Some added moves blatantly ripped off from MHO/frontier's better shit (lance turning sharply during a charge but having to re-accelerate, gunlance being able to be set on fire for additional damage and getting a second back/sidestep with a shell (is that already in X? I think I saw that), HH being able to store recited songs for later replaying, etc). Being on a better platform than the fucking 3ds/n3ds, or at least taking advantage of n3ds's hardware like 4U and not being a fucking abortion like X. Clear the main storyline in Caravan high rank (beat Rusted Kushala in the Battlequarters) then clear two of the following gathering hall quests:

G1: Tiger Sharq
G2: Escaped Convicts

So far, it seems pay2win since hunting isn't infinite. You're given hunting passes or sum shit. You get 20 to start if I recall but you seem to able to get them from quests. Wouldn't be surprised if they costed an arm and a leg at NPCs and cheap with cash.

It's weird because on PC this how I've always wanted to play bow, mouse and keyboard, plus the damage numbers are concrete indicators of quality headshots and critical range. Now that I finally have it feels like a generic MMO, reminds me of Vindcitus minus the class lock. All the interesting learning curve obstacles around the game are vanishing. Never been this torn.

It's Attack Up Medium for 10 points. It's good, but not as great as people make it out to be. It's a waste if you're trying to fit Mind's Eye in too. Not that you'll be bouncing that much, since you only need hitzones of 24+.

You get 10 passes every day to a maximum of 30 and 10 reserve passes on thursdays, up to 20 reserve passes, and you can transfer any number of reserve passes you have to your main passes at any time. You can purchase a token from an npc for like 100 zenny once a day that can be traded for one pass at any time and doesn't have a cap to how many you can have, it's an item box item. You also sometimes get these tokens as daily free shit.

Basically it's actually very difficult to run out.

Honestly I really don't like the concept of costumes for the actual hunt themselves.
If you're hunting with someone it's nice to be able to piece together at least some semblance of their skills simply by seeing what they are wearing.
Someone running around in diapers but has great skills just makes it frustrating since then you either have to ask what the actual pieces are or look at them individually.

Lobby sets are fine though.
Giving people an area to strut around looking nice is fun.

Locked moves unlock by doing a certain questline where you have to hunt certain monsters, ultimates unlock at a certain point in the story. The hard thing is the weapon talents or whatever which require you to go on unstable hunts to get rng token that you need five of the same kind of (you usually/always get one that's relevant to your weapon, at least, and can break them down into one half-token where two can be used to craft one full token of your choice) to activate one of them. Those are mostly the equivalent of mid-tier armour skills that are always active, like giving you wind res while doing a HH recital I think was one.

So with the true raw values being a thing in MHX, what is a general good number to shoot for?

I see things like weapons with lots of green and 250 raw or weapons with some white with blue and 190-200ish raw. Not really sure which weapons to go for since sharpness +2 isn't exactly easy to get on a lot of sets.

Get yourself Weakness Exploit to abuse Lance's gimmick (Using the high weakspot between Slash and Impact) and more offensive skills.
I would recommend making a pure offensive set with only evasion+1 but if you really want +3 you should consider any skill that isn't offense (and Razor Shap/S+1) useless.
Using that set you would do less damage than someone using a regular set and a HR Lance.

Lance user here in 4u. I'm into high rank and i've just hit my first "rough spot" with Azure rathalos. I figure since i hit something tough its time to make some high rank armor that goes well with lance. And a good lance. What are some good lances and some good armor sets? I mostly guard lance cause shields. Right now i'm using high rank Zinogre stuff cause it looks bad ass.

It does not, you're simply unfamiliar with the weapon (Well, you can use Quick Sheathe and you probably should in TA) as for the charge it's inexperience speaking, you can instantly stop using the turn attack, you can avoid every single Rajang Jumps using it and the finisher has amazing damage.

Seregios/relic bow is pretty strong in 4U. It has a lot of really awful solo matchups but a lot of really great ones where it rivals weapons like CB, DB and HBG as well, and it's basically always great in multiplayer if you play it correctly. Not like it's hard to find a relic bow that is better than kama on monsters weak to its element. People meme about relics being shit because you're unlikely to ever find a perfect one unless you hunt double monkey dick two thousand times, but they ignore that you will probably get something better than the best craftable of its class in your first few 140s. I have a GS, lance, bow, db and probably a lbg (haven't checked its stats out yet, I don't LBG much so I don't know what's good) that are (potentially, in the case of bow and DB, because of element) better than any craftable, and the GS and lance are only r9 relics. I don't do GQs often, the only one I ground for was the SnS.

Even if you suck ass and somehow can't find a competent group to carry you in GQs even in /mhg/ where you're basically guaranteed at least a Blanche, you can triple cart until the quest comes up rare, save the game, and then go to the rare area, mine and triple cart and hard reset your system if you don't get anything good until you do.

Time Attack. Speedrunning hunts with different weapons, trying to get as close to the best time as possible in that weapon class. Nerds like to take only the japanese solo, non-relic TAs of level 140 guild quests (where monsters have triple health, never taunt, do way more damage, start enraged and are apex if possible) into consideration when comparing weapon classes against each other as well as determining which weapon in a class is strongest.

That's not an accurate representation, though, since that heavily biases against anything with status (doesn't affect apexes, monsters build up near-immunity by the time you go through 3x their normal health), elemental (doesn't affect apexes) or ammo (any gunner weapon, because you will run out of ammo long before the monster dies with 3x health, and that's assuming you play perfectly), as well as generally changing up what matchups are ideal, and it's only a small list of monsters, and some weapons that are extremely powerful in multiplayer (like HH or the gunner weapons) are much worse solo.
