It was originally about making factories, custom weapons, and a bunch of other shit to be used as weapons against the gods, by using guthix's essence.
Now div as a skill makes literally no sense, because it was designed with invention, the old one, exclusively in mind.

Falador has several districts, including a slum which doesn't exist in game.
I don't remember if the layout of varrock is described that much in them.
But for reference, the journey from varrock to morytania takes several weeks during the summer on animal (horse?)back. In winter it's impossible.
They may have done it on foot and just used a yak to carry shit though.

Hi /rsg/, I was planning on returning to RuneScape after I last played in 2005-2006 (Like, eighth grade in the US).
I have no doubt that the game has changed, but I'm kinda overwhelmed by the sheer amount of updates over the 10+ years I've been gone, so I have a little more specific question:
What is the "culture", or "meta" in the current game centered around? I think I mean, "what do players play towards?"
To explain I'm going to use some examples from when I was playing.
I reached quest cape status near the end of my previous experience. However, I never made a 99, because I was more focused on getting gold and hoarding rares for the inevitable time where I would quit (I didn't know I wouldn't be back for a while)
I remember that at the time before I quit because my mom and dad were transferred to a different base, there was a competition between Barrows equipment and Dragon equipment as to which one was stronger/better. So, most of the economy and goals for higher level players were reaching Barrows and Dragon equipment.
Sharks cost 1K each, and so fishing was an okay way to make money. Main moneymaking skills were woodcutting, fishing, and mining. That is, before I learned how to merchant.
Hunting was the newest skill at the time and merchanting items was the main way I made money, as well as killing green dragons for bones.
And how much are rares? I have two santa hats and a mask set. Sadly, never got to get a party hat.
