I can't see summon signs, get invaded, summon people or invade.

I'm not banned, no messages on the startup screen, I'm embered, no password and I even reversed the hollowing just to be sure.

As you can see, no summons signs, I saw them untill Carthus but aftewards, nothing.

Could someone PLEASE explain parrying at high levels to me?

I mean I'm trying to practice parrying in SL120 pontiff duels, even using the scumbag caestus... and I just can't parry shit. No one falls for it, and most times they'll just use a fucking 2H ultra weapon or some unparriable weapon art shit on you. Then you throw in figuring out the different delayed timings of different weapons and lagg and... yeah.

I mean is there actually a method to the madness here? Or is it literally just a matter of "oh yeah you can only parry against lower level people who are bad at the game and R1 spam you with a longsword"? I'm questioning why I should even bother at this point, dual wielding a fast offhand-weapon seems far more useful, hell even a fucking black knight shield for blocking.

I'm asking how do actually do this shit consistently at SL120, if it's even possible. Literally no one will R1 spam you when they see the parry tool come out it seems, they'll just play around it endlessly until you're dead.

What if we moved demon's souls discussion to bbg and kept only dark souls discussion here? It's not like anyone posts about kf any more and those are ps exclusives

Also note that the fact that someone is playing around your parries is an advantage as well. If they roll and delay the roll attack since they think you'll parry it, just hit them in the face instead. Do that a couple times and they'll think you won't parry, so next time do. All about the mixups my man. Being unpredictable is the key to avoiding parries, and also the key to landing them.

The first parry of every match is the most important one because it can actually be a surprise depending on how you do it.

Like you said, lag makes things really difficult but not impossible. Just focus on learning every weapons moveset and it will be a lot easier to say, call someone's rolling/running r1 for example.

Parrying online is entirely about prediction, not reaction on all but the best connections. If you approach it with that mindset it becomes easier.

Besides, let's take two hypothetical scenarios.

There's an art to using say, a BK Shield as well. Similar to parrying, but a lot more consistent (mostly having to do with incorporating rolling/dodging to reduce the number of attacks you have to tank, and stamina management in general. Mostly a bunch of subtleties having to do with stamina management).

I use one when I play with the Drang Hammers most of the time and I'd be happy to let you wail on me, get you into a comfortable position that's close enough for me to unleash the fury. Also everyone becomes so afraid of the skill that they don't realize how hard one or two 1H R1's of the thing can be.

I just think an offhand rapier or BK shield is far more effective (and more importantly, consistent) than parrying in this game. At high levels, at least. If you're doing SL69 invasions then sure parry away, but in SL100-120 duels? Forget it.

Everything but axes (with the exception of thrall axe), katanas (with the exception of washing pole), daggers (with the exception of greatknife) is viable in pvp.
Top tiers are estoc, red hilted halberd (and halberds/glaives in general), carthus curved sword and washing pole.

Those 3 DLCs combined saved DaS2 from mediocrity and combine to form almost triple the content of the other two games' dlcs.

Old Hunters is a close second because it literally doubled the number of weapons available to the player in a game whose biggest drawback was not having enough weapon options, and finally gave Arcane viable offensive tools. Also, Ludwig is easily the best boss in the entire series, though the other 3 aren't nearly up to the same standard.

AotA is really, really weak on content and the areas aren't great. It's carried by its bossfights, which are admittedly excellent.

The mechanics of Laurence's fight aren't necessarily the greatest problem I have with it, but they are poorly thought out. The decision to give him AOE's on a large portion of attacks after phase 2 is frustrating because it doesn't mesh well with beast bosses repetitive swipes, in the case of Laurence, his attacks already do large portions of damage, and dodging the aoe's can be annoying with the instability mechanic. The phase 3 of the fight is visually more interesting and less reiterative of the cleric beast, and yet it's still annoying because of the way the game expects you to dodge the aoe's in a rhythm, should mis time a step or get camera blocked by something, you have to re-adjust to the aoe rhythm, and when you are up-close this is somewhat difficult, it's very tedious. This all combined with the decision to give him an absolutely gargantuan amount of health screams from software simply decided to shove in an extra, hard boss without giving it the attention or care of ludwig or Orphan.

But my main complaints comes down to the reskin of cleric beast on such an important central story figure, I can tell that this came from them combining the two dlc's together, with Laurence probably being something they never fully realised.

The Old Hunters.
It does a great job at fleshing out the world and characters.
Maria and Ludwig will probably stay as my most memorable encounters in video games for a long time and I love the entire nightmarish, regretful, melancholic atmosphere.
Content wise it also introduced some of my favourite weapons and actually useful magic, and the actual areas you go through provide challenge.
It also has hands down best soundtrack of anything Souls.
