I think it would be possible if you made them behave like horses, so you would recruit cannoneer troops and they could "mount" or "dismount" the cannons to fight independently. You would have to give them a new AI like 1257 does with it's horse archers and of course new animations, models and whatnot.

Made an ACOK minimod, now featuring upstab anon's upstab and weapons. Try it out if you like fun.

Changes:

-greater troop variety
-greater bandit variety
-faction supporting bandit spawns: Brave Companions, Crannogmen make a return, the Brotherhood Without Banners
-Essos armies will have sellswords in addition to their homegrown troops
-Tweaked Westerosi armies a bit, tweaked Essos a lot
-Throwing weapons made more viable
-added new items and brought back a few that were removed
-flaming swords for upgraded red priests and pic related
-redundant troops such as singers or peasants can now be upgraded
-music made less repetitive (optional but recommended)
-made some eligible noblewomen into little girls because my roommate likes that stuff
-King's Landing garrison buffed to reduce chance of peace b/w Westerlands and North
-Dragonstone buffed
-Iron Islands buffed
-mounted units buffed (not to OP levels, but there was no excuse for 1 power strike Hedge Knights considering their cost)
-buffed the wildfire
-and much more

Well their armour and weapons seem to be pretty shitty (I'm rebalancing a lot of stuff to match TT closer myself) but in terms of physical/brute strength and ability to shrug off pain they are generally sturdier than most elves or men. Not Orc-tier, though.

I'm having the roughest time in Native single player.

All the units I recruit die to desert bandits with barely a fight. There's no good resources to trade in the Sarranid area. I can barely stay alive myself, because of all the couched lances from desert bandits. If I try to do the mercenary thing, they just keep going to war with Swadia and Khergits - both of which kick the teeth in of the Sarranids.

Any tips for a horrible player?

there was an anon that was editing it to work ever so slightly but i dont remember the last time i saw an update on it. the base mod where it is is sort of playable if you just want to, its actually kind of fun to pick up all the companions and just run around with your squad of turbo murder hobos that are mostly unkillable. the maine issue with it is still the fact that you literally cant win and that the army stacks are so large that you have to fight like fifteen battles when you clash. i actually like it a lot every now and again.
