Another great example, which I care about a lot because I'm a Knuxfag, was Dan Green's Knuckles. When Knuckles was written well, Dan played him well. When he's what written badly, I'm not saying he sabotaged the character, but it felt like he phoned it in. Sadly, besides Zero Gravity, the best Knuckles was written during Dan Green's tenure was the two times he wasn't actually Knuckles.

The current Knuckles situation also bums me out because I really like Travis Willingham but I'm afraid he'll never get to play a well-written mainline Knuckles. His voice for Knux could be a good middle between Dan Green and Scott Drier, but he only gets Boom Knuckles (who is amusing but isn't the same as regular Knuckles), or badly written dumb comic relief mainline Knuckles, who is as dumb as Boom Knuckles but barely ever appears and isn't as fun because he's not supposed to be that stupid.

The whole point of the Sonic vs Shadow battle in Generations was that they needed the Energy Cores in order to gain the upper hand.

In Sonic 2 and later on, Tails' Flying allowed him to catch up with Sonic, no matter how fast Sonic was going. Tails' Flight speed has always been second only to Sonic's running speed.

Tails was created to be Sonic's Sidekick. The kind of Sidekick that creates a "Mentor/Apprentice" kind of thing with the Hero, along with the Big Bro, Little Bro thing. Anyways, the Mentor-Apprentice thing means that the Sidekick role is meant to be like Robin to Batman, or Kid Flash to the Flash. A character with abilities and skills that are extremely similar enough to the Hero's, with a slight difference. For Tails, that means he has the ability to Fly where Sonic has incredible Speed. That Flight allows Tails to mimick Sonic's abilities, which allows Tails to function pretty much as a Sonic clone in Sonic 2. In Addition, Tails has his intelligence and technological skill because he is also meant to be able to FLY the Tornado.

But anyways, Tails is meant to be the kind of Sidekick that shares the Hero's signature abilities with a slight difference that makes him unique and allows him to support the Hero.

You know, I don't actually mind Tails being connected to the special zone. In fact, it's completly possible that it could be written in somehow.

For example, Tails was feist 2.0 before the events of genesis wave. Making sure no one gets their mits on the stored Emeralds or Rings and cause undue damage. And his connection to the Rings could explain his immortality.

The Tails Doll fragment could be written in at the same time, giving it a birthplace of some kind that isn't memes
