Never really liked Sakura. She just was there but had nothing noteworthy to add. No skills, no interesting gimmick, nothing. She honestly could not exist in part 1, and nothing in narrative whould have changed.
Also I never understood the appeal of Sasuke as a character. He was just... bland. Shino and Kiba had less screentime and still managed to be more interesting than him (conceptwise at least).

This is not a winning scenario for Sasuke. Especially since that he'd be in immense pain when the Seal activates because he'd be critically low on chakra due to bugs.

Although the alternative is the bugs simply drain his normal chakra until he either drops unconscious or draws on the Cursed Seal, which - since there no normal chakra to swap with - just causes immense pain to the point where Shino could safely fight defensively until Sasuke just drops.

Even in the battle at the Valley of the End when he goes Level 2 he wasn't drained of chakra, and so was able to sustain L2 without crazy pain.

With the way it was presented in the series I agree. However, I blame it on the author and editors who took the "Idiot Hero" aspect of the character up to eleven. He was smart, the first battle with Zabuza showed that he could come up with the plan on the fly. Actual sight? She WAS capable of seeing shit ten kilometres away, and seeing the enemy's chakra network is useful as ever, if the user's own powerlevel, strength and speed are up to snuff.
And it makes for a much better power in terms of character-writing tool. It informs the character, gives some neat backstory possibilities, plus a nice moveset that's largely dependent on how good the person using it is.

The Sharingan just has forty seven different kekkei genkai powers packaged into one, one of them being an ability to pull off whatever the fuck the writer needs the bastard using it that makes the plot forward.
It is overpowered shit that takes over everything about a character and switches them all for more eyeball power wankery.

But in-universe besides sight it is clearly far more powerful than the Byakugan. I suppose it should be offset by all Hyuuga we've seen having it, as opposed to supposedly small numbers of the Uchiha having even the basic variant, but that is hard to keep in mind when pretty much every named Uchiha we do see does happen to have them.

If the Byakugan user was fast enough, they could beat the Sharingan's tracking and movement prediction and shut down the Uchiha's Tenketsu. That's a long stretch, though.

Best bet would honestly be to create a Shadow Clone and double-team the Uchiha, the way Tobirama INTENDED the jutsu to be used.

Rock Lee. He should get far more screen time, considering Six Gates is nothing to fucking sneer at by anyone less than S-rank missing-nins.

Kiba. Stronger than Naruto in the Chuunin Exams, Fang Over Fang clearly has incredible armour piercing capabilities, rarely used.

Kakashi. Not background, but his entire skillset as of Shippuden is 'Chidori plus Kamui'. Admittedly, they're both GOOD techniques, but he's the man who copied a thousand, not the man who was handed one and invented one other.

Ino never became a full-fledged mind violator and that is a terrible shame.

Arguably Naruto, if Jiraiya's training wasn't hand waved away as him learning the basics. That swamp jutsu, more summoning, sealing, that hair tech, elemental training or even an early start at Sage Mode could be feasible. Instead he opted for a weak and unreliable Jinchuuriki cloak that was discarded after one use and a slightly bigger Rasengan.

Alright. So. This will be done off memory because I can't be fucked reading the message logs from like two weeks ago.

Where you left off, Renya wanted to head back to Konoha and report to Naruto about what they found. Fugetsu wanted to press on down the path and explore a bit more. Renya caved, and the group wandered down the path, trying to remain stealthy. They reached a clearing near a cave entrance and, oh shit, turns out there's like a dozen Jounin and Chuunin waiting in the trees for them. For once, Renya doesn't mouth off - probably because he was on like 1 or 2HP and was essentially dead on his feet. The group got restrained and taken into the cave and tossed into a holding cell until the bunch of bad guys decided on what to do with them.

What came next was essentially just back and forth verbal sparring with the two jailers who were set to guard them. I had originally planned for the four of them to break out of the jail through force, overpowering the guards, and continuing on from there. As it was, Fugetsu was in no shape to do much of anything, having his lung cut and then then rapidly healed, and Renya was in a similarly bad shape, having gotten whacked on the noggin in the last fight really fucking hard. So rather than being gung-ho heroes, they acted like ninja and spend some time gathering information. I had a timer set here, but my kind heart stopped me from really enforcing it as much as I should have.

Turns out the guards weren't really into this whole 'being evil, stealing from the Village watched over by Ninja Jesus, world domination' thing, and were, later rather than sooner, talked into letting the Genin go (but not after Akame was taken for interrogation), and booking it for Konoha, hoping to trade information for safety. With a parting word, their jailers told them that Akame - and the items - were off to their left, but that they were running out of time and the sale would take place soon.

The three Genin left - Renya, Arata and Fugetsu - went left, and decided to take the 'Sakumo Hatake' path, choosing to rescue their teammate before continuing onto the items. Unfortunately, they dopey bastards walked RIGHT by her, into a storeroom and loaded themselves up on weapons, before walking BACK past her again and downwards towards where the items were kept.

They got almost entirely to the items before Fugetsu aced a Perception check, and I told him that he could tell that Akame wasn't there, due to the lack of the ever-present smell of rain I cringed so fucking hard when the player said that. I asked if Akame wore perfume, and she's like 'Nah, but she smells like fresh rain. I rolled with it. So they trekked BACK up the spiral ramp and checked the room they walked past before. Sure enough, Akame was in there, tied up and beaten, but not in need of urgent medical attention. BARELY passing a Stealth check, Fugetsu nearly gets spotted by an enemy bandit that was in the room. He froze in place, and the bandit, thinking the movement had been Akame, went back to whatever he had been doing.

In another magnificent show of why Fugetsu should never be given an important task, he fails the last Stealth Check in the room, sneaking out while carrying Akame on his back. He trips over a rock in the darkness and nearly fucking faceplants. The bandits in the room, at this point, can't help but notice. Fugetsu quickly slashes through Akame's bonds and they quickly formulate a plan - they are going to run away around a corner, and then hide themselves, hoping that the bandits will think they kept running, and go past them. Good in theory, not so flash in execution.

For once, Fugetsu doesn't fumble his roll, both he and Akame fading into the darkness of the cave like they're the Goddamn Batman, with Renya also passing his Stealth check. Arata, however, decides to pull a Konohamaru (due to rolling like a 2 on his Stealth check), whipping out a sheet of textured cloth and holding it the wrong way, hoping it hides him. Needless to say, it doesn't, because of course it fucking doesn't. The bandits run around the corner behind them, and instantly spot Arata.

As they advance, the two jailers from before wander around the corner, and bump into the other bandits, obscuring their vision of Arata. The bandits try to get past, but the jailers shove them back. One turns to look at the team and taps a timepiece. They're late as it is. Better get moving. With a hasty word of thanks, the Genin sprint past the two jailers - leaving them two versus three (one of whom was a low-level ninja, but the players never discovered this) - and continued back down the ramp towards the lower level, and the items.

Deciding, again, to take it slow, the four of them scout out the room first. Akame aces her Perception check and pretty much instantly sees everything that's going on. There are four regular bandits just bumming around, but at the other end of the cavern, there are two men dressed in much better clothing than the rest. They're clearly ninja, and they're wearing headbands, although Akame doesn't recognise the symbol. She notices a table in the corner and can see the half-completed blade on it, but the datastick and Kote are nowhere to be seen.

Formulating a plan, they decide to try walking up the wall onto the roof and sneaking across, hoping to either attack or nab the items before anyone notices. Fugetsu plays par for the course, crit-failing his Wall Walk jutsu and going full Naruto, slipping on his first step and cracking his skull on the ground. He decides, wisely, to be the guard at the entrance. Renya, meanwhile, sneaks on over to the table as the Jounin ninja wander off, agitated. It seems a sale hasn't gone as planned. They walk over to a massive boulder and perform a jutsu, melting the boulder into the ground and walking through the passageway behind it, before re-raising the boulder behind them. Arata took position above a bandit, in case he had to drop down to attack, and wanted someone to break his fall.

He needn't have worried, though, as Renya dashed forward, grabbed the sword, slung it over his shoulder, and retreated into the darkness without anyone noticing. They headed back to the entrance to the room and decided to head back up, since they had no way of getting through that massive boulder. Heading back upstairs, one of the jailers was laid out facedown in a pool of blood, the other resting against the wall, alive but clutching his side, blood spilling between his fingers. The three bandits, however, were hallway behind them, in various states of damage, all dead. The jailers appeared to give just as well as they got. The Genin rushed over to the living jailer, but Arata - the unofficial medic of the group - knew enough to tell that he had minutes at best. Even dressing his wounds would just delay the inevitable.

Slipping in and out of lucidity, the jailer gave one last piece of intel to the Genin - the passageway with the boulder led out back onto the main road. If they hurried, they MIGHT still be able to catch the buyers who grabbed the Kote and datastick. Thanking the jailer, the team moved on. There were no guards on the way out, or in the clearing.

At this time, Akame's player decided she wasn't having fun in the game, and decided to just flat out call it quits and leave. A hell of a dick move, but the mission was nearly over, so we forged ahead nonetheless.

Thanks to bro jailer, the Genin were able to find a hidden entrance not too far from the main road, north of the hidden passage they had taken to the clearing. Again, using their noggins instead of their fists, they decided to wait and see. Fugetsu passed a Chakra Sense test, and could tell the two Jounin they saw in the cave were also heading along this passageway, but were a ways off. Before long, two well-dressed men appeared from the entrance. Renya decided to take the lead, beginning Operation: Shh, we're actually bandits now, hey guys, act like we're bandits. *ahem* Give us all your money and stuff and we'll let you live.

Of course, the men weren't too flustered, because a) they were up against fucking kids, and b) they could tell they weren't bandits because not a single ninja thought to remove their shinobi headband. The men each drew a tanto knife and attempted to intimidate the Genin. Having already, at this point, killed three bandits, a ninja, and beaten one into within an inch of his life, they weren't too worried. Renya passed a Deception check, and tricked the men into thinking they were surrounded by other Konoha shinobi, hidden in the trees. It was approaching evening, and the men weren't trained swordsmen. They were traders and businessmen. One of them berated the other for thinking they wouldn't fucking need bodyguards, but they gave in, pulling out the items and placing them on the ground. Fugetsu snatched them up, and the Genin allowed the traders to be on their way, happy to let them explain to their bosses why they lost the money AND the items.

The Genin made their way back towards Konoha, the sight of the massive walls and gates comforting them as they nearly reached home - well, not HOME home for Fugetsu, but as homey as he was gonna get for a while. Just before they reached the gates, however, a shadow broke off from off to their right and approached them. Feeling a bit uneasy, Fugetsu and...I think it was Renya...rolled 20s on their Chakra Sense check, and were nearly brought to their knees by the immense chakra pool this shinobi had, and the incredible pressure his presence put out. He wore a blank headband, but no easily-identifiable clothing.

He was polite and easygoing, however, simply asking the Genin to hand over the weapons in exchange for a FUCKTON of money - 1000 Ryo each (please keep in mind I don't know the Naruto/IRL exchange rate, but since I haven't done up any store prices yet, 1000 Ryo x 3 items was going to be a lot), as well as promising information beneficial to them. As pretty much expected, the ninja stuck to their cause, very warily but exceedingly politely declining the ninja's offer. Fugetsu was preparing to make a break for the gates with the items, but the ninja merely shrugged and said he admired their dedication to their Village and their Kage. He parted ways with them, saying he wasn't overly miffed, as he had several ways to get what he needed.

And that was pretty much it. The Genin wandered back through the Konoha gates, enjoying the nightlife as families finished up shopping, headed out for dinner, or just enjoyed themselves in the growing twilight. For the first time since the mission began, they all began to truly relax, the good feeling of everything around them putting them at ease. As much as they wanted to sleep, though, they decided to place their report first, and headed to the Hokage's office.

That's it. Next game will start with giving the report.

I refuse to consider that a valid argument. I know many female TTRPG players that are amazing. Hell, one of the girls that got me into TTRPGs GM'd my first game, and it's still my favourite, and she's still a close friend. I know just as many male players who are more spastic than female players.

So, Akame has now disappeared, and is going to be replaced by a new character. To avoid having to dick around with introductions and explanations as to why Akame is suddenly gone and someone from the same Village is here, I'm going to ask the players to continue as if New Character was always with them, rather than Akame swapping out. I plan to catch the new player up to speed before the next game, so hopefully there will not be too much discrepancy.
