Where is the disadvantage, though? The top three can still easily reach the levels they need (especially Camilla with her busted XP gain rates) while Selena/Niles still have plenty of room to snag kills. The only map Selena can struggle to kill on is 23, aside from that more or less every map has units who she can fight effectively. And thanks to how XP gain works in Fates, she's getting lots of XP for each one.

Birthright is basically Awakening 2.0. If you play Conquest first, you're going to be spoiled by its superior gameplay and Birthright will feel like a slog in comparison. So, if you're going to be playing both, definitely play Birthright first, or else just play Conquest and don't bother.

Yep. Just play Conquest and don't even bother with the other two. Birthrout has its good moments but lategame is pretty much "throw your stupidly broken oldest brother along with his pair-up slut out to murder all of the seemingly-endless reinforcement". Revelations have weird map gimmicks that are pretty much universally deemed to be shitty and sluggish, plus unit balance is absolutely terrible. They both have grinding and encourage a very degenerate kind of playstyle that kills the strategic elements of the genre too so yeah.

In terms of characters, most people prefer the Nohrians though they can sometimes come off as relying too much on their individual gimmicks and quirks. Though Hoshidans are generally pretty boring to most people bar a few notable individuals.

If you're going to play Conquest though, pick a Hoshidan class that'd benefit both you and more importantly, your spouse, as a talent.
