So I just bought an r4i-sdhc and downloaded the kernal from their website, what in here is actually necessary? The moonmemo folder just has 6 readme files in different languages (no english even though I downloaded the english pack), so I'm assuming that's unnecessary, not sure about the other folders. If Nintendo had a way of tracking purchases something like Freeshop would never exist in the first place. The worst thing that can happen is getting banned from online games using pirated games (but then going online with pirated games isn't exactly the smartest thing to do anyway).

The thing about bricking consoles, Nintendo can't do that intentionally at the risk of damaging legitimate consumers. It's possible that a fw update might brick someone using cfw due to imcompatibility but at that point everyone's either on A9lh or emunand so it makes 0 difference.

Back in January of this year I installed CFW onto my 3ds and used rxtools to play a few games I wanted to at the time. I haven't touched my 3ds much since then, but I will when Monster Hunter Generations releases in the US to play with some friends.

My question is that now that time has passed should I change my CFW from rxtools to something else? Will I need to redo the entire process to do it? Can I even play online with CFW with a pirated copy of MHG to play with my friends when it comes out?

So, I've got a 4.2.0-9 US Old 3DS XL with a fresh 32GB SD Card.

Trying to follow the arm9loaderhax tutorial, and I can't get Decrypt9.dat to load.

Guide says download Decrypt9WIP, put Decrypt9.dat on SD root, and go to the URL for it, but there's no Decrypt9.dat.

Tried renaming it and using Launcher.dat and the most I can get is a black screen.

Something went wrong with my arm9 install. My themes, homebrew, and games are all gone. However, my folders are positioned in the same exact way they were when I updated to the latest firmware. I installed games to my emunand prior to all of this, and went through all the steps listed on the guide. Before formatting my sd card, as it was written in the guide to remove my emunand, I could see all my installed games I had installed in my emunand in my sysnand, becuase at this point I had arm9loader and restored my sysnand using an emunand back up. My nands were never linked and I made sure to back up the contents of my sd card. After formatting, I copied over my backed up contents back into my sd card and this is were my problem occurred when I booted up my installed games have dissipated and only their folders remain.
