As someone who has both received unwanted physical touching and inappropriate words while cosplaying and been with female friends cosplaying who have received the same, I am very glad to hear how serious the head of this con took these matters.

I'm a bit of an asshole when it comes to this stuff having gone through shit myself as far as getting my junk grabbed or having someone slide their hand between my buttcheeks. In regards to the guy arguing he didn't need her consent to take a photograph he is correct from a legal standpoint any public venue (I'm assuming this is a public venue based on the description and that the owner of the event center did not explicitly ask people not to take photographs) or publicly open location like that the law is on the photographers side there is no need to get the consent of any individual for photography at a public event.

The issue of taking pictures of cosplayers in public is a tricky thing for me that I go back and forth on. On the one had, asking for permission to take their photo is a common courtesy that absolutely should be exercised. On the other hand it is a public place, and I personally don't know a single cosplayer who doesn't want to get their picture taken when they're in cosplay. And then there are situations where it's kind of implied that it's okay to take a picture and permission isn't necessar like, for example, if you stop to pose for a picture for someone and a few other people walk up to take photos - because you're already in a photo-taking pose in a public area.

In general though, just ask permission and don't be a creep. It makes things easier.

Yeah, it's really unfortunate that creepy weirdos exist. Especially when they are a part of or exist within the realm of your favorite hobby / hobbies. I'm hoping more can be done to counteract stuff like this. It's really sad that it's almost looking like professional cosplayers (or just cosplayers in general) practically need bodyguards to ensure that they aren't treated poorly and are comfortable the entire time. My sister told me similar stories when she became a voice actress several years ago and began going to conventions as a guest. People frequently followed her, verbally harassed her, tried locating her hotel room, or just straight up sat outside of it. I'm sure over the years the situations climbed and/or maybe became even more frequent. But she talked about it less and less as time went on, almost like she was expecting stuff like that to happen, or that it was just the nature of the beast so to speak. It's just really unfortunate that these kind of things happen. No one should have to endure behavior like this by any means.

And many of the worst people are those running the conventions or events. I know 4 guys who go after underage girls(This doesn't even include the amount of sexual harassers) and not a single one of them ever had any punishment received. It's been the exact opposite where it falls upon deaf ears. These involve people who run big events, to DJs, to security at cons. To people who think more security will solve this: it won't. There are many reasons for this, but the two perhaps most significant are scale and investment. There are simply too many people milling around and unless the community around the convention in general attempts to crack down and fix the problem, it's unlikely to go away or diminish. Excising the bad from the good here is only going to come from social pressure when it's a large, public event. Ensuring people are invested in getting rid of sexual harassment at the event means behavior improves due to worrying about what the community thinks, rather than what one person you've never met before thinks. At the same time, having safe spaces where there is some form of 24/7 support is also vital to improving the feeling of safety, though how it manifests is also important to the character of the community. To improve how people feel about an event they need to know there is support for them, preferably at an individual level, but if not there, then at a community level. Do the tutorial then go to missions, then go to character trials after that unless you are dying to mess around with a specific character in which case do trials before missions.

Missions teaches a lot of stuff that is practical to understanding situations that will actually occur in a match outside of combos

then once you've done all that you can start watching match videos and picking up optimized/character specific combos and getting an understanding of what the pressure and mixup situations look like

She's super fast, has good pressure up close and has a lot of ways to crank up the RISC gauge, and her mixup off a knockdown is decent (j.2K RC, IAD crossup DP)

Her main problem is that she can convert ground combos into a knockdown, but any air hits cant confirm into a hard knockdown unless you have a card. She's also outranged by everyone else in the cast, so getting in is a struggle. Also even with cards, her combos don't do too much damage.
