Hakumen is too weak. His mobility sucks without stars and his defensive options are all free to throw. He can barely break 1k meterless whereas most characters can easily get 3.5k with a good starter and still get oki. His mixups are virtually non-existent (inb4 6B, that shit is incredibly easy to block outside of netplay and arcade lag) and his pressure is laughable. Winning with Hakumen is so much harder than with any other character.

Can Ragna really die? He's got way too many people for that. Taokaka,Rachel,Noel, Lambda, Nu, Celica and Saya. They'd all be devastated. I mean we already went through this shit in xblaze, Hinata wanted Touya alive so much she kept resetting time hoping he'd survive the Watsumii incident but it never happened and a fake was born. The same goes for Es except Nine and Celica's actions saved her from repeating Hinata's mistake. And the burst thing is legitimate. There are plenty of moves necessary for a kill combo that cannot be cancelled to read a burst attempt, so astral as early as possible before opponent regens burst is just smart play.

You know, I really do believe the colors are only ballpark indicators of skill and are overall useless to a point, it really is disappointing when I used to be a pink square, nobody turned me down, but after I downgraded to red/orange After practicing my mirror matchup against nineball_infinite and losing a lot more than winning, some pink squares are turning me down now.

Every forum, stream, or other similar site I've been in have all often agreed that colors useless and always remind new players that they don't matter. I just felt like this was a general consensus. Hell, even several good players rank down on purpose simply because they like the way the blue or green colors look.

I think it would make sense for them to work Mai into the story mode instead of just adding her as a DLC years later with no connection to the plot, since it's not as if there will be another game to allow for her introduction into the story. In which case the fact that Variable Heart probably won't be over doesn't matter regarding the time that Mai will be made playable. I'd have put Naoto there too since his arcade acts have been literally nothing, but that connection to the main character and antagonist made me tentatively throw him there.

Also we really don't know enough about some of those characters who haven't done anything to justify putting them so high. You could leave Amane out and the story would play out just fine for example.

If anything the characters of primary importance to the core story are Ragna, Jin, Noel and Terumi. Rachel, Hakumen, Jubei and maybe Kokonoe and Nu are of secondary importance. You could have the story function with just these characters.

Mai has a grimoire with a very useful ability, knows much of the main cast and is the heir of a duodecim family, so she could be easily worked into the story and play a role in it.

And the fact she's the heir of a duodecim family makes her an important person in the overall setting.

Es is the one who's been guiding Ragna all this time. She's also the one guarding the Gate withing the Black Beast, the very sight of which caused Noel to freak out an immediately separate herself from her power as the Godslayer. Those facts alone would make Es most likely very important, being not only vital to the protagonist's movements, but also a primary motivation for the main heroine's actions.

Amane is seeking to replace "god" with something, and he's the current Onlooker. The main thing is the fact that his plans directly involve the Master Unit. There is no way someone like that could be minor. The key point here is the Master Unit. As long as you have some tie to the Master Unit, you're gonna be important.

No one really needs any more information. Rachel and Amane already know most of what's going on and Ragna's already made his decision. If Mai's information-gathering abilities are gonna benefit anyone, it's gonna be someone like Kagura, who hasn't done jack shit since his meaningless rebellion ploy in BBCP.

The valentines are all clones of aria but the universal will kinda enhanced and fine tuned them when Ariels threw them in the backyard and fished them out again.
