Can I breed you?

So I cant pick which healer I like /xivg/ for dungeons. I know it doesnt matter much but I spend a lot of time there. The only one I have at 60 is AST. I like its cards for making people feel stronger but I cant help but feel it doesnt contribute as much personal DPS and the healing is a little situational. SCH probably gets more DPS in because of the fairy but most of its healing skills seem unnecessary or convoluted for 4 mans. WHM seems like the most efficient healing/DPS but I'm worried it'll get boring. Any advice?

Got DRG and MNK to 60. Both feel sort of weird. MNK seems spastic and kind of shitty, but more fluid.

While DRG feels a lot more static and clunky, but I don't feel like I'm playing DDR constantly. Which is better if I want to start getting into end game?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Monks personal dps does not outweigh what a DRG brings to a group (litany). ESPECIALLY if the monk makes any kind of mistake and their dps goes into the fucking shitter.

Don't let reddit fool you otherwise, monks are total dead weight when they aren't top dps, because you could have something else filling that spot, that either brings more group utility, OR is safer and easier to pull big numbers on (BLM).

But it really comes down to group comp, and the 100% ideal group comp right now does not involve a monk. Make of that what you will.

Rule of thumb for me is 1 oGCD just eat the delay with broil, 2 oGCDs use ruin2. Rouse is pretty leniant on the timing so you can probably pop it 5 seconds early or late if it will line up with dots. Most other oGCDs are important to get up right away though

How do I git gud with bard? Im still leveling him (currently lv42) but slowly it feels like I have to start to pay attention to his mechanics. For now I dont need one of this big ass guides, I just have a few questions:

Do I have to apply his dots to all monsters at pull and then focus on one?
Do I have to use his magic defense debuff as soon as I have a mage in my party for the rest of the dungeon (whenever possible at least)?
Are his dots stronger if I use a buff? If so, should I make use of it? Im not sure if its a loss in DPS if I waste 3 global cooldowns to apply dots.

I'm not talking actual hard content that requires you to -actually- think though, i'm talking like 4mans and faceroll content like aquapolis. All you have to do with sch there is sit in clerics and maybe cast adlo/physick once in a while wheras whm has to drop a regen/medica2/ and maybe asylum while also dpsing. I'm also just saying that i prefer whm personally. The cast/animations for aero 2 and 3 are neat to see, plus holy and stone 3 compared to "purple cloud fizzle #6"

I'm not sure what your last line is supposed to mean, but your filler skill heavy shot that you should be spamming when straight shot and dots are up, is over twice as weak as venomous and windbite.

at level 48 you get a skill that gives a chance to reset the CD on rain of death/bloodletter when a dot tick crits, so in dungeons you can basically spam aoe if you're dotting everything. the pure strength of dots becomes a lot more apparent at that level.

So basically around lv50 Bard starts to be an AOE machine much like summoner? I always feel like Im doing it wrong when I just throw out his dots and reapplying them while throwing out a few ogc. But since so far I have barely any single target skills it feels like this gives out the most DPS right now.

yeah, bard becomes really good at sustained aoe and a lot better at single target starting at level 48. you'd use bloodletter if only 1 target and RoD if it will hit two targets.

your personal buffs do apply to your dots, and your dots are your strongest attacks, so of course you should use them before applying dots. going off what the other post said about snapshots, if your buffs run out even a second after you apply your dots, the buff will still have effect on the dot for the entire duration.

but no, you're doing it completely right, as long as the dots are ticking for a bit. at level 48 when you get procs they can tick even fewer times and still be strong.

1) You DoT your targets as long as you know they will reach or exceed their breakpoints. If they die before then, you're wasting your DoTs.
2) You should play Foe Requiem even if the only caster in your party is a healer. Sometimes, healers find opportunities to DPS. The times you should use Foe Requiem are as follows:
a) For casters. Ideally, every three minutes because it lines up with their Raging Strikes and your Battle Voice.
b) Healers who you know are going to DPS.
c) DRKs who use their spells.
d) NINs who use their magic-aspected Ninjutsu (Raiton, Katon, anything other than Fuma Shuriken).
Ideally, Foe Requiem will be the song you will play the most. Sometimes, you may have to play Mage's Ballad or Army's Paeon if needed. The only time you shouldn't play Foe Requiem is if no one is going to make any decent use of it. Your MP at that point would be better off spent on Paeon for physical AoE upkeep.
3) DoTs snapshot with whatever buffs are up at the time, so yes. DoT damage can add up real quick when buffed.

Didnt know that NIN and DRK are worth it to use requim. So if both use their spells/Ninjutsus often enough it isnt a loss in DPS on the longer run? To me it sounds not that wise to sacrifice 10% of my DPS for a 10% boost for a Raiton that comes out every 20sec. But then again there is always a healer that probably throws out DPS as well and in best case the tank is a DRK, so I guess youre right.
