It barely even has any roleplaying. You're forced into a role and your only roleplaying options are choosing from misleading dialogue options that let you choose one evil from two. Atlus RPGs have more roleplaying, and that's what WRPGs were supposed to excel at before they decided to become cinematic action games.

Gameplay wise, it also plays the same no matter how you develop Geralt, whereas in good roleplaying games your character is capable of different things and plays totally differently based on your build.

I don't remember fans disliking the main story. Everyone I heard loved it. I thought it was really well paced and had some charming beats in it, especially if you balanced it out with the side quests and witcher contracts. Those contracts were great, too, it really felt like you were some superhuman detective and immersed me in being Geralt really well.

I have the same amount of time in each game (~200 hours) and only MGSV got boring because after you've beaten the game every side op is the same thing over again and FOBs get pretty stale too. I think we can just chalk this up to your personal opinion of hack n slash vs 3rd person shooters.

For the most part women only stream stream-bait games.

Those include very simple, easy to pick up games like first person shooters, and games where they can sit around doing nothing for long periods of time like MMOs. These genres allow them to casually camwhore. They also play simplistic hide and seek horror games (not the kind they made 15 years ago, but stuff like Amnesia) which allow them to get scared and appeal to beta orbiters who will then throw money at them.

You obviously have exceptions but the vast majority of female streamers are just attention whores and don't even really care about videogames.

P4 is easier, simpler, and simultaneously has better pacing and worse pacing. On one hand something big is happening at all times, there's very little downtime, but on the other hand you may find yourself playing for five hours without any combat and then doing an entire dungeon in a single in-game day.

It is for me. I prefer P3's system where through the tired mechanic and the nature of Tartarus as more of a grinding area than a dungeon, you are recommended to spend maybe one day a week or so in Tartarus rather than blowing through it all in one day. There's a balance between school life and JRPG hero life.

In P4 you spend five or more hours social linking and then feel forced to rush through the dungeon in one day because every day you spend in the tv world is a day that could have been spent doing something else. It's also more aggressively timed than Tartarus.

Some people may prefer the P4 format though.

Not really. The murders and dungeons in P4 built on one another, and followed a pretty streamlined storyline. And in P3, the dungeons and moon bosses also were related; the entire game, you knew you were supposed to beat all of the moon bosses to eventually, hopefully, end the Dark Hour.

With P5, each of the "episodes" will be stand-alone and fully resolved. We'll probably get new information on a boss or the overall plot each time, but they won't have anything to do with the individual cases until the end.

Think of it like a short story collection centering on the summer a group of friends have together. Each short story might be a thing they did that summer, and only that thing (a beach trip, a board game day, etc.) and the final story might be them reminiscing or something.

So, in preparation for the Japanese release, is there a guide that translates general megaten terminology from runes? I'm confident I can discern the story from my limited nip knowledge, but I don't want to fuck up my personas and get my ass handed to me because I can't read runes.

I really hope so; 3 and 4 were bad with that and unless I was going out of my way, using Naoto, for example, just never made as much sense assuming Yu and the rest of the team I chose was well rounded enough (which is a shame, because Naoto is best girl).

It doesn't help that you only have a set number of actions per day, and so spending time in the last third of the game just to build up one character or get rid of one you've used for a while isn't worth it.

It seems like Generic-kun is the final character we'll get - the order might be (after the initial 3) Yusuke - Sakura - Makoto - Haru - Generic-kun
