There are a few elitist KF1 communities. There's a good chance that you'll stumble upon a few tryhards or elitists in EU servers as EU HoE servers are more alive than US ones atm. Just keep playing at EU HoE servers and someone will eventually notice. If not in for all that effort, just drop a steamID and I'll see what I can. Don't expect anything.

That memeing aside, I have actually thrown in my two cents into discussions, sometimes I got responses where they're pretty civil but a recent one that really stood out was "lol dude you only have 230 hours, you don't know what you're talking about" around the slinger update on the deal with permarage

I checked his profile, he had over 550 hours, he had no HoE map achievements but just happened to have all the "beat HoE as X perk"
I called him out on that and he got really defensive calling me a shitter even though I had all maps but farmhouse cleared at that time.

Ridiculous amounts of teleporting, resistances for practically every zed, knockback, and inflated health pools are not fair nor fun.
Why (I'm being rhetorical here, I know TW is too fucking lazy) is it so hard to just give enemies special attacks, increase zeds per wave, and encourage better aim?

Having resistances makes good aim worthless when your weapon won't kill a Stalker with a handful of headshots anyway.
Teleporting makes kiting pointless and encourages zerkwalling since that way you can just funnel zeds instead of having them pop into your face because you weren't camping.
Why give zeds increased HP pools instead of increasing the amount of them per wave, so you have more enemies to keep track of instead of a handful of enemies that sponge like no tomorrow?

Hell, change their pathfinding or give them more locations to spawn in and you'd fix zerkwalling and you could get rid of teleporting at the same time.
Of course, Tripwire is far too lazy and retarded for this and instead think MMO-tier resistances in a fucking horde shooter is a good idea. Surely needing to keep 50 different resistances in your head at all times is better proof of your skill at the game than being able to shoot, relocate, utilize combos and weapons, and working together? Nope, let's force "cooperation" so you NEED 1 perk for killing zed X, one for killing zed Y, and one for zed Z.

There is a very fine line between "the game challenges you and you get to use all your knowledge about it to have a good time" and "the game teleports YOU into the zed and your weapon gets tossed out of your hands."

I know I'm preaching to the choir here but resistances is probably the worst possible mechanic to encourage teamwork and to make people think "maybe my perk isn't made for this."
The game saying "you're using weapon X, so take this damage penalty simply because you don't have weapon Y" is the most retarded way of trying to convey the idea that some perks are better (and worse) against certain zeds.
You know what makes sense? Demolitions not being the best perk against Crawlers, because they are small targets that run by fast and if they get close they will start biting him and a direct hit from a Demo weapon will at best be inert and kill only one Crawler while the others still bite him or at worst he'll take a hit from his own explosion.
But no. Even if you're a really good Demo, suck TW's dick and take the damage penalty like a "man."

Any new player who looks at what it says to do to get XP will think that they should look out for crawlers because they'll level faster. I remember how I hated zerks chopped down every Husk at KF1 like it's nothing and Demolitions blasting away all the Stalkers away from Commando's sight, but that's no excuse to make an entire perk useless altogether at the next installment.

Resistances should not be a thing, with a few exceptions that have become common knowledge:
- Fleshpounds resisting everything except explosives (piercing, ehh, I dunno) which it is weak to
- Scrakes resisting explosives
- Husks being immune to fire
- Hans resisting poison

Everything else makes no fucking sense.
Why is the Crawler magically weak to SMGs but resists microwave?
Why are RPG impacts strong against Scrakes but not against anything else?
Why does the Stalker tank almost as hard as a Bloat but is magically weak to ARs?
Why does the Patty take x1 damage from hits to his head but x0.1 to his jaw?
None of it makes any sense and only alienates everyone but the most dedicated players who are willing to look these numbers up on a spreadsheet, and these players are ironically the ones who are the most opposed to the change.
They have nothing to gain out of making resistances like this. They even fucking made images showing what types of CC are best against what zeds, what zeds are weak and strong against, and what perks work best against what zeds.
Not only are they inaccurate, but they also show just how retarded the whole idea is. Are we trying to play a fun horde shooter or a competitive MMO crossbred with chess?

How are you supposed to know what zed has resistances against which gun? Even after reading the forum post I'm not sure because for all I know it could be wrong or out of date and even if it is right I have to remember all these figures while I play the game. The entire concept of zeds having resistances is stupid, the only exception is husks being resistant to fire because it's pretty logical that an enemy that uses fire will be resistant to fire.

This is basically TW's way of trying to force people to form diverse teams and force people to work together but because of how fast paced and chaotic the game is it won't work, you can't expect a commando to always be around to take a stalker off of a support or a SS.

I'm not so sure about this one, for a long time I don't think the average demo player knew that scrakes took half damage from explosives and there's nothing that indicates it and I'm not convinced that enough of them know now.

If they included a tooltip then maybe I could handle it. I agree with every thing else though, the entire concept is just unnecessary and convoluted, simply learning the resistances is a chore and actually dealing with it in game is an even bigger chore. They need to get rid of this system entirely as soon as possible if they value the health of the game

The XP system as it currently is shows massive flaws from the get-go, the example being how crawlers need to take like a whole can from the caulk just to kill. There's working for it, and there's just tying a mans hands behind his back and expecting him to do his job of lifting heavy objects while everyone else has freedom. The reward of it should be actually doing the job you were destined to do and helping the team, not punishing you and giving you peanuts for what you were destined to do.
But that's just one of many, medic gets next to nothing healing so they're better off tagging shit. Support welding doors would be okay but doors are worthless now. Sharpshooter and slinger get a whopping 1xp for landing their headshots, that BARELY puts them those who bodyshot, its not rewarding to those who can and punishing to those who can't hit heads. Demo isn't too bad, but fleshpounds are few and don't come until much later on. The only one who really gets it okay is mando because stalkers are plentiful, you can see them cloaked and they're weak as fuck to AR's.

Healing xp should reward you for chunks of HP recovered, healing the whole team from 10 HP to get the XP of killing two zeds is absolutely ridiculous.

Personally, I like the idea of there being some strategy to team composition, skill selection and weapon selection and we've gotten a lot of feedback over the last year that all the perks are too similar, the skill choices are always one-sided and that the tactics and combos aren't as complex as in KF1. The concept of certain perks being ideal to deal with certain threats and team work being the key to success sounds like classic co-op or team based shooter design I think it's a good goal. Medic+Berserker being the ultimate combo or a single perk with a certain loadout being being good at tackling every threat in the game isn't exactly thrilling game play and we're trying to improve that.

I think the system pairs really well with the new cumulative incap system and we'll just have to see what adjustments need to be made to keep the game fun and challenging as you go up through the difficulties. Save the serious resistances that require careful team coordination and perk selection to HoE and letting normal difficulty be an experience where 6 berserkers can run around playing whack-a-mole? Might be the solution. Add more weaknesses so each perk only has one nemesis ZED (like the Husk vs Firebug)? Maybe be that. We'll have to keep gathering feedback and see. If the community decides they want head popping simulator then I'm sure they'll make that desire known.

It takes like 3-4 nail guns hits to kill a crawler on SUICIDAL and bloats heads are as hard as scrakes, it takes like 5 hits to decapitate them both with sword and hammer, with all the damage perks selected.

Why don't they handle this in a natural authentic way by focusing on designing enemies that are difficult for some perks to handle?

As a demo getting grabbed by a clot or ambushed by stalkers/crawlers can kill you easily if you don't have a backup weapon, you don't need to give clots and crawlers resistances to force teams to keep trash off their demos. It's the same thing to SS to a lesser extent, they're not as good as clearly trash as a commando or firebug so if they get swarmed they're fucked

Why not make zeds play to their strengths instead of arbitrarily making zeds take less damage from certain guys because 'every perk has to has a nemesis zed and this one is it'. Fast zeds fuck up perks that have weapons with slow rates of fire and long reload times, zeds with high HP that do tons of damage fuck up perks that have low DPS. Expand on that instead of trying to turn the game into an RPG. I should have known tripwire would resort to doing stupid shit like this when they gave demos a perk that stops sirens from destroying their explosives, sirens were always meant to be a counter to demos and teams that don't use teamwork but they removed that element of the game for god knows what reason.

Husk vs Firebug makes sense because of the kits of both characters, firebugs uses fire based attacks, husks use fire based attacks, it's logical that they can't do shit to each other. What's the logic behind crawlers taking almost no damage from shotguns? What's the logic behind stalkers taking almost no damage from shotguns but a fuckload of damage from ARs? How's a new player supposed to know what their weapons are ineffective against?

It was bad enough that we didn't really have a counter for scrakes before SS came out besides burst DPS and pray that no one fucks up [unless you're hiding behind a zerkwall but that shit just makes the difficulty of the entire game trivial]

It's just occurred to me that this resistance system was likely put in place because it was too hard for TW to figure out how to differentiate the roles of the SWAT perk from Commando. Now that SMGs and assault rifles do different damage, they'll be played slightly different.

It's kinda dumb how convoluted they want trash clearing to be. They fucked up by making so many trash clearers to begin with. Zerker used to be able to take out literally anything, demo and firebug were the only things that were 'good' against FPs, there was no real answer for scrake apart from using the highest trash clearing DPS to take them down and then everything else was trash clearing.

They could have solved these problems by focusing on creating new zeds or trying to make perks more than just trash clearers.

They made too many perks fulfill the same role and now they're trying to clean up their mess with this terrible system. If tripwire had an once of creativity left in the company this resistance system would have never been created.

Only recently hit 20, so I need to play around with them more, but the ammo seems incredible.
Assassin is probably better because it gives you another incap since the zed time skills just give you a knockdown or stun multiplier, and not a guaranteed, unique incap like the medic stun.

With most of the custom maps fubar'd right now, I'm having a hard time tracking down this one map I remembered. Hopefully someone recognizes this.
The whole map was just bizarre, with a large, psychedelic central room full of over-sized neon plants and growths, a bloody sewage network that ran into a trippy tube-ride - this dumped you into the lower depths of the map that had a huge grinder, catwalks and an elevator shaft - a low-grav fan room, and a very long and narrow walk on the outside of the facility. It reminded me greatly of the insanity and scope of some KF1 customs.

Its not even a case of being angry at the game, though there is that effect.

Its the fact that someone who's played the game for a couple of hours, hasn't even gotten that far into it to see the glaring flaws because its the starting mode where nothing matters, and thinks he knows everything there is compared to people like us who've sat through it all from the release, know mechanics and taken on the highest levels.
I love this game for what its worth, but TW keep fucking it up and people here try to drum in the negatives to say "TW you fucked up, just listen to us and we can tell you how to fix this shit before you lose it all for good", so that the state of the game isn't a complete clusterfuck. Then when you got a bunch of new kids on the block saying "guys this is fine, idk whats wrong or why you're complaining" and they're barely experienced it, its banging out the wave of negatives and balancing it out so that TW will find these positive easier, and inflate their ego of thinking "we're really appealing to players"

Commando and people who knew the console commands for boss health could just say how much they have left.
Crosshair is a good reference point for people who get motion sickness from all the shaking.
KF1 had the arrow pointing to traders during the rounds so it's not any different, how else will you know which trader it is until trader time starts and you only have a minute to run to it?
Can't really defend the perk icons through walls, that just seems out of place and not needed.

Even though you can turn down the friendly hud scale it's impossible to read the text, and since the health bars are wide it still blocks a lot even when scaled down.

Don't regret my post or response in the slightest. I'm honestly still sorry to hear that the community doesn't seem to like the changes and attempted to give some context behind the changes. At that point it was about Midnight in our time zone and the beta had been out less than 24 hours so all of the changes were VERY fresh.

I'm a little more crass on SA because I've been there for 10+ years and that's kinda the nature of the community. Once the personal attacks started I peace'd the hell out of there because I wasn't willing to put up with the tone any more on my personal time. Message received, I don't need to have the same people call my colleagues stupid over and over again in order to enact feedback.

It's been less than 5 working days since the Beta came out, E3 is this week, and we've done 2 updates and some live balance changes since then. So, it's been busy and it'll probably continue to be busy as we continue to fix bugs and address feedback.

The resistances are absolutely pointless, why would you add more resistances than there are already in the game?
Fleshpound takes more damage with explosives, Scrakes less, Husks are immune to fire, Bloats take less damage to their belly.
That's literally what the game needs in resistances, no more.

A Crosshair is no different from putting a dry erase dot, transparent sticker, or 3rd party overlay on your monitor so it being an option in-game isn't the end of the world, it does make it easier for people who aren't autistic enough to know where the center of their screen is at all times but that's really nitpicking.
The boss health bar only gratifies the fact that bosses are bullet sponges and until they change colors you had no feedback if you're actually doing any damage or not unless a commando says something or using a console command, so how does a "boss health bar" make it easier for players when it was redundant from the start?

I preordered this shit and it's so far removed from the quality it had a year ago that it's astounding. I honestly enjoyed release with like 4 perks (two of which were shit) far more than this garbage they've got now.

Also, how do I play custom maps? There used to be a 50/50 chance when using quick play to get into a server with customs, and I can't use the regular server browser when I'm partying with friends.

Crosshairs remove an entire learning curve from the game for the people that use it, and then players are doing better than they should be, and you've now brought their teams and players in upper difficulties into the crossfire.
Health bars have a similar effect when bosses are taking less damage, and they also let players capitalize on a near-dead boss when they otherwise wouldn't have.
Bringing in the circumvention of these things by players isn't justification, either. That's just like Blizzard adding auction houses to Diablo because players traded on the black market, fucking retarded.

Crosshairs are fine. Hardly as powerful as you're making them out to be. I suspect the reason they added Crosshairs is because of zed movement speed compared to KF1.
KF1 had zeds move very slow, even on HoE, so their heads are very stable targets. KF2 has zeds move even faster(On top of this, they are also "overanimated" with zeds swinging heads back and forth). I've had many many occasions where bullets just slightly miss a head. I guess that's why they added the crosshair option.(Similar to why they made medic darts home in on players).

I think a lot of people complaining about crosshairs would not even care if KF1 also had crosshairs. Seems to be a lot of elitism around it. Though i will concede that crosshairs mostly nullify the laser of the M14.

Here's a question: Has KF2 had the most free weekends of any Steam game ever? Because it sure seems that way. I don't think I've ever seen a game get more than two free weekends, and even two is a huge rarity. And, even if it has happened, no game has had as many as KF2 has in such a short time span.

Tripwire is very obviously desperate to attract more people, because their game most likely doesn't sell on its own so they need to attract retards who will open their wallets at the sight of the pretty graphics of the game, and the gore and blood for the edgy ones, without consideration for the actual gameplay.

I do post here and no I haven't been banned. No bans, no warnings, I can't explain it.

When that huge banning sweep kicked off a while ago I figured out pretty quick that they were banning people for talking about MTs and for talking about moderation and bans, so I prudently avoided any reference to those things. Miraculously, it worked, while dozens of others were banned I wasn't.

Why am I still unbanned?
It would be nice if I was sanctioned opposition to make it look like the forums are still open to everyone, but I doubt TW are that smart tbqh.
The likely answer is that Yoshiro swept in to ban everyone, and then being the worthless incompetent that he is, promptly stopped and hasn't been around since (or has backed off because of the backlash).

I still ready to be banned at any time. I enjoy shitting all over retards on the forums, and since those retards are almost always attached to TW's cock while they sputter and rage at me, it's probably only a matter of time until I'm done in like everyone else. Until then, I will continue to enjoy having fun at the expense of others.

KF1 stuff I noticed was so much better when I started playing it again after uninstalling KF2's shitshow

The problem is when you're blocking, you're moving slower, and when you're moving slower, the FP is more likely to use one of its multi-hit combos and you're going to get slammed by all of them.

Best way I've found to minimize FP damage is to sprint backwards away from it, and when it gets close see what kind of attack it's about to do. If it's the lunge, I block, but if its any of the combos I continue sprinting and jump so that I'm less likely to get hit, and even if I do get hit the first hit knocks me far enough away to evade the rest of the strikes.

Just do it, it is truly the best perk, in accordance with God's will.
I've always been a happy Sharpshooter since KF1, so restoring my old perk in KF2 was easy and guilt free.

Fun and games aside, seriously now, if, and I mean IF, TW are going to fix these resists it's not going to be for at least another two weeks.
May as well have fun with the best perk while you can.
