How in the fuck does poise work in DSIII? I kinda just assumed it was dead once I put on full Havel's and could still get staggered by rats, but lately I'm noticing I can't stagger most opponents in PvP even after three or so attacks. Poise must exist in some form then, how do you get it to work?

So, I was thinking about Lore and maybe I've been thinking about it all wrong.

I've never really understood what "linking the fire" meant.

But I'm just starting to wonder if, before Gwyn linked the flame, maybe an age of Dark was never going to happen at all.

The First Flame would have died out, the gods would have faded... but fire in the rest of the world would have been unaffected. The sun, the bonfires, just fire in general would have been just fine. All that would have happened would be that the gods would fade into history.

When Gwyn linked the fire, he made all fire share the fate of the First Flame. Therefore, all fire in the world will die out to keep the First Flame alive, leading to an age of Dark.

Maybe this is why Kaathe woke Manus. As an agent of the Dark, he desires an Age of it, something that couldn't happen unless Gwyn linked the fire. By getting Manus revived, it let the gods and Gwyn fear the Dark and take desperate measures to prevent it from spreading, little knowing that they would set it up to become its own age.

I dunno, just something I thought about.

Is "descendant" meant to be literal in this situation? Could it be a descendant in a more spiritual sense that it stuck scales to its body to the point where the body has become what it is? Dragons are weird because they look almost nothing alike, which leads to a number of confusions I have about them; Seath and Kalameet look very different than what we see in the opening (even if you stick scales on Seath he still has no legs), and Sinh looks closer to those than they do. And while I'm not too certain about this, the dead one in the Dragon Memories is larger than any of them.

As far as I can tell from the Japanese item description, yes.

There seem to be three options when it comes to Dragons.
1: You have Everlasting Dragons, characterized by their four wings and fur. Dragons are elemental beings, and the element of the Everlasting Dragons is Stone.
2: Ancient Dragons. Kalameet, Sinh, the "true" Ancient Dragon in the memory, and the Archdragon's corpse all share certain similarities, with their two wings, four legs and hairless bodies. Keeping in mind the elemental nature of dragons, many of them display an affinity for Fire. It's possible that this kind of dragon only came into existence after the First Flame ushered the element of Fire into the world.
3: Drakes. Malformed or lesser offspring of dragons. Seath, called the "Paledrake" in later games, is not a true dragon, but a mutant born without scales and with tail-like protrusions instead of hind-legs. Most examples of drakes are Wyverns, but even snakes seem to be distantly related versions of drakes.

This is of course forgoing the two crossbreed half-dragons.

-Entire game is just DaS1 references and callbacks
-Level design, while better than 2, leaves a lot to be desired. Weak compared to DaS.

-Difficulty is non-existent.
-Bonfires everywhere, yes Souls games were never hard, but they were at least challenging. Bonfires being everywhere and bosses being a joke really take away that Souls feel.

Remember going through all of depths-blightown and finding that one bonfire tucked away by two red dogs? That was rewarding. Killing Wolnir getting a bonfire, then walking out his boss door to another bonfire, then crossing a bridge to another bonfire makes this game feel extremely silly.

Yeah yeah, muh opinions But the majority agrees that DaS3 is a weak game. Yes you can like it and have a different opinion. People still like DaS2, so there is no stopping you from like DaS3.

If you enjoy it, kudos to you. It's an okay game. Just not the game we wanted. We waited 7 years for a good sequel and it didn't deliver.
