward for beating him and the climbing upwards missiles as those don't exceed limit
>finally killed top 4 collared using this set up
Man despite using lower-tier parts it feels good to move with and fire, only issue is dealing with recovering Energy when flying and doing manoeuvres. Only issue is slow energy cannon at back and the fact that capacity limit is exceeded using the OP missiles and the costs for the frame and boosters/generator. And the fact that I can't use O'brien's full name.

How does the Raven's WG2 feel?

Original white glint is a great example of a really solid design using a random assortment of parts.

I almost feel like From bumped the stats on all of those parts specifically to make the frame seem a bit OP when they're all combined.

What dlc is really worth it for verdict day? Is the repaint set good for 15 bucks, or should I just get the unac set instead?
>>
>>146317163
UNAC set and Background music DLC are both totally worth the money. The rest are just for style.

>>
>>146318042
Doesn't the unac dlc just add in prebuilt ones?
>>
>>146329029
Yeah but it also gives you more UNAC slots, so you can field up to three online (four if you run operator)
>>
>>146329265
Oh, even on story missions or not?
>>
>>146329345
Story missions are limited to just two ACs, so no.

Okay, so I got SCP in and it recognizes my controller. I think.
Maybe not since I'm not getting anything out of it. It doesn't work with PPSSPP, I can tell you that much.

>>
>>146343741
It recognizes your controller, but your controller is still connected to the PS3. Hit the reset button on the back of the controller (tiny little black hole/dot) and make sure the PS3 is turned off. Then connect, run SCP, hit the PS button.
>>
>>146344896
>and make sure the PS3 is turned off
Well, that'll just have to wait because I'm mercing.

I think you mean VD.

Man now this makes me curious on other 4 builds and just randomly adding shit.
>>
So I'm playing Nexus for the first time and I do believe I'm fucked. I wanted to try something different for the playthrough, so I went with a reverse-bipedal shotgun build for the sake of being experimental (if this is notorious shit, I apologize in advance. Just trying things). Things are fine until a point in the game where I get to choose the best way to fuck up my success/failure ratio: Go against an AC that turns out to be rank 1 with my underpowered little shit, get my underpowered little shit torn to bits in a powerplant with constant ECM pulses, or go against 2 ACs after taking a barrage of energy fire.
And naturally, I have to reset the emulator every time since Nexus makes you go through a hassle if you want to save and load.
Any advice? Or should I just start over?

How's your dodging game? Unequip all your weapons and nonessentials and go fight Genobee. It's a training exercise and if you can last long enough you win.
Or you can just fail either mission a couple times and progress.
>>
>>146351562
>how's your dodging game

Usually pretty good, when I'm not using KB+M(I usually use hover-legs). Unfortunately we have to play with the cards we're dealt with. So absolute shit as of now.

But I didn't know Genobee was survival challenge; I'll keep that in mind next time I give it another go. Thanks for the advice, anon.
>>
>>146349323
For Genobee be sure to get under him in order to dodge his explosives. Left and right won't cut it due to his FCS.
Watch out for that blade, though.
