Hey /dsg/, just started a Gandalf cosplay. I need tips for PVE magic. farron dart blows and I feel like the game wants you to get fucked the first few areas if you even want to attempt to pure cast your way through.

What are some things that I can scoop up to make my time easier going through this until road of sacrifices when I can nab the merchant and give him scrolls?

Also, if any of you melee oriented people have any spare wizard gear or rings that you absolutely don't need I would vastly appreciate anything to get this build off the ground.

So how low can I go in terms of stability on my midshield before blocking becomes shit? Golden wing crest unupgraded has 50 stability and 100 physical, is it any good? If the best it can do is block washing pole pokes I'd be better off with the Llewlyn and/or going up to the Lothric Knight Shield.

It's fun. It's a musou, so it's pretty spammy, but one thing I like, despite how bad the framerate can get, is you can do local co op and each person gets their own screen. Really amazing for a musou when usually it's so fucking cramped on the tv.

This game and a few others makes me think the gamepad is a really good idea, but the wiiu just isn't strong enough for it.

Maybe 5 years from now the idea can be reattempted.

You want weapons that don't go past +3 and I have every ring you need... But not duplicates. So I'm keeping them. Honestly there's not a big difference between +1 rings and +3 rings and at lv 3 reinforcement there's only a few weapons that stand out. Hint hint they are all relatively easy to get. The only two rings they make. YUGE difference that are very hard to get are prisoners chain and hornet ring. Good luck with that.

Granted I haven't played much DS2 but daggers actually seem like they have a niche in that game.

I have a base dagger on my mage that i still use for backstabs and it does pretty good damage even then (300~).

This is CLEARLY how the game was designed to be played

Everything makes sense now

Encounters that feature fucking dogs aren't suddenly arbitrarily harder than everything else, mook swarms aren't nearly as bad, and yet bigger enemies are actually more dangerous because it seems that the poise disabling fixed the damage to just 'mid stagger' and 'knockdown' and removed all lighter AND heavier stagger. If you get smashed by a big weapon or even just a strong attack then you reel much, much harder, making it significantly harder to escape and allows some weirdly weak enemies to suddenly combo you where they couldn't before.

It makes me want to level VIT for fuck's sake.

People who were saying it'd break the game are full of shit. The poise brackets aren't nearly as fucked as the first game. Even with shitloads of heavy armour, you aren't tanking through a big, slow hit unless you're using the wolf ring, and it's actually EASIER to use heavy weapons now since you can trade hits without having to ultra-specifically time the hyper-armour and come out on top in damage.

Anyone who felt annoyed by the main game, play it again with poise on. It's this wonderful, sweet little surprise every time the mild, background salt of having to mash B to get away should happen.

I still got bodied in the three giant dude + dog room in High Wall due to being cocky and overconfident though. It just wasn't the dog that instafucked me.

I just did it with half a set of drakeblood's for a total of 18 poise. It takes quite a few light hits to break that poise, but when it does break it staggers you hard. Meanwhile one little shit with a broken sword staggered me right away with his big slow overhead stab.

20 poise is actually a lot in this game though. Most full heavier armour doesn't hit 30. Wolf's Ring only adds 10.
