Yen is selfish and manipulative in spades. Well, with the exception of not caring about Geralt. She does truly love him, but that's only because of a genie's wish. She was trying to get megapowers from a genie through nefarious methods because of course she was, and it went horribly wrong and the genie was rampaging trying to get free of her grasp. Both of them, and a lot of townsfolk were going to die unless Geralt made a wish so the genie could be free. In the heat of the moment and women being his kryptonite, he wished for love between himself and the attractive harpy next to him. Yennefer does care a great deal for Geralt, but it's only because of a potent spell. I'm not sure she's capable of loving anyone except herself naturally.

Yennefer is simply a bad person. Triss is simply a great person. When the option is presented, I shall take it akin to "would you like a million dollars, or to be on fire?" Because that's what the choice is.

I think the best example of Triss's superiority was back in the prologue of TW1, when Geralt asks Vesemir if it's wise to keep a sorceress near their prized witcher mutation secrets since she could easily scry inside and see if she wished. Vesemir laughed it off and IIRC simply said "Triss would never do that." That's the difference. Triss has ethics.

Yes, she may fail to live up to them at times when it comes to Geralt, someone she's been in unrequited love with for years. No one is perfect. But she genuinely tries to be a good person and she genuinely cares about others.

Before the wish, Yen was openly contemptuous of Geralt. She manipulated him with a quasi-invisible bath scene (she was invisible but the soap on her wasn't, she he could make out her naked figure perfectly) and she was disgusted with him for falling for it. Then in the next few short stories after the The Last Wish, he's the most important thing in her life and she'd do anything for him. Yes, the genie totally cast a love spell. There's no maybe about it.

The fact that you can send Geralt off with a much better woman in this game shows it wasn't a forever spell.

Triss is really nice, kind, cares for Geralt and their relationship, she tries to pretend that she does not, but she is not really good at it. It is pretty clear that she truly loves him.

At the end of the white orchard --spoiler-- you can clearly see how Yen does not care, sure she says shes in hurry, but Geralt spent a lot of time searching for her and she is a real the whole game. She probably loves him as well, but not as much as before and she never really showed it the whole game
