I say this as having the Zao, the Hinden, and the DM (I'd like to get to the Moskva). The thing about the Zao compared to her peers is due to the super stealthy nature of the ship which allows you better leeway when sticking your neck out as a t10 cruiser combined with the ludicrous HE/high fire chance. Generally allows you to be more effective at affecting the course of the match.

Granted some teams are beyond saving sometimes.

Its just the conclusion I've drawn from the matches I've played in said cruisers.

Though seriously if they make it retroactive, that's a pretty bitch thing to do. Flags and pennants and gold and credits are something, but gifting an entirely unique ship based on performance from previous seasons would really blow. I'm okay with unique ships, but you gotta let people know about the rewards ahead of time. I'd have swallowed my rage the past few seasons to get rank 1 if I knew it would get me a unique ship in the end.

1. USS Sims and IJN Yubari may soon hit the store, not so the Gremyashchy. The designers are unsure whether to release the Gremyashchy because of markedly different performance of this ship on different servers (some people actually manage to suck in it). Perhaps this ship will not be sold continuously, but be made available during a major seasonal or thematic event.
2. IJN Iwaki Alpha and USS Arkansas Beta may hit the store without the “Alpha” and “Beta” in their names.
3. The IJN Mikasa will not be sold on the Russian server till the implementation of the manual control on the secondary armament, which is particularly good on this ship.
4. The fate of the IJN Kitakami is not clear due to it being the epitome of a torpedo soup.
5. 14 new premium ships were planned for 2016, of which about one half has been released already. The actual number may even be higher.
6. The new R-Projekt on the Russian server will take place approximately between June 19 and July 31. It will feature ARP ships are awards. The unpopular lottery crates will be gone. The ultimate award may be the Russian cruiser Krasny Krim. Due to negative feedback on the first Russian R-Projekt, some modalities of the event will be changed following forum feedback prior to the start.

I understand that feeling. I used to do the same things until i realized the only way they will shift over is to attempt to get close enough to my team that my teammates start getting shot at too. That usually wakes them up. Hang back if they are rushing a flank if you want but dont fall so far behind that your team cant be shot at too. You'd be suprised how often pubs fail to focus fire.

The "NA are all bad" meme it's just that, a bad meme. Sure, there are bound to be more good EU players than NA ones, because the EU server is at least three times as large as the NA one. And yet, the number of tracked players on stats sites are pretty similar for NA or EU, so the metrics are bound to be skewed. But in the end, all servers are bound to have a similar ratio of good to bad players.

And from what I've seen, EU, NA and SEA are pretty much the same. The good players know what's better for them, so they're really passive and wait for someone else to use his HP in trying to push. They just snipe in the meanwhile. Makes sense, since they're the ones who make the most out of the spotting system.

There are a lot more languages going around in Europe. Bad players speaking some weird eastern dialect are less likely to check these new-fangled "stats" thing people keep insulting them around in the chat. Mostly because they don't even understand what they're saying to them. So they never type their name on the site and begin to get tracked.
In the end, this results in only the good players from such countries, which are more likely to know english AND care about stats, being tracked. Which explains why EU and NA tracked numbers are very similar, despite EU being a much bigger server.

Because if I were to follow your argument, we could go about how RU players are all old GODS of the sea, with their 1500-ish tracked players and 55%+ server average WR. Because it's not like the 1500 sample would screw things when measuring a server about the same size of the EU server.

The KM described a want for a triple turret cruiser Roon and Hindenburg were what WG thought it would look like. The Zao is spawned from design documents drawn up in 41' that were destroyed before the war ended, so basically take what existed and put it on steroids.

Right now, only Roon and Hindenburg are made up.

Roon is essentially a 'cruiserized' Panzerschiff P design.
Hindenburg is a hypothetical followup to Hipper/Prinz Eugen.

Both are actually rather sane, and follow the trends and concepts present in 1940 or 1941 Kriegsmarine design.
The one exception whre WG fucked it up are the DP guns and secondaries. The setup on Roon was recognized as obsolete by 1940, and the one on Hindenburg was understood to be vey much suboptimal in 1941, and was supposed to be replaced with something better on the H class.

The Kriegsmarine actually had plans for a DP turret, and it is even in the game. The turret on the German t1 is what they projected to be those guns on what would follow the H, P and Q classes and later DD classes for the Z plan.


The probably reason why they didn't use any of that is, of course, the idiotic oncept of national pecularities.
German cruisers can't have valid AA.

The Zao is pretty much in the same boat (heh). There were plans to create a successor to the Ibuki class during the Circle 5/Circle 6 shipbuilding programs, but they were lost to history when Japan lost. The Zao is a WG interpenetration of what it may have looked like, but it is a big break from traditional Japanese ship design. This guy breaks it down pretty well.

the pom pom was not selected over the bofors by the US because they weren't manufacturing the propellant in the US at the time. The bofors may have a bit higher velocity but pom poms can be joined in much larger configurations because of their loading mechanism and they higher cyclic rate. pom poms literally threw fucking walls of shells like you wouldn't believe, and it proved itself fairly good at what it was meant to do.
