just give up my man, it's not worth the effort. dragon, n'zoth, control, c'thun, they are all fucking trash. your best match ups are control warrior or n'zoth paladin and they are 55/45 at best, it's just not worth the hassle anymore. the class is fundamentally broken until the next expansion, we have no choice but to live with it. yes, some spergs like Zetalot manage to make it "work" but if you watch his stream it takes him half the month to get to dumpster legend where he then spends the next half grinding and grinding away and MAYBE making top 200 after literally 400 hours of playtime every month. there's a reason they call him Saltalot, wouldn't you be angry having to play Priest that fucking much in Shamanstone: Heroes of Garrosh?

so where do you go from here? your choices for classes are:

1) Shaman
2) Warrior
3) Warlock
4) Rogue

in that order. everything else is futile and not worth the grind in terms of making ladder progress.

Warrior and Warlock were viable since forever with little periods of mediocrity. Somehow Warrior shows the highest versatility of the decks despite it's hero power that helps very few of them. It can be only explained as a result of card quality and synergy. Shaman has received tons of good cards since BRM, so much in fact that it doesn't use many of them. They simply don't make the cut for high quality of the deck. Miracle rogue is the opposite of claimed design goal after old miracle nerf, yet it was intentionally buffed with cards like Tomb Villager that fit right in the deck.

Overall all these decks have very strong cards that show great internal synergy and consistency on top of that. We've seen their variations before WotOG and they will topple each other in tier 1 until something new happens.

Powerlevel of the class doesn't matter, it can still have overpowered cards like shaman and priests show. Your perception of right card design is flawed. If class is weak it's only natural to help it and it's sleeper OP cards would jump from unused to metashifting and abusive with class revival. And then you have to nerf the class as a whole because you released several broken cards that didn't have a chance to carry the class. All in all, everybody loses, other classes loses, meta and diversity loses, weak class loses in the long run if it's not Metzen's sweet baby like shaman.

I can't agree with people who cry "cancer" about strong decks and think weak classes with sleeper cards can't be hibernating cancer.

He's actually really good for new players with small collections, but a lot people get rekt because they hang their entire deck on one card. You need the second wing of LoE, but a deck building strategy that works with basically any class is:

Northshire Cleric, SW Pain, etc

>C'Thun Package
2 Beckoner, 2 Elder, 2 Disciple, C'Thun himself

>Battlecry Value Package
Brann Bronzebeard, 2 Jeweled Scarab, 2 Tomb Spider, 1 Young Brewmaster, fill in a reasonable curve with other cards like Razorfen Hunter, Dark Iron Dwarf, Defender of Argus, etc. Worth noting that Frostwolf Warlord and C'Thun both benefit from Brann.

All my C'Thun decks have at least one Shieldmasta, the 6/8 taunt, and the 3/6 C'Thun taunt. Depending on class and collection a lot of different things can sneak in here.

I understand there's a competitive deck that looks something like this, but for quest grinding in causal mode you can just use whatever you happen to have. Jizzing all over your opponent with C'Thun is fun, but think of it as plan B unless he's in your hand. You're generally favored in a long game so grind out value and trade away dudes.

what Priest needs is to be redefined as a class. They need to drop the dumb mind control/stealing shit which, from a WoW lore perspective, was only a characteristic of shadow priests, and move Priest toward being the value class.

They should function like the Protoss do in SC2. Their units are costly and slow, but they outvalue Terran and Zerg minions per mineral/gas spent and win games through sheer efficiency, rather than through raw numbers. Priest already has the tools to be a value class i.e. all their buffs, high health minions, and Hero Power but they can never move in that direction as long as shit like Mind Control and Entomb exists, it would be seriously over powered. Some mind control is okay, like the Cabal where it's very limited and costly, but it's not something that should have ever defined the class.

They need to be redone from the ground up, imo.

It is a really good card against warrior or in general decks that rely on 1 powerful minion. With a timely Doomsayer you have an effect like mirror image as mage, it delays a malkorok one turn etc. Your goal with this is to reach turn 8 with a farvored board state or tempo win and then go for call of the wild and win from there. It really makes sense and not only against aggro.

I don't think I'd like this at all.

On odd numbered turns you would, more often than not, expect some kind of weird minion being dropped on the board whose card text you'd have to deal with. On even numbered turns you would mostly expect big, vanilla fatties coming down to start dominating the board. A more interesting turn would be some combination of odd/even creature.

I think this would add a sort of bland repetition to the game that would get old really fast. I wouldn't want to associate turns with card text, I'd rather just associate them with commonly used minions or spells like it is now.

The issue with that is buffs are... generally bad. Priest has a lot of buffs, none of them are ever going to be played other than PW:S, and even that is honestly pretty borderline.

Right now, Priest is as far from being a value class as any in Hearthstone. They have almost no card that 2-for-1s, they are filled with situational cards, and they lack strong proactive plays.

I think shifting all of that, would be the wrong move as you are basically making Priest something like Druid. It makes the class too similar to another.

The best way for them to go forward with Priest would be to make it a class about 'Denial'. While I'm sure Brode & Co. are far too insistent on making sure my opponent feels good (he doesnt) while he loses, having Priest be the Prison class would make sense.

Cards that raise mana costs, cards that prevent minions from attacking, cards that prevent more than 1 card being played per turn, etc...

It's an archetype that is completely nonexistent and would allow Priest to leverage it's situationallness by locking your opponent out from doing anything other than playing into your removal/aoe/etc. Or you can just play lockpieces and then beat them with like Holy Champion and other midrange goodstuff creatures.

This is exactly what Brode is so vehemently against, though. He and his team have stated numerous times that they don't like disruption mechanics in Hearthstone which is probably why we never got, and never well get, a replacement for Loatheb in the future. Loatheb was pretty mild on the disruption end since it only lasted for a single turn so I never saw a problem with it and hopefully we get something like it down the road, however unlikely that may be.

I've never played Magic so maybe this is a deck archetype there, but holy shit this sounds like hell on Earth and if this were a thing then the mere sound of "vs Anduin!" would make me rage.

I don't know how to fix Priest, but something needs to be done in the next expac. At the very least just give them their OWN, RELIABLE WIN CONDITION. I think that's at least a good place to start fixing this mess.

There are multiple archetypes that involve 'locking' your opponent out from doing relevant things in Magic. They range from midrange/aggro decks that utilize creatures+low cost locks (sometimes both in 1) to beat their opponent down, to what are called Prison decks which slowly, slowly lock you out from doing anything ever... and then mill your deck or have some other way of eventually finishing the game.

The reason disruption is so important, is because it allows you to develop other interesting cards. If you never print disruption, you can never print Combo cards either.

If you have no Combo, you are likely to have every single metagame eventually devolve into a bunch of Midrange decks as threats are almost always going to be better than removal, and the flexibility of playing both aggressor and controller outweighs the benefits of both.

Just think. Would Gadgetzan, Leeroy, or Warsong have to be nerfed if there was a card that read 'Both players may only play 1 card each turn', 'All minions lose Charge upon being played' or 'All spells cost (2) more'. Probably not, as in the case of a Combo deck being too powerful, the disruption decks would become too popular for the Combo deck to be metadefining.

Your deck has an identity crisis. You are playing a tempo deck, yet you have double Equality and Pyro. Stand against Darkness is really bad in Standard where you can't combo it with Quartermaster. Double Kodo would probably the best for 5-drops unless you want a Harrison in there.

RagLite is again, not very sensical. You should be able to out-value Aggro decks by turn ~4-5, which is the only time his effect is going to be relevant. Regular Rag would simply do more for you.

Warhorse Trainer is terrible. Knife Juggler... again, doesn't do a whole lot. You don't have Creeper or Muster to combo off of him, I guess you do have SaD but that's really flimsy justification.

It's important to remember that Challenger should be a card that seals you the game, not a catch-up mechanism. I think probably running more low cost creatures and Steward would be the best bet. In that case you have enough reason to keep the SaDs. Probably up Keepers to x2, add a Rallying Blade.

It needs... a lot to be viable again. The basis of Handlock is generating massive swing turns thru a large hand filled with answers and 1-card win conditions. While using your health very aggressively as a resource.

Losing Voidcaller, Mal'Ganis, Molten Giant, Sludge Belcher, and Healbot makes that pretty much impossible. All you can really do is play t4 Mountain Giant, and then die.

It needs far more to be viable than I can see Blizzard giving it in the next set as the nerf to Molten was pretty much targeted at removing Handlock.
