You are not notified if someone scans you but if someone is yellow boxing you they could be cargo scanning, unless they have an auto target module, you won't even see them yellow box you.

Cargo scan is different from combat probbing.

If you are on a big ass ship you are easier to scan, if the scanning pilot has virtue set, LvL V skills for scanning and on a proteus he can scan you in 5 seconds easily.

You can try to drain manpower by making the war boring as fuck so nobody participates, but you're otherwise in a situation where both sides have infinite reserves. Alternatively, you just keep winning fights against one side until they get bored of losing and stop participating, but again, the manpower is effectively infinite.

Can you actually deny resources?

Isk is readily available via RMT both sanctioned and unsanctioned; let alone any in-game isk making methods via member taxation and things like moon mining. As well, there's little difficulty in buying any sort of necessary supplies - everyone uses the same supply pool gathered together largely in highsec. So nobody can ultimately deny any other side access to any material.

So if you can't kill the men, and you can't destroy their supplies, and isk can be magicked into existence, by what reasonable measures is it even possible to win a war? It seems to me that there is no actual winning - wars can only really be for the entertainment value.

You'd have to make highsec into lowsec, and then actively interdict trade routes and destroy stations, kill miners, etc.

And by doing this, you'd be strangling your own easy access to supplies.

At best you can restrict resource flow out of highsec, but that's basically impossible because of jump freighters, and ultimately even being 100% successful at it, you wouldn't completely cut off resources, just how far they're able to extend away from highsec.

The easiest way to find a good 1v1 is in gallente/caldari faction warfare lowsec with frigates in novice plexes. Make sure you use dscan a lot and once you narrow down a plex with someone in it warp to it and take the gate asap. If they were looking for a fight, they'll be there ready for you. If they weren't paying attention, you should be able to point them before they warp off.

Next day I found the ghost site that had those things and not wanting to risk it I instantly went back to the exit wormhole - which turned out to have collapsed. that's a broad question, do you mean investing in the parts/trading the structures themselves? do you mean putting one up? it's just like a POS (sans moon mining/reactions/etc.), a place to store your shit/dock/be safe. You can jump clones inside a citadel without any delay as well (as in you jump to a clone based in the citadel while you are docked inside it). I doubt you'd make a lot of money off of taxing a market or refining services since there are so many 0% ones around. If you just want to play house go ahead and buy one.
