I guess you make a good point, many offensive ults feel kind of brainless at times, but I think a lot of them are centered around positioning and timing that they're okay, especially Pharah. Lucio and Mercy just feel like easymode game changers that just require you to be near your team with no real thought or strategy behind them, and they are both such impactful ults. Sound Barrier carries offensive pushes and Mercy's ult can literally undo the work of the enemy team's ult comboing during a team fight. They're both a little annoying, but Mercy's particularly irritates me because when used on defense it just slows the game down imo.

As for Sonic Barrier, I like it conceptually. If the numbers are balanced or not is another manner (it is very strong right now), but I think mechanically at least it's fine. Hell, part of why I like it is because I primarily to shut down the bullshit ultimates.

Exactly. A cast time is so desperately needed for her. Lucio has a small window where you can kill him, as do most heroes. But Mercy has literally no window to be interrupted. Q, then people are rezzed, no questions asked. It's pretty obnoxious imo. You can see the bitch fly in but if you don't deal 200 damage before she gets in range, which is really difficult, then she gets the rez off.

Sonic Barrier isn't all bad, yeah. Encourages team coordination and all, and breaks stalemates well. I do wish it was a little bit less good maybe, but it's in a good place.

She's not as easy to shut down as people claim (an interesting aspect to her survivability is that guardian angel pulls her past her teammates. Rocket jumps are not the good kind of skill. It's a completley meaningless and arbitrary barrier of entry. Yeah it's hard to master, but is being able to rocket jump the skill that should truly separate bad soldiers from good soldiers? Because I would argue that being able to actually land your rockets, and knowing when and where to fight should determine skill. TF2s characters are all so homogenized that Demo and Soldier are like the only characters who see play. The game is stat-check central and those two are the only ones who bring anything new to the table.
