I think git gud is not enough, it's really hard to survive the night

Hardmode is designed to test your skill and knowledge of the game. What items are where, what their effects are, and what suits your playstyle. If you're literally just starting, the best think you can do is grind out a ledgendary sword/bow with fire arrows/yo-yo with string and go from there.

It was okay when I was playing the early expert mode

How do you decorate your NPC houses?

I'm thinking of using a different furniture set/wall for each NPC, but I'm having trouble pairing sets to NPCs.

So far I've got the following:

Angler: Palm wood
Nurse: Glass furniture (with Fancy Gray wallpaper)
Arms Dealer: Obsidian
Goblin Tinkerer: Bone

I'm playing expert hardmode after having not played to this point in regular hardmode for over two years and I've hit a wall with the mechanical bosses. I have Frost armor, so what's the best melee/ranged setup to take down the Twins and the Destroyer? I've tried both but the Twins chase me down too much and I can't keep my health up, and the Destroyer's probes are too much to handle.

Any arrow with good dmg can do the trick if you're not a shitter. Holy arrows made the fight too fast for me, and I wasn't getting below half of its hp before that bow.

The top layer has a lot of chests, and they have loot. Finding bombs allows the Demo to move in, but those are also a method of getting to hearts and orbs, which drop interesting items and eventually, after a third, spawn a boss. Doing this also has a chance to initiate a meteor.

Piranhas and underground skeletons drop hooks, for that sweet mobility. These can also be crafted from some 15 of a gem.

The best armor to get is jungle armor. It doesn't require ore, which spawns so randomly, and has some of the best stats.

Rope isn't really great for builds like that in Terraria, since it can't really simulate slack and sag. What you could do is instead try using some other block hammered, actuated, and painted to look like cables or some shit.

Always have the food buff on you for one. It's stupid easy to get and helps out all of your stats, including health regeneration. You could always fish in the corruption/crimson or hallow for the fish weaponry, it's actually surprisingly good and you can get a bunch of crates for ore along the way. Or, tangle with stuff underground mostly. You can find the wizard and make some decent spells pretty easy, or just farm souls of light/night to force large mimic spawns and farm those for some starting gear. OR just fight in the snow biome until the frost fire yoyo drops and fuck shit up with that.

You actually have a lot of options.

You could also just farm the wall of flesh until the rifle drops. That thing works wonders for keeping shit off of your ass, and actually puts out pretty decent damage too. Use that to get yourself started.

Fish up crates until you have enough hardmode ore to make some armor. You can also just stock up on building mats, build a house in the jungle and build your way to a set of chloro armor

Well, for starters, the Lunatic should drop an item which summons the pillars, rather than having the pillars pop up immadiately afterward. Not only would it make it so that you don't have to go through ALL that shit every time you fight the Lunatic, but it would help make the Lunatic feel like its own fight than a phase of the Moon Event.

Secondly, the Lunatic should drop weapons that basically do the attacks the Lunatic uses. He's got a lot of super neat attacks. As for the Expert mode drop, maybe an accessory that makes a bunch of clones of yourself (like pic related). Enemies aim for the clones until they fade away, with the clones regenerating similarly to how your health would.

So what size world would you recommend to start of with? If playing solo is there any reason not to go largest/smallest map?

That's just a boulder trap. The world generates traps randomly, you've probably come across dart traps already.

Basically you wire them to mechanisms and when you step on them the mechanisms activate. It's like the redstone in Minecraft, but 2D. The thing that makes blocks transparent is called Actuator, check it out on the wiki.

Guys, please help. I'm trying to change the keys, but when I press a key, the action becomes <none>, and then the mouse won't click. I tried deleting everything and reopening (it's a pirated version off kat), but the same thing happens.
I tried to troubleshoot my keyboard; it says the USB port is 3.0 but the keyboard isn't, so there might be some trouble with it. As you can see, the keyboard works fine, and in fact the game works normally with the default keyboard config.

It's really not that hard. Just find/create an underground mushroom biome that's a couple of screens wide, then run back and forth until one spawns. It usually happens pretty fast.

I'm playing as a mage so I decided to farm for the Razorpine, and once I got it, I used it together with the Spectre Hood + Spectre Armor. Extremely fast attack speed combined with every magic attack healing me made Duke Fishron pretty damn easy. Funny how that works.
