I think it actually puts a pretty good perspective on how Sith and Jedi do things.

Jedi have to earn their power and build their lightsabers as a rite of passage.

The Sith Warrior takes his lightsaber because Sith don't earn power; they take it.

It's actually one of the neater things, and it shows how they both view the Force. The Jedi work with the Force, the Sith bend the Force to their will.

Just a thought.

It's like playing WoW and not caring for the RTS trilogy, you might miss part of the story (mainly because it's a parody of typical JRPGs) but in the end the gameplay is good if you're in it for that.
