My first real battle against chaos. They are swarming norland and I'm trying to help them (even thoguh they hate me). Already had a battle before this but my army was out numbered and I got flanked by hundreds of warhounds. This battle I feel like I HAVE to win.

The reason I'm so thrilled about this is because I've been ravaged by 4 stacks of Vamp Cunts while most of my money is being spent on armies in the south, cleaning up the orcs.
The vamps razed a shit ton of my land in the northern mountains; and Rugni here finally was able to intervene and took out all four armies within one turn, including their generals.

Also it was my first time seeing the undead implode after having their generals killed, so that was pretty fucking awesome.

The game actually says anything horse size or larger. In practice, that's anything mounted or monstrous, including chariots. Dunno about steam tanks. Orc infantry doesn't count as large even if they're big, and foot slogging lords don't either afaik. Birdman does.

Pretend you're a horde, protect black crag, and just go make war. Don't even worry too much about settlements until you've got your waaaghs going, just make sure your income is positive and go beat the shit out of armies for loot and sack when you can. Eventually someone's gonna confederate because you either beat the shit out of them or someone else has weakened them. Stay in your zone and kill everything you see, and if nothing's around, go sack the nearest thing.

It's great because it gets reapplied as long as your unit is in combat. It gives a short debuff to enemy stats, and tires them out much faster than they would normally. Biggest problem is that most of the units with it are garbage, except for crypt horrors which will just fuck shit up in melee and make everyone exhausted fighting them.

And exhaustion is a big hidden debuff to combat skills/speed, so yeah. Poison is good if you can keep it up.

Because it crashed on nearly every occasion, many things dont even work.
All of the more advanced skaven units cause crashes, Ogres cause crashes, I think large units in general increase the risk.
It happens way too often, If I have a 40+ min siege and it fucking crashed midway then im done for the day.

Another big thing are the unit rosters, wood elves have maybe 10 units (which fucking crash the game) and Empire has like 40+, many factions have only very little amount of units.

I take four crypt horrors in my elite stacks, they're really fucking good. A solid start to the campaign is gobbling up Sylvania and then turtling with one stack, western Sylvania is for recruiting forest chain, eastern Sylvania for mausoleum and cairn chain. Alternatively you can put it all in western Sylvania, but it's up to you. Worry about balefire until after you're set up.

I don't think that Arachnaroks are quite as good at causing routes. If a Boar Boy slams into the back of a unit they take a ton of leadership damage, since Boar Boyz are shock cavalry.

They're also way cheaper, but I agree that Spiders are much better.

In what situation would you want goblins over boyz?

I feel they could do with a bit of a speed buff, they're already a bit faster than boyz but it isn't particularly noticable.

Would allow them to flank a bit better or chase down fleeing units, which is all i really use them for. Their animations while chasing and killing are hilarious.

I do like using vanguard night goblins for rear charges and that poison debuff. but they feel like a bit of a waste.

And they've been a bit vague on it all.

I'd like some clarification on whether there are actual plans to include more factions in this game or whether those are going to be saved for the two expansions. The rest I'm not so sure when or how they will do it. I think they'll end up making expansion for the other continents with factions on them like the expansions they made for Rome 2 and Attila.

I would prefer something like Empire though where they incorporate the different continents into the main campaign.

Just rightclick and export the table you want to change to a new folder, then make a new file, rightclick the unnamed.pack then add directory and pick the folder inside your new folder to import so you can edit it. I dug my way to the chaos horde, underneath the barren wastes of attrition. They've come to cleanse the underway of my boys. The whole of the chaos horde is about to batter down my weary orcs. I'm not really feeling this one can go in my favour, but this is the first stand I can make, so let's try to make it the last.

My main force is comprised of bigguns with a few boy and night goblins, mostly consisting of my small archer force on the front lines to start the fight off with a one-sided skirmish. I've got Grimgor and his immortulz waiting for their chance on the flank.

Azhag is matching Sigvald and Kholeks reinforcements. He's bringing a few doom divers, some more night goblin archers, and a some goblin wolf riders who I suspect are going to be rendered quite obsolete in the underway. Azhag hasn't got his dark magic, or Skullmuncha, though he's bringing a full line of black orcs to the fray.

The chaos horde hasn't come empty handed by any means. Archaeon has a few companies of hardened chosen warriors. He's ready to take out my black orcs alright. It's also times like this I wish I had a death mage for those giants, but Azhag just isn't a high enough level.

I do have a time-limit in my favour which I can try to play around, but when the battle heats up, time is likely not to be an issue for them.

I've got two solid lines, but my goblin cavalry are ready to charge through gaps, and hopefully pay for their slot-space. (300 gold a pop is pretty damn good for light cav).

Grimgor might just turn the tide of battle with his combat abilities. I've also got a Shaman so my winds of magic wont go to waste.

the Hexwraiths and Cairnwraiths are from Kemmler who I started with.

I fought a huge fight in Eschen and there ended up being 3300 casualties. I took all of Sylvania in 8 turns which gave me Mannfred, and over the course of two turns I used Raise Dead to get 2 Grave Guards, 1 Great Weapon Grave Guard, 2 Lance Black Knights, a regular black knight, 3 crypt ghouls, and a Crypt Horror.

Hexwraiths are also really cool starting units if you spam heal on them. My Hexwraith got 300+ kills in 2 seperate battles.

Yes, the bigger the number of casualties the better and more units you can make. Right after the battle it was just a bunch of skeletons but the next turn there were grave guards and a black knight, then the next turn there were more grave guards, more black knights, crypt ghouls, and a crypt horror.

The battle at this point isn't decided by a single warrior.

Perhaps conclusive evidence that I'm not ready for Very Hard combat difficulty, my troops waver before the hordes of chaos spawn and numerous giants littering the tunnels with corpses of black orcs and big'uns.

Both Azhag and Grimgor are fighting hard on the flanks, but the middle was broken like glass. I should have adapted more quickly, but hopefully I can turn it into an advantage.

A matter of seconds after this my troops, including Grimgor routed. Suppose nobody told them that theres no escaping the depth of the Underway. Their fate was sealed at the entrance of the underground highway.

Just get tier 2 Gaze of Nagash for your Lord and an embedded caster hero and nuke enemy lords/heroes from half the map away before your armies are even within attack range of each other.

again, there are ways to deal with it, either your own death magic/accuse spam, or just putting your general on a pegasus, but its simply not fun. What you said is not so much an attack move as an attack order that can, by virtue of game mechanics, technically count as an attack move, because units will stop what they're doing and attack what they bump into.

Today my yumi ashigaru saved my life.

I had a tiny little splinter army of like six or seven units, all light cavalry and ashigaru, and I went up against a small division of yumi samurai, katana samurai, and a general with his bodyguard. I managed to get on top of a wooded hill, and I eliminated their yumi samurai with few casualties on my side, but then almost all my units got bogged down fighting the katana samurai, while my yumi ashigaru sat on top of the hill bombarding them with arrows.

Then to my horror, I saw that their general was heading straight up the hill towards my yumis. I had absolutely no way of reaching them in time to save them. They were all going to die horribly.

So I said FUCK IT
WE'LL DO IT LIVE

I told my yumis to switch to melee mode, and then I told them to charge down the hill and attack the general head-on.

And by fucking god, anons, they killed that general dead and scattered his bodyguard to the fucking winds, and only took roughly 40 percent casualties in doing so. If they had failed and routed, that general would have turned around and smashed the rest of my troops from behind while we were busy fighting the katanas. Those little peasants saved my fucking life.

Vampires are your generic evil undead, they use dark magics and try to conquer the Empire.

Tomb kings are undead Egypt. They are kinda neutral and don't care about outside world that much. In TW they'll probably be the "Chariot Guys". They also have archers and some cool monsters.

Orcs are savage people who only want to fight. Their society is completely based on "Might makes right" motto. They have lot's of good infantry and ok monsters.

Ogres are a little bit less ucivilized, they are capable of diplomacy and work as merecenaries. Their whole shtick is that they eat a lot, and always hungry. Their army is almost completely composed of monstrous infantry with some gobbo support.

Lizardmen are ancient anti-chaos weapon created by demiughs of this world. Their society is class based and your class is predetermined on your birth (or rather spawn). They have a lot of dinosaur monsters and good heavy infantry that rivals chaos warriors. Theiy have best magic casters in the game in form of Slann.

Skaven are rat people living underground. Their Empire is huge, but they are always infighting, which stops them from complete world domination. Their army is charaterized by lots and lots of cannon fodder and pretty insane high-tech contraptions that disintegrate enemy while it's tied down by your clan rats. Morale problems.

Elves and Delvs are prety similar. They both are god-tier magic casters, fielding low numbers of high-tier infantry. Both are great naval powers, with delvs being pirates that constantly raid old world for slaves. The difference is, Delves are more attack focused and have better monsters, but both races are kinda glass cannons.

Empire is HRE in fantasy form. They have meh infantry, ok heavy cavalry and good artillery. Their whole shitck is combined warfare with artillery, guns and magic.

Brettonia is a mix between feudal France and Arthurian legends. They have shitty infantry backed by best and most numerous heavy cav in Old world.

Tomb kings and Vampires are both byproducts of Nagash, the first Necromancer from the land of not-egypt.

The land was cursed by Nagash when he was defeated and ancient kings that were mummified and entombed with their soldiers came back from the dead to do tomb king things.

Vampires were created by contemporary kings who fought Nagash and tried to gain immortality by using books stolen from Nagash, but fucked it up so now they need blood and can't stand the sun.

Orcs are a type of "greenskin", the other being goblins. They're savages who live only to fight and get stronger and bigger as they age. They used to be born from mushrooms, but that got retconned so now their origins are kinda vague.

Ogres are similar to humans except they're large cannibal freaks. who live in wastelands.

Lizardmen are basically ancient Aztec dinosaurs.

Skaven are rat people who live underground near human and dwarf settlements. They're obsessed with warpstone, which they use for magical stuff and skaven technology. Warpstone is basically "chaos rocks" which mutate/mindfuck things around them. Skaven are mostly immune to it.

The Empire is basically the Holy Roman Empire, if the HRE worshiped pagans instead of christianity. Sigmar is their patron god.

Bretonnia is basically Camelot from Arthurian legends, except they're all French. They worship an elf demigod (except they don't really know she's an elf)

Is there some place that explains exactly what some of these stats do?

I assume it's just as a unit misses more and more its hit chance goes higher and higher and then drops back to its base chance once it finally hits, but there's no telling the rate at which it increases. I could change this shit to 1.2 and the shit could triple or something.

It's really jarring to see the Empire occupying mountain holds, or dwarfs occupying the empire. I was against the regional occupation system when I heard of it, but after playing the game for a bit it just feels better. Keeps AI factions from going full retard and creating map gore like in your pic also.

Who would the wood elf characters be? Durthu and Orion?

It seems weird there's no WE lord characters that are actual elves. GW sort of neglects wood elves so theres no good elf characters for WE like the HE have teclis/aenerion etc.

Every TW campaign goes the same way for me. Fill up your first stack with trash units you can recruit from the start, maybe get another one going depending on your needs.

Build up economy and once I'm able to recruit most of the good units, I go back home to disband the crap and get an elite army.

I'm really never in a position where I go and get one or two upgrades, none of the units mean anything to me and it always leads to me autoresolving cause my armies are of so much better quality than the AIs.

That being said, those retards were genuinely arguing that having lots of artillery was a good thing from a balance perspective, which is just straight up wrong. Unless they buff arty to have more of an impact on larger unit sizes, or if they slow down the movement speed of all units across the board - they won't be as useful as just taking another unit of cav or w/e.

I have a 380 and not updated my drivers in months. Game works pretty well, 4 or 5 crashes after 85 hours.

If you want to fight the battle on the walls they have to initiate the attack. Otherwise you are sallying out and you just fight them in the field.

It's a bit different from shit like medieval 2 where you still have the castle on the map when you sally.

Only the Empire/Dwarfs/Greenskin/Vampire Counts (the playable factions) can do it

You can't have top knots absorb other orcs for instance
