Yes, the Fragment Ifrit fight is damn near impossible without full Fire resist on your party.
Other resist accessories can be useful too, but only grab them if you've got the extra greens.

Honestly I knew very little about the games, and decided to just bite into it and buy XIII.
After I played that, decided I loved it completely, then moved onto VII. Highly recommend the series. I'm also someone who hasn't played JRPGs before.

Started LR and I have absolutely no desire to continue playing it. They thrust you into the game so poorly and tell you what you have to do so briefly. The doomsday clock is so stupid and all these sidequests are so monotonous and it being the only way to increase your stats is dumb beyond words. Half the time I don't know where I'm running to or what I'm supposed to be doing but I have a nice reminder by the clock that I'm losing time as I do anything.

The thing about the defense minigame is it doesn't really matter if enemies get past, you then just fight them with your actual party. It's a lot easier.

The only reason initially to fight enemies is to gain more Chrono Gauge or whatever it's called to stop time and do more things. If you're good enough you can finish all the required missions within the first couple days and can just stay at the inn to fast forward the timer.

And the whole game is supposed to be side-quest central essentially after they received a lot of complaints of there not being many in XIII & XIII-2. It help the game to feel open world and also gives proper depth to the end of the world and it's inhabitants.

But if you don't like it, you don't like it. That's on you, not the game.

I am overloaded as fuck with screenshots.
I just went through that whole thing of Tifa helping Cloud figure out who he was and now Cloud is part of the Team again.
I learned who Zack was and his role, and how Sephiroth died. What a straight savage Cloud was throwing Sephiroth like that.
So one thing I don't understand. Is Cloud a clone then or not? And was he actually in SOLDIER or not? They said he wasn't in SOLDIER ever, bet then right after those cutscenes, I went to talk to Yuffie, and Cloud said he was in SOLDIER.

Cloud's not a clone but he was never in SOLDIER. He was just a basic security grunt at Shinra. In the experiments he endured with Zack, his memories got muddled. Once he stumbled into Tifa in Midgar his memories kinda came back and he thought he was in SOLDIER since he always talked to her about it. That's really it.

He has Jenova cells in him due to experimentation by Hojo, but he's not a clone. I don't know why he sometimes pretends to have been in SOLDIER even after knowing he wasn't, could be a translation thing.

Go back to Nibelheim and hit up the basement again and check around the lab. You can get some flashbacks with Cloud and Zack to help flesh that out. There's also a house in the snow village that Aeris lived in as a kid where you can view video tapes of her past. Then I don't remember if you needed a blue chocobo or not but there's a waterfall you can enter on the world map for some scenes related to Vincent.

All of those are completely optional and a lot of people still haven't viewed any of them today.

Having a good idea and some way to actually make it in my case, experience with RPG Maker, but yet not being an artfag so you can't really do anything with that idea.

I've really been thinking about how I'd make a Final Fantasy X-0 revolving around Braska's pilgrimage and I could totally build it in RPG Maker, no problem, but... because I can't sprite to save my life, I'm basically fucked.

I don't suppose anyone would be interested in collabing for it, would they? I would do all the actual "programming", eventing, writing and all that shit. I just need someone(s) to artfag for me.

I've also been playing around with another idea revolving around Shuyin's quest called Final Fantasy X-1 (not pronounced "Final Fantasy Ten-One", but rather "Final Fantasy X: Negative One", both in the sense that it's a distant prequel and because Shuyin is effectively a negative version of Tidus.) But that idea is still in it's early stages.

But nothing will ever come of it because art is hard.

Well, Braska succeeds. Just in the "neutral end" sort of way. He stops Sin for 10 years.

Shuyin's is another problem, though if you focused on switching between Shuyin and Lenne, with the final mission being Lenne trying to stop Shuyin from her perspective, that could be seen as a success.

There's not any visual difference between the armors and weapons you'll get with the exception of two costumes for each character, and the combat's not nearly as engaging. It is, I'd say, faster paced. Watch a gameplay video of someone who's good at the game getting killsights and breaksights continuously and you'll understand what I mean.

But what if you don't have to fail?

My idea is to have each of the games have different endings. Of course, the True Ending that eventually leads into FFX/X-2 would be attainable and would be inevitably miserable, but there would be other paths to take in order to get Paradox Endings.

For example, in FFX-0, my plan was for something like this (which could change):

True Ending - Jecht becomes BFA and you get to fight a curbstomp battle as BFA against Sin and then you see the events leading up to Jecht becoming Sin, Auron getting fatally injured by Yunalesca, and Kimahri taking Yuna to Besaid. The game would end showing Tidus being sucked into Sin at the start of FFX.

Paradox Ending - Choose to defy Yunalesca and fight her instead. However, with no means to actually defeat Sin (due to no machina superweapon airship being found yet), Braska and his Guardians are executed for treason by Yevon. Fast forward 10 years and Operation Mi'hen is beginning, and characters like Wakka, Lulu, Kimahri and Rikku are all preparing to fight against Sin (and most of them don't know each other). Then a hooded girl shows up, going by the coincidentally-named alias of "Lenne", with intent on fighting Sin too. Then Wakka quips about how Yevon is still trying to find the daughter of that heretic Braska, and "Lenne" gets angry... but then calms down and prepares to fight. Only for everyone there to get wiped out by Sin. Bad ending.

It was interesting. I fully understand everything. I like the whole twist with all of what Cloud remembered him doing, was actually all Zack, and Cloud was just the non important soldier.
That isn't something you see a lot in vidya.
But damn that kill on Sephiroth was pretty cool. Although I expected something different, maybe like Cloud getting suddenly overpowered and using Omnislash or something really powerful.

Also, here's my current idea for some of the endings for X-1. First of all, near the end of the game, you would have to make a choice - do you go to Bevelle and try and hijack Vegnagun or do you go back to Zanarkand and stop Yu Yevon from turning everyone into Fayth and creating Sin.?

If Bevelle:
True Ending - You choose to rush in to Bevelle, pretty much through the front gates. You encounter the General of Bevelle (who would be one of the main antagonists of the game) and you have to kill him. This alerts the soldiers to your position, but you head into Vegnagun's chamber, with Lenne showing up behind you. But the soldiers end up catching up with you and killing Shuyin and Lenne in front of Vegnagun. Then Sin shows up and... well, you know what happens next.

Paradox Ending 1 - You enter Bevelle in full stealth mode and sneak in through the sewers or some shit. You make it to Vegnagun without being seen, but the fact that your break-in didn't put them on high alert, Vegnagun's activation is going on schedule, and it gets activated with Shuyin standing directly in front of it, with Lenne showing up moments later. They both get murdered by Vegnagun and it then proceeds to destroy all of Spira.

If Zanarkand:

Paradox Ending 2 - You head after Yu Yevon in order to try and stop him from creating Dream Zanarkand and Sin. But you lose the battle against Yu Yevon, and he summons Sin. However, due to you not raiding Bevelle, Vegnagun has been activated on schedule and Sin and Vegnagun clash. An injured Shuyin and Lenne watch the battle of titans unfold, as they mutually destroy Spira in their battle.

Shuyin and Lenne then rush to make a statement to Bevelle, calling for a truce and an end to the war, just before Vegnagun is activated. Bevelle demands surrender, and with Yu Yevon (Zanarkand's leader) dead, it falls to Lenne (his daughter) to make the decision. Lenne opts to surrender to Bevelle, knowing what great destruction Vegnagun could bring, and Zanarkand is occupied by Bevelle. Though it isn't a happy ending for Zanarkand, it's certainly a happier ending than Sin.
