If I use an agent to destroy a building in an enemy town, let's say Walls, or the "Town" Structure itself or a Garrison upgrade, does that remove the Garrison as well or damage them?
Some of these early cities as Empire are ridiculously hardened, and usually a 20 stack squats in them forever. I'd like to take Wissenland early on, but I don't know how I'll deal with them with one army.
My other one is busy with Marienburg shits atm.

Happened to me in my Empire playthrough. Karak Hirn or Izor declared on the Grudgebearer (or the other way around), and we naturally sided with Thorgrim. About 3 turns later, after we razed half their settlements to ash, they suddenly became Dwarf settlements and my diplomatic relations took a massive hit. Had to pay that old jew 2K a turn for the next 30 turns or so to stop relations going into the negative. (this was after we'd wiped out Norsca and Chaos)

Campaign wise, VC is really fucking easy, just tedious. Empire probably has a harder time in campaign. In multiplayer battles, Chaos is the weakest, and Empire is the strongest.

They're pretty much just overpriced and less versatile than the other races. Chosen are great, but almost never worth it for 1500 a pop. Chaos warriors tend to pale in comparison to grave guard, or great swordsmen, not to mention black orcs. Forsaken and chaos spawn are pretty good, but "pretty good" doesn't cut it against turtling dwarves, rush-snipe greenskins, even the knights of bretonnia mess them the fuck up. They're actually ok against VC, but VC has way more tools to deal with other races than them.

Just grab Tribes of Chaos and sack everything, only raze if you want to destroy the faction.
I like to rush Chaos Warshrine with maybe the cannon building to avoid sieging for a turn, or alternatively the reduction upkeep building. If you upgrade that reduction upkeep building and have two Exalted Heroes with Exemplar close by, you can pretty much recruit rank 9 units at any time, which is helpful since you'll be doing a lot of merging and re-recruiting.

No matter how big and bad those forces are I doubt they match 8 steam tanks. Going by their performance in battle when I've used them against VC, one steam tank is equivalent to about 1000 zombies, and that is without the ward save buff. Add the demi-gryphs on top of that and your stack is more like the equivalent of 4 stacks

Well for starters the AI did better against Skaelings and Vargs, so that's always a plus. Only downside with the mod was that the max limit of a garrison is of course 20, which meant that some lower tier units ended up pushing out high tier units from the garrison.
There are only two mods left that I know of that reworks garrisons, but they're only for dorfs and empire, and the rest hasn't been done yet.

I did exactly that, and both Bretonnia and One of the dwarfen factions declared on me. I managed to pay them both off though, but If I didn't have the money the dwarfs would have fucked me up while I was fighting Marienburg. I'm sure more factions would have declared war if I didn't secure all the NAPs I could manage.

Well, I'm playing on Medium and some spells are still shit. Like the entire Lore of Metal. I mean, holy shit. Final Transformation is pretty good though against lategame troops like greatswords and chosen, but every spell besides that is terrible. The buffs and hexes need to be AoE for them to be any good.

It's a really bad indicator which causes three different problems
1. It's simply not worth fighting autoresolve stomps unless you have a lot of Lords/Monsters (autoresolve always does loads of damage to these)
2. The player is told that they have no chance in battles that are actually pretty close, this encourages you to flee when you could win
3. The ai won't attack unless it wins on autoresolve/has no other choice so you get a lot of chasing them down. The ai will choose to starve to death in a siege (giving the player a 90% chance of win) rather than sallying out and fighting with the player having a 60% chance of a win.

I'm replaying Medieval 2 and I've started asking myself something about sieges: with multi-level fortresses, why even bother with defending the first line of defense? It gives you zero advantages and a lot of penalties. You'll lose a lot of men fighting the enemy where they are strongest. If you just put all of your men on the last line of defense, the enemy is weaker (they can't bring their siege towers, for one) while you are stronger (a lot more men to defend a smaller area).
So why even bother with the first walls when you can just throw everything on the inner walls and wait for the enemy to come to you (assuming they don't bug out)?

Their morale is straight garbage, and their heavily reliant on just swarming the enemy with cheap rat bodies while the tech and monsters do the heavy lifting. Only elite rats called Stormvermin are any good in a real fight.

Magic is only worth it if you play with small or medium unit sizes. On small, Mannfred one-shots all lords with Spirit Leech and the Bright Wizard's flame tornado can wipe out entire armies.

I don't know what the hell could replace it, but having armies limited by an arbitrary number of unit cards is starting to suck ass. As much as I love Total War the lack of competition really makes it not innovate at all, so many things are still the exact same from fucking Rome 1 and don't you give me the bullshit of it being a perfect system that can't be improved.
Building armies is just a bit boring, you pick out some generic stack of nothing but the most efficient elites available (unless your in early game or cheesing auto-resolve) because anything else would waste the precious slots.

Home region movement mod isn't cheating, it just stops the AI from cheating when there's a stack of Orcs and you can never catch up to them as Empire even with route marcher and advisors to help.
The mod that adds units isn't cheating because all the units are recruited regionally, require special buildings and more importantly aren't direct upgrades. If anything it helps the AI since it gives Tilea a bunch of elite units.

Hmm... I think there should be some sort of limit to how many units you can have in an army. For one it makes it easier to gauge enemy strength at a glance. When a full stack moves into your territory you know that it has 20 units and that you would need to move a full stack of your units to have a chance of defending. If there wasn't a limit than you would always need to examine the enemy army to see just how many units there are. Also, AI doesn't need to worry about things like upkeep and they always try to keep their stacks at full it seems. If there was no limit to the number of units per stack than they would have to come up with a way of having the AI not fielding armies that completely overpower what the player is able to field. I realize this still happens when the AI sends several stacks at the player, but there are still ways to engage those stacks selectively to improve your odds.
Anyway my point is having some sort of limit is a good thing. If they were to make a different system, I might think that perhaps they could increase the unit card cap to whatever technical limitations allow (seems to be 40 v 40 on the battlefield) and to give each unit a relative strength rating. As you add units to your army the bar would fill and once it reached a certain point that army would be full. So you could have, say 20 super elite units, or up to 40 mid tier units, or perhaps 25-30 unit mix of mid, high and elite units. That way there would be variety in your army depending on how you optimize and you would still be able to count on a comparable level of strength when two full size armies encounter eachother
